  baptising minors

  tonights news has made me think even harder about baptising minors.

  it's one thing to hold adults accountable for breaking wt rules, but it's not right to subject kids to the harshness of shunning for doing what their parents encouraged them to do - get baptised.

  when ever my kids screw up, i'm not that thrilled but i ultimately blame myself for my inadequate parenting - and yes i've been fairly inadequate at times.

  Ummmm how can anyone rationally debate that the WTS does not push young people into marriage? They most definately do! They do it with baptism also.

  ON MARRIAGE:

  You can't masturbate, no sex before marriage, you can't even date unless you are thinking of getting married. But yet you go to public schools (if you're lucky) and see everyone you know "doing it". A child is faced with God's laws (as presented their whole life by the WTS) or freedom.

  Then there are the strict rules on sex after marriage. I have seen so many witness youth marry young (17-20) because they aren't allowed to have sex before marriage. I may have agreed with getting married at 15-20 in the 1300's because of life expectancy, but not in this century.

  What's a greater evil? Breaking God's law about fornication or following WTS polocies? I'd rather take my chances with God.

  From my JW friend's experiences many find they are uncompatable because of never "getting to know each other" because of the chaperone policies. Most have NO sex education because of the taboo the society has placed on sex and your genitals. In the process they have had a child. Now everyone suffers because husband and wife don't get along not that this doesn't happen all the time but atleast you aren't forced into the situation.

  ON BAPTISM:

  I'll have to congradulate Catholics. At least they baptise them as babies when they have no idea what's going on. JWs place an adult decision on a teenager or an uninformed, newly Duped person.

  I would have never gotten baptised if I could have made an objective, non-JW biased, decision.

  Everyone else is doing it. I only know WTS teachings. It must be right.

  I only knew of 3 others besides myself, 2 being my brothers, who went to college. I was in the "in crowd" in Cleveland and can't believe 1% of kids I knew went to college. ( 4 out of 400) Noone went to college in the halls.

  I worked on Habitat for Humanities projects. I did this through my college fraternity's community service program. Helping those in need was more fulfilling than helping a printing empire.

  i found a very interesting / sad thread on a true jw chat site that talked about what to do after armageddon occured.. of the 16 posters only 1 stated concern about the 6 billion people that will die that day.

  how sad and selfish is that?

  I'm going to be so proud because I ENDURED TO THE END (ohh yes I am extremely versed in JW language). I will feel like Noah after he got off the ark. Confident that my children will nolonger have Satan's evil influences - only those of pure/true Christains.

  I'll get to be one of the "new anointed" because I'll be of the first generation of the "new world". I love Jehovah soo much and at the end of the 1000 year reign I'll be perfect! Satan will never tempt me like he did Eve and than Adam because I'll know that for 4 thousand years mankind suffered because of Satan and I would never repeat what they did!

  we've actually been contacted by a number of current jws saying that they think it's just terrible and they'll be demanding change..

  and still the fallout continues..... .

  Good job Ozzie. I am a little depressed, though, because I no longer have the ignorant bliss I enjoyed as a brainwashed Dub.

  The only thing that brings any comfort to me, is if these, I wasted my life pioneering/working at Bethel people, have a TV and will see the march on the 27th. Hmmm, NO.

  What will make me happy is when elders and the GB go to prison for obstructing justice and the WT secret BOE letters hit press. I hope every aspect of hope, any incling of a future as they perceived, and every shread of paradise life as they knew it....dies with the undeniable, documented, secret lies of the GB !

  Hopefully I can make friends with some of these people and when the fit hit's the shan, sit in front of their house with a 60" TV playing the court sentences of the GB, elders, and JW child abusers.

  Sry - those posts they wrote must have really triggered deep emotions. I guess that is how I used to think when I was 15-20 yrs old. That's maybe why this is really bothering me. I DID think that I was going to live forever, that this life was temporary, and surely, "since this generation will not pass away" I'd never grow old.

  Wow - I really thought like that and I guess i'm pissed that I know it's not true anymore. GRRR Damn them for getting my hopes up!

  Lin - it took a couple of reads to understand the situation. My borther has 3 felony warrants against him for selling drugs. He's sitting in jail as I speak. The rest of my immediate family are JW, so you can sort-of-understand (totally different than abuse, but in the same way it is very serious) how I felt telling them about that. His warrants were issued 2 years ago. He never asked me to not tell my parents/sister/brother - but I did end up telling them last week.

  I don't know if that has helped at all.

  Actually in all honestly I want to hear what JWs answer to my questions which will come one at a time.

  1. I have been away from the organization for 10 years now. I'm noticing "the king of the north" exerciseing much power. It also seems like Jeh's chosen people are comming under pursecution from seculiar authorties. I'm thinking Armogedon is near. ( I will one day learn how to spell that).

  2. I know that there are many evils on the internet, but it seems this mass means of communication can inform someone of world events very timely and accurately. Is this really wrong because my family warned me of it's dangers. ( just me but this sounds up to par from the posts I read )

  3. I've noticed a lot of media calling attention to or trying to profit from the obvious child molestation claims. I do wonder, though, when I see reports from the US, UK, and Australia....are they blowing this out of proportion? Is there a problem? I have cousins at Bethel in NY and they told me some people are protesting? Is that true?

  Maybe too much at once who knows - I SERIOUSLY will restrain myself...I want to hear the BS pre-programmed answers they spew from the WT.

  GRRRR! stupid aceptance to forum.

  last summer i got mugged.i have been taking kickboxing classes but i am seriously thinking about getting one of these babies.do any of you carry any kind of protection??.

  the cia model 850 holds 5 rounds of .38 special +p in a lightweight and compact package.

  like the name says - cia...carry it anywhere..

  The freedom to own a gun has been a blessing and a curse in the US. (David Koresh probobly should not have been allowed to own one).

  Pepper spray/mace/ or stun guns are not a means of effective, home, personal protection. Any demented accoustant with a gun just nullified your planed means to protect yourself.
