if we missed it, we would ring each other up for an update...or...if we weren't near a tv we would ask someone to put the phone handset on the top of their tv so we could hear it...pathetic huh...but that was all the excitement we could scrounge up in our otherwise dull and uneventful lives.
one of the elder's wive's conscience got the better of her...and she confessed to her husband..lol.
My sister and some other girls were dragged before the elders for talking to boys at an assembly (they were about 16). They were all in a group over lunch just talking. The boys' mother didn't think they girls should talk to her sons. She thought her sons were too good to talk to those girls.
Never could figure out what harm talking in public could do. Those boys grew up to be real winners. One molests children, the other sells drugs.

When my son was just little I was talked to all the time about spanking him. They felt I didn't do it enough, or I did it too much. I could never get it right. Then later, when I got married (to a non jw), they showed up just long enough to ask if I had sex before we were married. I said no. If they only knew we were living together at the time, didn't get married for 5 more months. They never came back after that. I guess since they thought they could not df me, I was not important enough to talk to again. Now they just consider me a non person, an invisible has been. I like it that way.

went to my grandfather's funeral service at the kingdom hall today.
two or three minutes were spent on grandfather, and the rest on the bible, jehovah, how sin makes our bio cells degenerate, etc.
etc.. fortunately, i'm well past the stage of anger at the witnesses for shoving their religious beliefs down my throat.
The same thing happened when my grandmother died. My mom had me write up her story for the elder that was giving the talk. He made me so mad, he used what I wrote as a stepping stone into his sermon. And other people were stupid enough to think I wrote about her that way. I am not df or da, but I was shunned anyway. I arrived with my sons and my then worldly husband. Held my head high, and glared back at the ones who couldn't bring themselves to talk to me.

My mother tried to say something about that not long ago. She was acting like nothing like that ever happened in the society of so called brothers.
I had to remind her that the brothers convinced her to stay married to a molester, and wouldn't allow her to protect her children. She looked at me with her mouth open. She somehow just doesn't remember all the abuse my sisters and I went through. Why? Because Jehovah hates a divorce.
This kind of stuff makes me so angry, I can hardly see to type.

I don't know if it is peace. But I see the crazy life my mom and sisters live, and I am so glad I don't.

And I don't have to care what anyone else will think.

It has been a long time since I have been on the board. A lot of things have been going on in my life. But I am finally able to see the end. I recently got a job that I am going to love, and was able to leave a job I really didn't like. In fact, I have 9 days off before my new job starts.
My son with all the mental health problems is going to a new school. Hopefully that will help.
And I was finally able to tell my jw mom how much I hated being an oddball when I was in school, and how much I feel that her religion messed up my life. And I was able to do it in such a way that she really listened. My mom doesn't listen much, so I was shocked. And the whole conversation wasn't planned, it just happened. So things are looking up. Who knows maybe I will get to post more than once every six months.

You can't have one without the other. So I am ex everything. I am more dedicate to God (Jehovah is someone I do not recognize) now than I was before. I actually know who he is, where I didn't have a clue as a jw. I know what I am, and what I am not.

i just happened to glance a the date as i was posting 2-13-02. one day before valentines day.
i realized that i don't have a valentine.
i subscribe to the idea that it is better to be alone and wish you were with someone than be with someone and wish you were alone.
Yep, I will celebrate by myself, well, with my two kids. It is better to love myself, than to get a gift in Feb. from someone who is just going through the motions. Someday I hope to find that someone special. But I am not losing any sleep over it.

Great post. I can relate so much. My jw mother gave me and my sister her Christmas gifts from work. She had opened them, wrapped them back in the same wrapping and said, "I don't want them, so I thought I would give them to you." She also sat in my house and wrapped my sister's Christmas gifts for my brother. Out of six kids there are 4 of us doing the holidays now. Every year my mom thinks of a new way to be involved but not involved. It is warped it makes me laugh.

i was baptized 5 years ago and inactive for the past 4... i've been married for almost 5 years to a caring man that was raised as a jw.
he's been inactive most his life :) he hates all other forms of religion and tends to be anti-social because everyone is "worldly".
i don't want my child to grow up as a jw.
Even when people don't go to meetings, they act and think just like they did when they went. If you really want to keep your son from being raised a jw, it will affect your marriage. There is no way to have both. You will have to decide which is more important to you, your son or your marriage. Personally, I have always chosen my children over any relationship. I guess that is why I am not married now. You are in a hard place, and I am sure your husband will not make it any easier for you. Is there any way you can talk this over with him? Sorry I can' t be more positive about this.
