friday afternoon, i was in front of my apartment building, walking my cat .
then yesterday, it was the jw's to be on my street.
what's funny is that i don't see mormons more than once per 3 years and the witnesses not more than once a year on this street.
Wait.... you walk your cat

The first thing that came to mind when I read your topic line was, "At the same time?!!!?"
Yep, sure would be funny! And I bet the Witnesses would "cave" first and leave the area for another day...

referring to the press release mentioned at http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/112393/1.ashx, it should be noted that wt is a corporation, with attorneys looking to cover themselves and their employer.
it is noteworthy then to consider what wt defines as a 'known child molester' as it is one classified as such who cannot hold a responsible position in the congregation.. letter to elders march 14, 1997: "who is a known child molester?
the january 1, 1997, watchtower article "let us abhor what is wicked" mentions on page 29 that a man "known to have been a child molester" would not qualify for privileges in the congregation.
It is the public knowledge and the knowledge of the congregation at large (not just the elders) that determines whether this person is barred from office. That leaves a lot of wiggle room for confidentiality and congregation switching to protect a child molester.
BINGO!
I understand that there is a list at silentlambs now of congregations where child molesters have been known to abuse.

i am taking care of two of my grandchildren this week, while their parents are at a business seminar.. today when i took them to school, a large group of kids got off of a school bus and were chatting away in spanish.
then some other kids walked past talking in an eastern european language, i think.
some others were talking another language i didn't recognize.
Statistics (darned if I can remember where from!?) say that before 2020, more than half of the population in the United States will be Spanish-speakers. It is my contention that we English-speakers have got to face the music and realize that the melting pot is evolving and becoming more and more Hispanic.
In my opinion, based on said statistics, American children should be immersed in Spanish (with English grammar & Western literature) for at least grades K-3 in grammar school. This, because it is much easier to acquire a second language when one is young. Beginning in fourth grade, children could elect whether or not to continue on a Spanish track or switch to English immersion. Spanish track students would continue studying English language arts, and English track students would study Spanish grammar and literature. In high school, two years of instruction in a third foreign language would be mandatory. I would suggest Chinese and Arabic be added to the standard offerings of French and German (Spanish instruction no longer being "foreign").
All parents who are multi-lingual should be speaking to their children in a tongue other than English from birth. Oh! how I wish I had done this! -- our children would be tri-lingual by now!
I am a bit of a radical on this, I know. Bringing humanity closer together by encouraging cross-cultural competence is the reason I am studying to become a secondary school French and Spanish teacher.
[note: i am not promoting a religion, a church system, nor a set of beliefs.
i am merely reporting history as i find it.
the early, ante-nicene church fathers spent much time fighting heresies.
What I will say right now, is that the Society never actually quoted the early Church Fathers in the Trinity brochure, but rather, quoted an anti-trinitarian book author's opinion of what the early Church Fathers meant. They made their quotes in a way that strongly implies that they took them directly from the Church Fathers. The Society had to do this because there is absolutely no support for any of their doctrine in the early Church writings. This is why the Society never actually cites the actual reference their supposed quotes were taken. They had to conceal the source in order to make their point appear valid. Unfortunately, Jehovah's Witnesses eat this stuff up that the Society spews forth, but they never seem interested in really checking out what was written.
That is so true, Jim. It was when I was challenged on my JW beliefs and attempted to become an INFORMED apologist for Societal dogma that I realized how disingenuous the Trinity brochure's arguments and "quotes" were! Quite an eye-opener.
I believe I am no longer an anti-trinitarian, but am not sure that I would label myself a trinitarian, either. I am more in tune with that dangerous concept that we are ALL divine....
Nice to know you're out there and working on this, Jim.

alright.. i've been here for over a year.
and i guess after opening my big stupid mouth on jw's thread regarding child abuse it's time for me to share a bit more about me.... .
when i was in my preteens i ran away from home in the middle of the night.
(((((((((sweetie))))))))!
Despite our conversations re silentlambs, you never really said anything. I am proud of you for making this declaration. It's very hard.
I just read an article about a bunch of boys tackling a girl in a local park, pulling down her pants to have a look. The cops called it an assault (they squeezed her breasts, too) and were asking the public for any information it might have based on the descriptions she provided. This was curious kids against another kid -- they were pre-teens -- and the authorities called it assault. What you describe was assault AND abuse. The perverted perp was the wrongdoer here, not you, Black Swan, as others have pointed out.
If you need me to lend an ear, you've got my number.
Love and hugs,
Brenda
it's not terribly impressive, but given the small size of this town and the small number of pubs at the kh, this might be relatively huge.. i just emailed this to the newspaper editor today:i gave blood tuesday, april 4th for the first time.
somewhere, someone's life might be saved by my donation.
i work at **** hospital*** and have seen blood used to bring color to someone's granny's cheeks, to help a new mom recover from a difficult childbirth and to give a young man with cancer a higher count so that he can receive chemotherapy and continue his fight.
Yay for you, merfi!
I am so thankful that I donated blood once (and attempted to a few more times, but have lousy veins!) after I left the JWs. My children donate, but since my diagnosis with breast cancer I can no longer help in this way. Bless you and those who can and DO!
wow, what an amazing group of beautiful loving friends.
i can't begin to tell, all of you, how much your prayers, vibes, reiki, and so many beautiful cards.
branda you have brought me so many smiles with all the kitten pictures it lifted my sprits during some rather dismal days.
(((((((Terry)))))) I am so glad to hear your news!
I am sorry to hear that you have DISH. My brother is also afflicted with that and it's not at all fun, is it?
Just wanted to send you hugs and love,
Brenda
do you witness relatives or friends talk about service and the meetings in terms of.
my spouse always says she 'has to go.'.
kind of like work.
I really don't have any co-workers(that work with me during the day) anymore. I get the building all to myself.
Chased 'em away, did ya?
I'll look forward to your call.
