Blondie, I feel for you too. No matter how often you get hives its very disrupting. I have actually signed onto a list from the same web spot you mentioned. The group is very supportive and that is just about the best any CU sufferer can hope for. Thank you for writing!

But really this illness has come close to driving me crazy. I've spent a year on prednisone, and it works at high doses. Otherwise I'm on a cocktail of antihistamines which don't control the hives but keeps them from getting as bad as they can be.
I feel like my body has betrayed me just when I started having FUN>>>>

Help!! Learn from the Great Teacher book...and some legal advice....
by Bona Dea inhello.... i don't really know if this has been posted yet.
i know there are quite a few postings regarding the release of the new "childrens" book at this years convention but i don't know if any of them have focused on the articles i've quoted here.
if so, sorry for the repeat.

Bona, I've seen this before... If the husband wants to separate he must leave the house, ALONE. He will try to get you to leave but DO NOT do that.
Once he has abandoned you and the children (Whose minds and physical well-being you are fighting for) Go to Social services (or make an appointment) He will be served notice that he has a legal obligation to support his x-household. You are a stay at home Mom why should you change that? You have no responsibility to cause even more upheaval to your childrens lives (by getting a job just now) than their father has already done.
Then expect the true money loving bastard to reveal himself." Honey I want to come back" " I can't make it paying all your bills and mine." Don't let this happen. DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN. Why? Because you will have to go through this process all over again.
You'll get a lawyer, don't worry. The consultation is usually free. Make sure that your lawyer has all of the same material his lawyer will have ie., the JW child custody pamphlet , the scary cult publications and anything else like articles which discuss your issues. Make certain that you get a psychological test on your husband (in most states you can demand this and he's definitely new enough to go spouting JW propaganda). BTW the husband probably already has the JW child custody pamphlet.
You will get through this. You have strength and support of millions who recognise what is being done to your children. You're smart.
Big Panda hugs to you.

Blondie, Thank you very much for your hard work. I am amazed at how the WTS has NOT changed in its directions to the borg. Your research is welcomed! I consider the work that YOU do as loving and considerate.
Gosh so many loving brotherly actions to tell ...which one to choose? Okay, how about this for a love fest... One brother(not of the moneyed in-crowd) had to have surgery and had both of his legs amputated. He was miserable, and no one did a thing to help him and his wife. If he had a meeting part there was a big to do to get him on stage in his wheel chair. Nothing was made easier for him NOTHING.
THEN... another better connected bro had a tree fall on him and he was paralyzed and confined to a wheel chair. Well, we quickly had a ramp up to the stage and meals co-ordinated and planned to be delivered everyday of the week. Even though this family had youth on their side, nice home etc. They got the attention and LOVE which should have been given to ALL, right?
After I left the borg (I went to college abroad) no one visited my husband after he stepped down from eldering. No one invited him over , yet he was still IN, they still had him and let him go (oops thats wrong.. some good friends who also left the hen house invited him over for some company and dinners) It was sad. When I returned to the USA I got 1 visit from an older brother. He asked if there was any way I'd come back "Nope" and that was that.
Once again Blondie thank you for your love in its many expressions!

Encouragement for new members
by hooberus inthere are alot of new members here, and i just wanted to say that although most here don't believe that the wt is "god's organization" there are many such as myself (i have never been a jw) that believe that the bible is inspired scripture*.
loosing faith in a religious organization does not necessarily mean that you must also loose faith in god.
i have a personal relationship withn the god of the bible and can tell you that he is real and wonderful.

Dearest ALL, My goodness do we really want to send our postings only to Like minded folk? My opinion is that since you are unable to prove or even theorize the exisitence of god, well just let that feel good warmth be enough. And here's a bit of greek geekishness:
All frogs die. Jesus died; therefore Jesus was a frog.

Blasphemy
by ClassAvenger ini was asked how come the bible says that god forgives blasphemy to the father and the son, but not the holy spirit.
if they all are god, what makes the person of the holy spirit more important regarding blasphemy than the father or the son.
sorry, i don't know much about the bible, but i'm trying to learn here, alright?

The early church could not decide which letters or gospels concerning Jesus to use as canon and which ones were OUT. Ireaniusn and Valentinus among others were disputing, disclaiming and setting structure according to what they wanted to teach.
TheCoptic Christians of Egypt believed that the Holy Spirit was the female portion of the godhead. She had always been incorporated and allowed for the acceptance of female prophets etc. Isis is a good example. The mother influence was easily accepted as it stil is with certain kabbalistic teachings.
Indeed the Hebrew word for spirit is gender biased and feminine.
Of course this is yet another instance of "who really wrote the Bible?"

Why Are So Many JWs Ex-Catholic?
by SpannerintheWorks inis it just my imagination, or are a disproportionate of jws ex-catholic?.
were you a catholic before a jw?.
why did you feel that the jw religion was "better" than the "catholic" one?.
-
Panda
Why so many ex-catholics? Because we're such a rebellious sort! AND when studying with the borg we used the Bible... that was really new for me. And I was willing to condemn anything I was raised with at that time. I needed to belong to a select group knowing what the TRUTH really was! jws make you feel like you are real smart to join them.
Now I live in the south and the dubs were baptist and from various non-demo churches. Most of the hispanics I know are not catholic! They belong to small hispanic churches either pentecostal or whatever.

JW Funeral Update
by smurfette ini just thought i'd let everyone here know that my grandma's funeral went better than expected.
thank you to eveyone who offered me advice and support.
it helped me more than i can even let you know.

smurffette, my mother's funeral was conducted by an RC priest who knew my Mom. It was a catholic funeral but it was what she wanted. I went despite "the friends" opposition to contamination by demons hanging around the church. They asked "Didn't you feel funny about being there?" Heck, no I grew up there! My family even had a memorial mass for my mom's associates at work. Just plain ols people who loved her.
Love. That's what I'm talkin' about.

by smurfette inhas anyone here ever brought a never a jw spouse or significant other to a kh function like a wedding, funeral, or even a meeting?

smurfette, I did bring my Mom to a District Assembly, eons ago.... She never made a rude remark. She did her best to be positive and talked about the clean kids and well dressed people. Now I realize she was stretching for me. She travelled up to Wallkill with my elder/reg.pio. husband and me(no Paterson existed at that time) Our host told us that she couldn't stay there but they'd get her another place to stay.
I cannot believe I let strangers take my mother off to sleep elsewhere and I thought it was fine.
How she stood the whole thing w/o strangling me I don't know. My Mom took our host Pete and the 2 of us out to dinner b/c at breakfast we were told that she should not be sitting there with us! (at the caf...oh excuse me the dining room because she was not a borg.) The only time she asked any questions was at the Brooklyn tour. She was a staunch believer in education (so upset about the lack of encouragement to attend university) she asked "what about when you need an architect or engineer? you'll need to hire someone ." The tour guide answered "[ that ]Jehovah would provide what we needed at the proper time." AAAAAARRRRGHHHHH She tried so hard for me, I never realized her own self-sacrifice and strength to try to make my choice seem "OK" with her. Love. That's what I'm talkin' about.

Conversation with mom today re: apostate material
by Jourles inso my mom calls me up today here at work and asks me how things are going.

Mizpah, I agree with your patient approach to your family. Eventually friends who were really close to me have taken the initiative to get back in touch. To be openly loving , not rejecting their tentative re-approaches at communication, will in the end work best. Recently a wonderful friend has gotten in contact with me. I cried real tears to be united with her again. We had been friends before the dub years. I have to admit that her story of mistreat by the WTS is far more tragic than mine, but now she and her family are seeing what can be salvaged.
Getting together w/ folks who love us , now that's what I'm talkin' about.
