  Just wanted to express my thanks for the outpouring of love shown on this thread by JanG, safe, sf and nojw. I read some of the replies yesterday, but just was too emotional to respond. Things are a bit better today, thank you all!

  Sorry, too, Farkel, that my response seems to have stolen a bit of your thunder.

  Or has it? Because the freedom to express ourselves openly and the willingness to be kind here on the board is in STARK contrast to the hateful quotes cited above. (Love on the "personal level", Mommy!]

  Did the elders keep secret files on us?

  howdy all,.

  i've recently discovered all the great ex-jw sites on the internet, and i've enjoyed reading other people's stories.

  but a few passing comments in some stories have made me wonder: do or did the elders keep files on individuals in each congregation?

  Some of our ex-elders will likely be able to answer your letter for sure.

  I just know that at my non-judicial-committee, yet three-elder-meeting when I submitted my disassocation letter and they asked me to withdraw it for a month plenty of notes were being taken by one elder as the other two played the roles of good cop/bad cop. He took the notes on the back of the envelope my letter came in. I'm pretty sure the notes he took are in my file somewhere in Brooklyn or Patterson now.

  To LDH Role of Anointed

  hi ldh: i brought this to the top because i felt it warranted some extra attention given that this is a core feature of the watch tower religion.. during my 27 years with the organization, i was openly of the anointed for about 20 years.

  i served as an elder and ms, often being involved in aux.

  pioneering, circuit parts and district convention support.

  I do agree that the deception is not always deliberate.

  I wrote on another thread recently that the problem is that when, for example, a fresh crop of Bethelites arrive they all have an idealistic view of what Bethel service will be like. The reality falls short, and those who cannot stomach the corruption go home as soon as their tour of duty is completed. Those who stay become hardened. More and more so as they move their way up. The distressed ones leave, making room for the newer ones who have no problem with SELF-deception, boxing away doubts in a far corner of the mind, never to be examined again, or their world will begin to crumble. And on it goes.

  I DO believe that the upper echelons are well aware of their deceitful course, but consider it all "damage control" to protect the organization.

  If only they would understand that NO HUMAN ORGANIZATION IS PERFECT and allow themselves to admit their errors. Oh, no, wait! The WTBTS is NOT a HUMAN organization -- it's God's, so it MUST be perfect. And therein lies the problem.

  So the stonewalling goes on, to protect the organization, to the detriment of the rank and file who earnestly desire to have the promised surcease to this world's problems as they check their doubts at the door in their futile pursuit of the New World Society.

  Sisters with unbelieving Mates

  i asked this in one of the threads ( http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=5335) but i would like to explore it further.. am i the only one to think this or did it seem like the sisters with unbelieving mates and children seemed to be "tolerated" or marginalized?

  they never seemed to be "full" witnesses to anybody in the congregation?.

  slip and LDH,

  By the power invested in me as a fellow escapee from the clutches of an organization that would have members treat one another with so little compassion and understanding; AND

  if you will click your ruby slippers three times and say "I'm SO glad I'm out, I'm SO glad I'm out....";

  I will wave my magic wand and you should wake up and find yourself...

  back in the real world, which ain't so bad after all, and where I'm sure you both acquit yourselves as fine human beings.

  Forgive yourselves. (That sister, if she's still in, hasn't thought TWICE about the hurt she may have caused that day!)

  Just found this and thought it needed to be returned to the top, especially for first time visitors and sporadic lurkers.

  I, too, am one of those naive ex-JWs who always thought that the ENTIRE group of Anointed worldwide were consulted on matters of "new light" and that the GB itself would have to have unanimity (prayerfully obtained by all) on any major doctrinal shift made to the rank & file.

  After I read Crisis of Conscience and broached the subject of how the Anointed agreed on the "spiritual food" to my friend who lives closer to Brooklyn and had a member of the non-GB Anointed in her congregation, she had a much more practical view of the matter.
  The GB was the administrative arm of the FDS, any international group needs coordinators, and they were the ones with the power. Simple.

  Simple, yes. But devastating to me, who truly believed that ALL 8,000 or so Anointed ones were holy and particularly blessed for our benefit!

  Now I get to "meet" Amazing on this board, and hear firsthand how deceptive -- once again -- the Watch Tower Bible & Tract Society is.

  So sad.

  JW Pedophile Hits Close to Home

  this is brief because family members have asked that i remain low-key for the present when on public forums regarding this specific case.

  i have provided greater details in a private forum.. many of you may recall my justice series on h20 where i dealt with the issue of pedophiles among jws, often drawn from my experience as an elder.

  while serving as an elder i did object to the failure of elders to report pedophiles to the authorities.
