just curious...does anyone know if there are any famous jw's?

i have heard about the jackson family (michael, janet, etc.

) and prince, however, i have been unable to find any official web site information that confirms their beliefs.

i just want to know if jws that have been in the "truth" all their lives, having given all for the "kingdom" die in peace or whether in the autumn and winters of their lives, they are stung by nagging intrusive thoughts... "i have given my whole life to this organisation and where is the new system?".

i ask because these people were taught they were in "the last days" when they grew up many decades or even a century ago.

how can someone go that long believeing it was going to be tommorrow?

There is a scripture that is applicable, stating 'Expectation postponed makes the heart sick'! Many feel that way but have too much invested in time and devotion to 'give it up' late in life.

My father-in-law, just before he died, said: 'They always said Armageddon was just around the corner but it must be a pretty large corner!

The only one who offered to pray with him in the end was the one 'apostate' son, none of the JW's who he so greatly believed in!

has the society written anything on them?

As a matter of fact has much or anything been written about 'Moonies', or 'Mormons', or 'Scientologists' etc. by the Jehovah's Witnesses organization?

i used to be in charge of arranging public speakers in our congregation and remember making fun of the clergy because many of them 'bought' their sermons that they gave in church.

i now believe that was a 'myth' for the most part.. however, it didn't occur to me that jw's were no different!

they got their sermons 'free' from ny.

I used to be in charge of arranging public speakers in our congregation and remember making fun of the clergy because many of them 'bought' their sermons that they gave in Church. I now believe that was a 'myth' for the most part.

However, it didn't occur to me that JW's were no different! They got their sermons 'free' from NY. And you had better read them 'word for word' if you didn't want to be guilty of 'independent thinking!

Why heck, my 10 year old daughter could have given the talks if she was a good reader! No need to study, or understand Scripture, or be a mature Christian, just be a good reader! Why you could even give talks before thousands at assemblies, because someone else wrote everything you had to say!

Well, you do get what you pay for. Would you rather have the 'freebie' or the sermon that someone payed for?

Need new drink!!!

ok this has nothing to do with being a jw or anything of that nature but it is important to me and i need some help:.

here goes i have been drinking rum and coke (bacardi) since i can remember and finally realized that maybe it is contributing to my severly harsh hangovers.

so i went on a quest in search of a new drink.

I have in my possession (somewhere) a copy of Leo Greenlees obituary that appeared in the paper. It is stuck in the pages of one of my hundreds and hundreds of books, but when I find it, I will post it on the Board.

One thing that it definitely said was....."He was loved by all those he touched." I'm not kidding, that is just how it was printed! I'll bet he was!

Anybody else had visions?

when i was separating from my wife and leaving the jws, i had some visions.

for some strange reason, i decided not to eat for a day, then when i found my thinking clearer and my emotions mellower, i fasted for another two days.

so after the third day, i was walking down our street and i saw the houses burning after me, i felt this was an affirmation that marriage was decay and destruction, or wasteage.

HOT - New York State Law - Affects Pedophiles!

hello all: this is a new york assembly bill.

that is why it is preceded by an "a" in the bill number.

also, new york has passed several related bills protecting children, especially against abuse and violence.

Hi Amazing,

One thing for sure, whether we are agnostics, atheists, evangelicals, or Christian apolgists, all of us agree that child molestation is not good!

If everyone on the 'board' would send a few bucks to 'Silent Lambs' to help with their expenses incurred in fighting this JW problem, it would help very much. What do you think?
