I had just started being inactive in 95, and didn't even know about the change until 98 when I read about it on the internet. My mom, who never reads anything, didn't even know it had happened. She tried to tell me it was all lies, that there was no change. I told her to pull out her bound volumes and start reading. It doesn't mean anything to her, she thinks she is not smart enough to understand it anyway, so whatever the "brothers" say is fine with her.
I was so angry when I found out. My mom had been laying on the guilt really hard in 98, saying that her grandchildren would die and there was nothing she could do about it. When I read about the change, a weight was lifted off me. And I was mad. And I never again went back to the meetings.

Older ones here, what do you remember being told about 1975 ???
by run dont walk in.
i was just a little kid when the 1975 thing came about, didn't pay much attention to it, after it was over, my parents told me it was just some people being over anxious, and being about 8 at the time i believed it, now when you research you find some amazing articles.
what do you remember being told about 1975 as the year got closer ?

I was 13 in 1975. I was forced to be baptized. An elder convinced my mom that me and my sister who was 16 would die if we were not dunked. He said we were too old to go through on my mom's account. She was scared to death. I was scared of the elder that I had to do the questions with. An mean old man. I remember not having any idea what I was doing. This same elder even convinced my step father (the child molester) to get baptized that same year. Many years later the elders met with my sisters and my mother and me to talk about what was happening in family at that time. It was decided not to df this man for molesting me and my older sister, but to just void his baptism and say he never should have been a jw. Pissed me off, I was df at 19 for having sex, but he was not for hurting me. If they had to df him, maybe my mom would have divorced him years ago. 1975 was all too real.

My mom should enjoy this article, if she even goes this week. She has been in a bad abusive marriage for 35 years. Why does she stay because God wants her too. She is doing the right thing, and standing by (gag) right principles. She says it doesn't matter if she is treated badly, she does not have to be happy, because she will be when the end comes. Nothing is important except the end coming. She will read this article and feel that she is justified and that her marriage is her tribulation for 'the truth'.
It makes me sick.

Are You Ashamed Of The Way That You Disciplined Your Child?
by minimus inmost articles in the publications recommended physical punishment, (corporal) when disciplining children.
the scripture says that "he will not die" if you beat him.
so many parents literally beat their children.

Yes!
I have told my oldest son how sorry I am for some of the things I did and said. It bothers me more than it does him. I still tend to yell alot, but I do not spank my 11 year old very often. I have learned more patience with him. If I was still a jw, his life and mine would be pure hell. The kh has no place for a child with mental illness. It's funny my mom sometimes tries to take him to the kh when he stays all night with her. She always leaves in the middle of the meeting. She does not do that very much any more.

Happy Halloween, Folks!
by Farkel inthis was my project for last year, and it took much of the year to learn and play it, but it is "halloween appropriate.
" it is the danse macabre and was orginally written for orchestra only.
franz liszt did the piano reduction, and it is nearly impossible to play.

Awesome. I envy any one can play an instrument. I was never allowed to because I might have to play the national anthem or holiday stuff. Some day I will learn to play something. Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed it bunches.

What was the purpose of Creation?
by ClassAvenger ini was talking to some jehovah witness in a bible study, and we got into a conversation of heaven.
i told him that we would all be in heaven and live there, and he told me, "what would be the point of god creating the whole earth and putting us here then destroying it?
wouldn't it just be easier to repair the earth and place us here again?

I guess I don't understand. what does heaven have to do with God destroying the earth?

I am single and would love to find someone. But it will have to wait until my son grows up. I don't have to time to give to a relationship. If one came my way, I would give it a good try.
