How do women do it ????? Do you have no self respect ?????

125 years of the watchtower, and women are still considered garbage.. they cannot give talks, have a position in the congregation, cannot lead a study when a man is present, give a prayer etc etc etc etc.......... they can be of the annoited class, but a man who is a ms, still has more say !!!!!!!!!!.

to all the women on this board, did this ever bother you as a jw, and does it bother you know ???.

how can women sit at a meeting and in a round about way be treated like garbage and accept it ????

I has always bothered me. That is why I am no longer a jw and I am single. I won't be walked on by anyone. I see how my mom and sister are still treated and it makes me sick. It makes me so crazy that I have to be careful how often I talk to my mom. My mom just came back last weekend from the district convention, and showed my the new great teacher book. I had to put it away. It was making me sick at my stomach. It says that the women followers of Jesus, must have cooked his clothes and fixed his meals for him. (pg. 75-76) In truth these women had money and supported Jesus. He could not have done what he did without them.

I can remember being afraid of demons as a kid. My sister (still jw) has the demon fear bad. Anytime something happens that seems odd, (her whole life) she throws something away. As a jw I was always worried that the demons were following me.

My life is so dull now, I don't even follow myself.

For those of you raise in the "truth" a Question

i myself was raised in the "truth" til i was df'd at the age of 21. i have often wondered that if i were allowed to grow up just as every other child did in the u.s. would i have been interested in looking at the organization and taking interest?

do any of you think and wonder the same thing?

No, I don't think I would have. The only reason I stayed as long as I did was because of family. I even went back after being df when i was a teenager. I needed my mother's help and that was the only way to get it. (Some love huh?) But now, I am willing to give up the family to be myself.

If I had heard the witness message as an adult I would have asked way to many questions. And I would have hated being told what to do. So I would not.

in answering the question about why do jws continue to believe whatever the society prints and postulates we must start with an inward look at ourselves.

every person had his or her own reason to become a jw.

in fact, when we were jws the first question we used to ask of those we recently meet, say in the hall or at assemblies, was how did they become a jw?

Personally I was raised a jw, so I didn't think about it until I got older. But I always hated being different. But my mother chose to be a jw, and I think it is because they gave her all the answers. She didn't have to think for herself, or may any more hard decisions. If she doesn't want to do something, or wants to get out of something she just says her beliefs will not let her. And sadly her life is awful, and she as spent 30 some odd years waiting for the "end" so her life will get better. By waiting she does not have to do any hard work, like learning to be a better person. She can coast through life. It is her escape.

Elders in congregations do know what is happening, and they do nothing. My sisters and I were molested by my new babtized step father, and the elders blamed us, and our mother. And then told my mother that Jehovah hates divorces, so she could not leave him. After all he never had real sex with us, no matter what else he did.

There is all kinds of abuse in the wt. Wife beatings, child abuse, sexual abuse, and no one does anything. After all men pretty much get away with what ever they want in the cong. The jws are no better than the any other religion. They are just better at hiding it.

as far as one person against the other, you error on the side of keeping children save. Do what the public schools do, if there is even a hint of abuse you turn it in. If after an investigation, there is no substance to it, then good. But if there is truth to it, then one more child is saved from a horrible experience.

the wt lies and says that its people never do anything wrong, that they only love each other. That is the biggest lie of all.

My heart is aching!

hi all - i was just reading the responses to the post on beating children in the washroom and my heart is aching remembering what it was like.

i literally have this hollow feeling in my heart right now remembering all the little children that were punished, and those who are still in, but have no way of knowing how different life can be.

you trust your parents to love and take care of you - and then they hit you - but you don't think, "hey they shouldn't do that" - you think, "i'm bad".

That is one of the biggest things in my life I regret. When I was a young single mother (about 21), I would be counciled by elders after the meeting because I didn't spank my son. I felt like such a bad parent. So I started spanking him, wanting him and me to be perfect jws. We were both miserable. He is 18 now, and a couple of years ago, I told him how sorry I was for being such a mean mother to him. I begged his forgivness. He said, I know you were just trying to show you loved me. That made me cry. I was such a jerk. Even my jw mother said I was mean when he was younger. Of course at the time, her advise was do what the elders say. Now I am smarter, and wiser. My youngest son has many emotional disabilities (ADHD, and ODD), I am so glad I no longer believe that you have to beat you kids to get results. I am also no longer a jw, that makes our lifes so much better.

well, i was tempted but i decided not to go to the most bizarre religious ritual of modern times....how about you?.

misty, at first it bothered me, and I figured I was going to die because I didn't go to memorial. But I now know that God is not going to kill me, and I no longer feel guilty. But the first few years, I did, back when my mom was always trying to get me to go. Now she doesn't even try.

Hell, no.!! I sat at home having a few brews and watching Steven Segal kick ass on HBO. Two movies in a row. Hey, can't be much better than this. My mom did call out of the blue the other day, and there seemed to be no reason for her to do that. She had nothing to say really. But I guess she chickened out at the last minute.

Ran into an old friend

today at the store i ran into an old friend i grew up with.

we were both jw kids.

we both rebelled at the same time.

Today at the store I ran into an old friend I grew up with. We were both jw kids. We both rebelled at the same time. I of course went back for a few years. She instead never went back, but her life is a total mess. After talking to her a little I could tell she was still carried around a ton of guilt. When I told her that I had no more guilt, I knew what they said was wrong, both she and her daughter looked at me like I was crazy. I have become much more outspoken in my anger at the watchtower. It kind of made her feel uncomfortable, but at the same time she agreed with me. Honestly I think she thought I was nuts, but it was great fun talking to her again. It was great fun talking about who shuns us and who doesn't.

This is a big step for me, because for years I knew how I felt about being raised a jw, but I never told anyone one else. Now I don't care who knows how I feel.
