The professional women want to wear those expensive Manolo Blahnik's that they've spent from $500.00 to $1,200.00 on and they want to wear them for more than 5 minutes. I love those shoes too but when it comes to the peds I'd let 'em be, heck I still enjoy my old dr.Marten's.

What do you belive happens to us after we die?
by Singing Man ini was raised a jehovah's witness and like most are aware, they presently belive that by and large everyone who dies ceases to exist.
i accepted this fate for most of my life and i guess i still do for the most part, but now that i do not go to the meetings what am i to accept death to be, as i will die as well as my friends and family at some point.
i think that idea of being in gods memory made sense to me as i have excepted it for forty five of my fifty years of being alive.

Well, since we know for sure that the body decays eventually. And we know that decay is relative, and conceived differently by the onlookers, then we'd have to say that all we know for sure is that we replenish the food chain at a low level. That's all we know, nothing else, so why dream up stuff? We have 100% knowledge of what happens after death.

this website is having an impact
by dothemath inhello.........this is a first for me- i've been reading some of your messages for some time now, and i must say you guys study your watchtower far better than i ever did.
i'm still a part of the congregation (and an elder), but i have to say i agree with many of your criticisms of the organization.
we've become just like the pharisees that jesus condemned............at our last assembly, the do and co warned against apostate material over and over again..........so i certainly think you're having a tremendous impact on their actions.

Welcome to this forum. From your post I gather you are really trying to teach the Christian basics. Do people appreciate that in the congregation? I'd imagine some don't, but I could be wrong.
Your post is very sincere and I hope you continue to let us all know what you're thinking and how you're doing.
Please be careful about revealing your personal information because you never know who might be monitoring these sites. I think some of the x-JW elders here will have some good advice for you too. Again Welcome!!! And I look forward to your posts.

OK. Czar took my poem! I know what will happen when I die. I'll get embalmed and my body will be placed in a masouleum with benches for my friends to sit and mourn my passing. In about 1000 years some archeologist will discover my burial place and remove my leathery body to display in a museum. They'll study me intensely. My photo will be on the cover of the NEW National Geographic, and at last --- I will be thin. They will mis pronounce my name... but many newborns will be given my name anyway. How will they describe me? Female, about 99 yrs old, platinum hair, no plastic surgery, one ring on left hand, earrings in 8 pierced holes. Her own teeth!!! She must have been quite the robust warrior. Male found in adjacent chamber with a broken heart.

In no particular order, but most of these I could (and have) watch over and over again.
Antonia's Line --- one of the best tear jerkers ever, I still cry when I see this film.
Hurricane - the movie Denzel Washington should have won an Oscar for his acting
Alien and Aliens(the directors cut) - The original was the template for every sci-fi flick after.
The Color Purple - there is nothing like this film. I wish Whoopi would play more roles like this one.
To Live --- I guess I like to purge my tearducts?
Curdled - Ummm not for everyone
Pulp Fiction - you either love it or hate it
Monsters Ball --- Halle Berry and BillyBob Thornton , acting doesn't hold you like this in every film.
To Kill a Mockingbird - this should be on everyones list
Interview with a Vampire - surprize surprize --- who knew Tom Cruise could pull this off!
Salton Sea - Excellent acting pay attention to Vincent D'onofrio
Saving Private Ryan - Pretty much everything Tom Hanks except Forrest Gump
A League of their Own - "There's no crying in baseball"
Road to Perdition
The Producers (Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder were hilarious)
My Left Foot - My first Daniel DayLewis film. I always knew the Irish were the greatest actors
Last of the Mohicans --- oh god I still get weak kneed over this one, everyone inthis film is just soooo good
Predator 2 - Danny Glover is one of my alltime favorites
Witness - a classic
We were Soldiers - basically most of the Vietnam movies
Platoon --- absolutely the very best Vietnam war movie
Apocalypse Now
Usual Suspects - one of the absolutely greatest casts you'll ever see together
The Hunt for Red October - I've probably watched this 100 times... hey, Sean Connery and a Baldwin?
Musicals: Funny Girl, Hello Dolly, Fiddler on the Roof, West Side Story(I like to be in America, ok by me in America....oooo the dancing)
Okay, I am fundamentally unable to narrow this down ... yes I love movies.

NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! , Why do you think Bush went ahead to invade Iraq ???
by run dont walk inthe war is going on and on, and may be awhile before it actually officially ends.. the original reason for invasion was because of weapons of mass destruction, but that has fizzled,.
so why do you think bush was so keen on invading iraq ???.
oil, money, power, helping the iraqi people, ???.

Good point Stacy. Somehow the protesters think that because they enact some rude behavior like flag spitting that that'll change the politicians minds --- or impress ANYONE? I was just watching some SH/Iraq documentary and I am amazed that anyone would support such a paranoid despot. But if the US is so great that flag spitting has become a favotite Brit past time, well greatness has it's detractors, right?

Have you read FLYBOYS by Bradley
by Panda inhey has anyone read flyboys: a true story of courage, by james bradley?
he also wrote flags of our fathers.
this new work is quite objective in dealing with how the japanese where viewed by the us and vice versa.

That is so great that yah'll will be reading Flyboys. One aspect that I don't even think that the author knew would hit home with readers are his descriptions of the "folks back home". Just reading about the mostly caring and supportive families is so WTS-anathema. What I found was that yes support of the US in war was important, but even more the support of what these young sons wanted in their lives. They wanted to fly. They wanted the newest most exhilerating experience, and yeah a few guys knew the ladies would swoon in the arms of a pilot. These guys were young 19 or 20, they had the enthusiasm of youth accompanied by the quick reflexes and buoyant health of young Americans of the time (for more on US military men's health and what it meant for the War read Citizen Soldiers by S.Ambrose) I hope you enjoy this read.
