I think things like The Ministry School helped me in business, and public speaking. It also made good sales persons out of a lot of people (If you can sell Watchtower's, you can sell anything) and PR with people in general is easier.
Of course, the Society's motive for the training was for their own interests and agenda. But the education can backfire on them as they have trained the so-called 'apostates' and it is not working in their best interests.

interesting article in time magazine (sept 2006, p. 50) - jesus said, "for what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?
this article states that a growing number of christians say" the question is better restated, 'why not gain the whole world plus my soul?'......
christians should keep an eye on heaven.
What we consider 'poor' in this country, is considered 'rich' in many others. Riches are relative. I do think God wants us to have the necessities to live, but riches, even in our standards can happen but I doubt that God is directly responsible unless he wants and knows you will be using the money for a good cause.
Some truly godly people I've known have been relatively broke. Others have been rich! Go figure!

there are so many after after 52 years in the "borg".. my top two would have to be at my last hall tigard oregon.. one lady slept in her pickup truck with 30 parakeets, sometimes in the kh parking lot.
people tried to help her with accommodations but she like the truck.
she really dressed up for the meetings......feather boa's, big hats, looked like may west from the 30's.
I knew a guy once who was in a home for the mentally challenged. He asked, "Do you know why I am in here and you're not?" I said, "No". And he said, "Because there are more of your types, than mine"!
Sounds reasonable to me!

i was on business in the area of my old congregation ( i live out of state)- the one i first got baptized in back in 1973. they were just getting started on their discussion before service- it was 9:03 am and i just impulsively turned into the parking lot and decided to pay them a surprise visit.
i just walked into the kh and looked at them for 30 seconds.
i didn't recognize anyone and finally they asked me what i wanted.

for some reason (read they are afraid that exiting jws will use them to "stumble" other bros.) my new congo will not issue the normal member list with names, addies, numbers and congo appointments; the same list that everyone uses to call their jw buddies over for a booze party.. i was switched to this new congo two or so years ago and since have heard of two other congos that have stopped distributing lists.
since i have only inquired of two congoes, i ass-ume that the distribution of "friends" personal info is now forbidden?.
please comment all you current members/faders.
The fear is, if you have a list and turn so-called apostate, they would not want you to be able to make a mass mailing to the whole congregation about your reasons for leaving. Some who have written letters of disassociation send them to the whole congregation, timing them to arrive at people's homes at the right time so as to have individuals time to read them before any congregation platform announcement not to read them.

i understand people's growing reluctance to answer their doors anymore with the crime rate soaring etc.
jw's must be a nuisance to many because of this.. however, as a jw did you ever find yourself in a dangerous situation because of calling on someone who was dangerous?
do you feel, or did you feel you would have had divine protection in such cases?

the co visit during those meetings you guys go to.
At a meeting with the Elders during a Circuit Assembly, the District Overseer was discussing the meeting attendance being down.
During the conversation I mentioned that in our congregation, when the public speaker did not show up for a talk most brothers and sisters were not sad, but glad! He said that must be an odity in our congregation only and that somehow us Elders were at fault. It certainly was not the 'norm' according to him!
Shortly thereafter, the Society instituted the program that if a visiting speaker did not show up, a local Elder was to be prepared to give a talk in his place. Oh, crap, no more getting out early!

the reality of the matter was that it probably was more than one.. .
I listened to a tape a few years back, that it was so hot that some baby's suffered heat stroke because of being exposed to too much sun and even one died. But, when suggested that something be said over the PA system about it in the way of a warning, it was nixed because the PA system was for program information only.

i was just doing my page on myspace and this question really stuck with me.
i dont know if something is wrong with me or what, but if i have to answer this question truthfully i have to say i dont have one.
i like to learn about many different people and their achievements but in reality i just like being myself and not try to emulate someone else.
Well, Jesus Christ for one. But I'm kind of impressed with 'Little Toe' from this board. Maybe not a hero, but seems like a good guy!
