Nos, This is a guy thing. Your upcoming marriage reminds Dad that he's getting older everyday and soon he'll die. The fact that he talks about bleeding to death is like a whimper for some attention and, yes, that strong word LOVE. So go ahead and have another last supper. If nothing else you'll never feel guilty. And someday when you find you do love your Dad and he's been dead for years, well you'll be glad you accomodated his insecurity.

One_, I just read this thread. And Nosferatu and Xena have the best responses . I think their experiences have great value for all of us walking wounded. If I may suggest a book, The Road Less Travelled by Scott Peck. It's quite a journey that this man has been on, and I think you will appreciate his philosophy.
At 42 you are too young for the male mid-life crisis. I'd say 49 or 50 is the real mcCoy.

Gretchen: Is this true? I had no idea. Did he actually come out and say he hated homosexuals? Oh man he has always been one of my favorites. I even adored him as Hamlet Prince of Denmark, I even liked his Hamlet better than Kenneth Brannaugh. Good grief yet another idol bites the dust. Very sad.

Is STUDYING political science a disfellowshipping offense?
by somebodylovesme inmy inactive husband and i are weighing the pros and cons of eventually moving back to his hometown, where his witness family is.
we love his family... they are the best people i have ever known, despite being jws.
my husband was raised a witness, was baptised at the age of 11 (which is ridiculous in my opinion), and starting distancing himself when he turned 18. he has been completely inactive for about a year and a half, married me (a worldly girl, ooooh) and is now in grad school for political science.

Political Science is just a way of saying political history. Usually PS includes loads of economics as they are affected by governments, wars, famines, diseases --- pretty much anything can affect the economy, but politics is the biggy.
If you celebrate holidays your husband can just say that you (worldly woman) are his spouse and there's nothing he can do to stop you. And someone mentioned that if they want to df him they'll find a reason.

If the film is well done then I'd like to see it. "Holy Ghost" I love it. That's what I grew up w/ as a Catholic. But I also agree that evangelical groups preach that Catholics especially the Pope are going to hell.

Opinions Please....Engagement Timing
by Stacy Smith ini've been seeing a very nice guy for two months now, every day, almost every minute.
as you know it can become very obvious when a guy is about to pop the question.. i have been very honest with him about when i'd be willing to marry, which is to say not until i graduate from college which is still a 1 1/2 years away, of course i hear things like "well a couple can wait but be commited right"?.
anyway i've bounced this off of my friends and have several opinions already but i thought i'd ask it here.. how long would you date someone before you considered accepting an engagement ring?
