'75-'95: Counting Down the "Generation"
by Scully ini don't know who it was that started this morbid pastime when i was a young jw, but eventually there were people in my "home" congregation that kept track of obituaries in the newspaper.
they would look at the person's age at the time of death and figure out whether they would have been part of "the generation" that was not supposed to pass away until the "composite sign" had seen its fulfillment.. it was especially disturbing when i noticed the calendars in the kitchen of one friend with dates marked with names of elderly celebrities and their age at the time of death, particularly if they were well-on in years and could have been present at the beginning of the "generation".
the claim was that they'd be able to have a collection of recognizable names and recent deaths to discuss with bible studies and householders to tie in the nearness of armageddon.. i'm sure this was just a manifestation of how much these people's lives lacked anything of substance - to be so focused on ("keeping close in mind"?

I always checked the new year count of the "anionted". Never understood how it got larger until I found out that some could have became "apostate" and had to be replaced...but that should have been replaced, not larger. Correct me if i'm wrong but "new light" first said anointed (this generation) would not pass away, than generation was changed from literal to a "time period" of people......now who the hell knows. It's stayed around 9k since I can remember. At least that's how I gaged it - only from anointed not actual people (brainwashing).
They change their doctrine because there will soon be none left "from that generation" and the "end" still isn't here. Than you have to consider that 1914 is wrong too because 607 is wrong.
Yea I always checked how many anointed were left so I could figure out when to quit leading a double life. 1k would have done it for me.

Would You Now Feel Uncomfortable Taking Blood?
by minimus innow that you know about the truth of the blood doctrine, would you feel, even a little bit uncomfortable agreeing to take a blood transfusion?
btw, my mother asked me if i would still honor her wishes for refusal of blood.
i told her that even though my view has changed, i would respect her decision, even if i felt that it was wrong.

I've been thinking of getting my own blood stored...that never really affected my concience even as a JW. I guess I have to research that issue more because I don't know the "truth" on why it's wrong besides killing innocent people.
I would only do so as a last resort though - Cleveland Clinic is only 20 minutes away from me (maybe some of you have heard of it - supposed to be one of the most advanced bloodless hospitals in the nation). Blood screening processes are a joke and HIV can stay dormant for near 10 years.

I have the latest edition of CoC. The mexico issue and alternate service thing was pretty interesting to me. Malawi (bah crazy country names) chapters made me hate the GB. Spending all their time on DF issues and not caring what they were publishing was disgusting. Only half way through myself and have the latest copy of Christain Freedom sitting on the table right here next to me.

I sent it Friday...maybe today...It's Wednesday.
If anyone is interested - using my own research and others I have put together a really nice 40 page UN scandal piece. Only a few of the pages (5) are scanned letters posted on the net.....the rest are from official web sites. I saved all the URLs in one folder so if anyone is interested e-mail me and I'll send you the folder with all the links. It's a hybred combination of the slide show on "Watchers of the Watchtower" but contains no actual written contentent thus lessining the chance of denying it...though they will anyway....but what the hell.....I'm giving it a shot.

Ohh it's not like, "here's 40 pages print it out and send it"...it's more links and stuff to point you in the right direction to prepare your own argument. You'll actually learn more that way as I did, you just don't have to hassle finding the links.
