  Swickley, I believe that the way women act around the men in their lives tells volumes about his character. Barbara Bush publicly disagreed w/ her husbands stand on abortion, she was and is still pro choice. Laura Bush is no wallflower and helped her husband overcome a truly evil addiction to alcohol. I don't know where you got your information about Pres.Bush as Gov. of Texas, but you are wrong.

  Blondie, This post gives me some hope that people in the community are paying attention. I think that with the Catholic church that folks recognise the enormity of the molesting but, with the JW's they don't realise the size of the organisation and sometimes skim over the abuse articles. And I don't find anyone talking about the WTS abuse like they do the Catholics. I really thought the Mark Furman interview (which you can hear on http://www.dirtclod.com ) showed how little even people in the news know. I'd like to go around saying "JW's molest kids and may come to your door when you aren't home and your child is home." But I think people just don't get how evil this situation has become.

  Well someone has to say this and it might as well be me. I hate this type of joke. It's so not funny because (and I know many will find this diffficult to believe) these jokes promote stereo types which are mostly myth. Racist -like jokes promote the one group as above the other(s). It just plain is not funny. These types of jokes hurt many people.

  a jw relative brought out something i actually had to agree with.

  we were discussing positive vs. negative aspects of the "truth".

  she brought out that the witnesses do not participate in war, and i thought 'gee, that's probably a good thing'.

  I'm with flower, Badger, and Stephanus ... Especially as Flower noted that they (WTS) takes full use of freedoms others have fought to keep. The advantages given to Americans by not remaining peaceful is never given credit by them.

  Letter to Shunned Mom

  while browsing one of the other forums, i ran across this letter that a jw son wrote to explain to his mom why he is shunning her.

  i decided i would answer it and deal with some of the issues that arose as a result.

  ESTEE, what a sad miserable little man this "Son" has become. Imagine when the realities of marriage hit him. Not inviting a parent to the wedding is that little bit of power "Son" feels he has. Make no mistake this is not about loyalty, it is about the little man's power to hurt his mother. Control control control. Even the way he talks about the future "Mrs.Son" , shows how her pliable nature is important ... well most women out grow the subservient role and *bam* Son will have a wake up call.

  ESTEE your son has hurt you, and you still love him. I doubt he understands where that love comes from. It's almost like the "sons" of shunned Mom's view mother love as second class. Foolish, heartless dubs.

  i have, for a long time been dealing with the option to "get out" as it were.

  i have a wife who is loooked at as "so faithful" in the words of a one influential sister here in ***, wi.

  First, does your wife slap you or slap you around? either way that is spousal abuse and legally she should be charged with battering. I have read that many husbands accept battering because they think MEN should be able to take IT. This is soooo not true.

  It's possible that an appointment with your primary care MD will open up some new ideas for your wifes treatment and for your own sanity. You obviously are suffering and angry. This is bound to have negative health effects on you and while posting here will help the MD will have a better grasp of the toll on your physical health.

  I'm glad you are here, please feel free to vent because we have all been there.

  Do you grind your teeth?

  i've been having horrible pain mainly the back of my head, migraine but not ya know.

  well i went to the dentist to day and he seems to think it is stress <boy why would i be under stress

  does anyone use one did it make the pain go away??

  Yes I grind my teeth and the headaches etc were horrid. My dentist had a mouth guard made for me from a mold taken at his office. It fits well and I don't drool. I have actually (after several years) bitten a small piece at the very end off. It makes a difference. Often there is no one reason for grinding your teeth. It COULD BE anything, it's important to first relieve your pain and then work on a stressless life (tell me if you ever get that).

  in 1983, 241 americans were murdered in beirut by a homicide truck bomber.

  almost all of the dead were marines, army, or navy, and very young.

  today the survivors and surviving family members have gathered to remember their dead family and comrades.

  Yeah, Reagan would have been the perfect President to wipe out terrorism. Maybe the information he got didn't relate to the real dangers of terrorism, but then again after the Beirut murder of 241 Americans ... maybe more should have been investigated.

  I always wondered why the press hated Nancy Reagan so much. They really vilified her every action. Yet how many of them would show such love and loyalty to their sick spouse?

  Yeru: Glad you're back ... Our Lt. in Iraq got shipped to Germany and will now be going to Ft.Hood for further surgery. I don't want to hate Iraqi's ... But if you saw the devastation of this family ... I better let it go.

  Stillelder, Zion, Perry, and Yeru ... thank you all for responding to this post. I remember the day the Marines were killed, I was thinking that more people would remember such a tragedy. Thanks again, Panda

  i ran into my df'd, trying to get back into the dubs, uncle and my jw cousin the other day.

  i was coming out of a movie theatre with my "worldly" girlfriend.

  after a couple pleasantries we departed and they finished cleaning the theatre's windows .
