i always had a lot of curiosity on gilead..... .
which is the " disciplines " (study course ) that they have?!
Not having ever attended Gilead, I can't give you a detailed class itinerary, however one of my relatives attended this.
It is primarily a class for what most would call 'Missionary' preparation. A lot of time is spent trying to teach you as much about the language you will be using in the foreign country and also about it's culture. Some 'Bible' stuff, but you are suppose to know that before you are enrolled in the class.

this mornings events have got me thinking about things.
i love peanut butter, not the sweet kind but i like the old fashioned peanut butter, usually laura scudder's with no sugar or preservatives - it just tastes better imo.
i put it on everything including pancakes which are really good with peanut butter and maple syrup.
Let's see................my grandfather used coffee on his cherrios every morning instead of milk. I tried it, not bad. I like apple butter on top of cottage cheese. Another weird thing I do is eat popcorn with a spoon instead of my fingers.
I'm sure there is more but this is enough to prove I'm nuts!

the new world translation (nwt) contains thousands of serious errors.
the following regarding john 1:1, one of the most noteworthy verses to jehovah's witness and ex-jehovah's witnesses alike, provides a case example of how and why the nwt cannot be trusted.
there some few scholars that translate the word was "a god" or "a god" or "divine" but they are in the very low percentages.. in greek john 1:1 says: "en arche en ho logos, kai ho logos en pros ton theon, kai theos en ho logos.
I actually like the rendering 'sod pottage' better than 'beef stew'!

i have been 'out' for 3 years.
i have better perception and have shed the delusions of watchtower theology.
Many times the Church Adult Sunday School teachers are looking for guest speakers etc. and if you can arrange a program, people usually know someone or are related to someone who are JW's. While you may not be able to talk to them (the JW's) direct because of your status, the church members can. Keep them off doctrines and deal with the prophetic record or something like that, to say to them (the JW's) when they come to their doors. Also, their own testimony may plant a seed.
And, a bonus, most churches have a little lunch or coffee and doughnuts at their events, unlike most Kingdom Hall meetings! Ummmm !

i don't know about others here, but i couldn't care less about privileges.. i had a couple of privileges, but i really didn't want to get too deep in the org and get too many privileges.
i didn't want to get tied down with that, and have to leave 30 minutes later every meeting, or have to spend an extra hour or two preparing for something.. .
all that counted for me as a dub was "paradise" and "eternal life" .
I had no interest in being an Elder, so they made me one! When a person wanted a position so bad they could taste it, they had to do handstands to even get noticed. Go figure, 'Privilege my butt'. More like 'free labor'!

many accusations are made, freely and (imho) frivolously tossed about, regarding the monetary motivations for various and sundry wts policy/publication decisions.
i have myself made many such statements.. however, if i was pressed to provide evidence for any of these accusations, i would be embarrassingly empty-handed.. interpolations, insinuations, circumstantial evidence, et.
al., aside: what irrefutable evidence is there that the wts has ever made a change simply and solely because of financial considerations?.
In my day, the KM always said the Organization would always provide the right 'spiritual food' at the proper time.
When they would sometimes make the month's book offer some old publication that they had in stock and was out of date even by their standards, that told me something. They wanted the money!
Also, in working in accounting at assemblies, the manipulation as to where the assembly was money wise, to get more contributions was also reprehensible in my opinion.

this may have been discussed before but did any of you have crazy strict parents...i mean did they have even more strict ideas than what the religion already had put restrictions on?.
my stepfather had been a crazy drug/alcohol addict before dragging my family into the "truth"...then it seemed he became obsessed with the religion.
honestly...i don't know which was worse!
Well I was living with my Stepfather and Mother. My stepfather absolutely hated the Witnesses and my mother, even though she had been one in the past, told me she was going to shun (not talk to me) if I 'didn't' get out of the Witnesses !
So, in that sense, my parents were not a problem at all. I do have a daughter along with several cousins etc. that are still in so that is my concern.
