same thing.. star trek also had lots of good guys.. good guys are banished from the wts.. star trek had the klingons who spoke a bizarre language.. wts had fred franz who spoke an even more bizarre language.. star trek had all sorts of devices which could cure most any medical problems, but of course, they were science fiction.. wts had the electronic radio biola which it sold and said could cure most any medical problem, but of course, that was science fiction.. star trek had floppy disks, computers you could talk to and flat screen monitors all of which were about 50 years ahead-of-their time.. wts had vaccines which were called "filthy animal pus", humans hearts which were the seat of all emotions, organ transplants which were cannibalistic, human personalities which were also transferred with blood transfusions and black people turning white by reading their literature, all of which were 100 years behihd-their-time.. if you missed a few star trek episodes in a row, no one came by to harrass you.. if you miss a few meetings in a row, you are in deep shit.. star trek tv shows and movies are still played all the time, even after 47 years.. wts dramas never even play a second time.

Very convenient...and where do you suppose they learned about Jesus from?
Sanctioning genocide of 25 million men, women and children is not a loving thing to do (though I am not sure what genocide you are speaking of here)... and so you know that he did NOT do it. A) because it is not a loving thing to do, and B) because it is not what Christ did... and Christ is the Image and Truth of God. Not the Israelites, not the bible, not any religion before or after Him.
It's interesting that Christ made many references to the OT in his written account, by doing this he showed that he believed it to be fact. Of all those references I don't recall anywhere where he condemned the Israelites for following gods command to cleanse palestine of all the 'filthy' non-israelites pagan nations (the genocide) to make way for the "promised land flowing with milk and honey". Jesus was up in heaven and watched the whole thing happen and did nothing to prevent it, nor did he condemn it when he was on earth. Silence is consent, and Jesus is just as much to blame as the Israelites for that massacre, if not more because he had the power to stop it.
God and Christ... are NOT religion. Religion belongs to man. Religion is man trying to make physical and 'without', something that is spiritual and within. Religion is man walking by sight, rather than walking by faith.
Religion is a belief system and whether you like to admit it or not you've got yourself your own little religion there.

That is pretty straightforward. But how many people disobey this, and then justify it to themselves?
And how many thousands of years after men lived in caves and groped in ignorance, did it take for this wonderful gem of enlightenment and all the others to be delivered to man? If you believe in god you have to realize that he sat up there and watched men grope in darkness for mellenia, babies starve to death and all kinds of other horrors before he sent a single message. Did he give this message of great enlightenment to all people at once so everyone had equal footing and an equal chance? No, he played favorites and sanctioned a genocide of 25 million men women and children in palestine because he didn't like the way they did things, when he never told them otherwise. Is that a loving thing to do?
The Bible and the Quran are not God. Nor the Word of God. The bible does not even claim to be... it is even written in there that CHRIST is the Word of God.

Tec - So where did you initially learn about Jesus from? Where do many other people learn about their god from and draw inferences about who he is and what he wants? Is there a talking burning bush somewhere that the majority of mankind missed? oh that's right there isn't one, just a bible, oral traditions and "experts" to interpret those... and the wheels on the bus go round and round.
Most faiths that I know of, have love and mercy as being the weightier matters of the law
Without seculism to temper the religious whackos there woud be very little love and mercy, history has already proven that, go check out the history of Christian nations or just look at the current theocratic regimes in the world, it plainly illustrates the horrors that religion is capable of left unchecked.

I've found that spending some time in some real volunteer work always makes me feel better. It's a great way to meet some new people too. I liked to volunteer on occasion with the forestry service, and food banks.

Do you honestly think that those wars would not have been fought, otherwise? Take God out of the equation, and you have people fighting over land, territory, money, power, women, ideologies, etc. Same old, same old.
Politics and religion... a bad mix altogether. Christ said NOT to be part of the world. That his kingdom was NOT from this world, or his followers would fight to establish that. These are pretty clear statements. So how is it that people are going ahead and fighting wars on this world in his name anyway?
Yes as a matter of fact I do think many wars, and unspeakable suffering would have been prevented without confusing messages of what god wants. There are quite a number of mainstream interpretations of scriptures which assert that their nation is part of god’s kingdom. The bible is full of examples where god uses nations to do his bidding, how do they not know that god’s heavenly kingdom isn’t acting through a proxy nation as god did so many times in the past? There are millions of 'Christians' right here in the USA that believe the USA is an instrument of gods kingdom. For god being so in tune with humans and supposedly knowing us better than we know ourselves his inability to clarify matters illustrates that he either doesn’t really care or he is daft to reality of how human minds work.
Despite the above words that everyone is privy to... it has not stopped people from doing their own thing, according to their own desires. Following kings, religions, governments.... and not Christ. Same old, same old.
No he hasn’t but perhaps if he cared about people he would at least give them indisputable information and evidence that isn’t so easily subject to interpretation, from which humanity can make better decisions from.

Well it would certainly help people to be more tolerant of one another, for example perhaps the Muslims would stop believing it is there ultimate destiny to bring about Sharia to the whole of mankind and become members of the human race. The only reason the Christians are not doing the same today is because most of the countries they reside in have become secularized.

We're not talking about children. We are talking about men (and women) who have chosen their path and who a) want the freedom to do so, and then b) want to blame God when things turn out exactly as He warned them that they would, according to their choices.
How comforting. One can't help but wonder what confusing/conflicted information about god led to many of these bad choices throughout history. For example think of all of the scores of people that were burned at the stake, killed during the crusades, suicide bombings etc. killed because someones holy texts made them feel that "if god is for us who could be against us"? A great many wars throughout history started on that premise.
If someone makes false claims about you in public, the responsible thing to do is to clear it up. Even us feeble humans would fight such with vigor. Really all he had to do is set something up like idestructable pillars all over the earth (or something like that) that precisely communicate who he is, and what he wants, so that people can make informed choices. This would make it as plain as day, to everyone, all the time, that he is there, and ensure there is no confusion and conflicted ideas about who he is or what he wants. This doesn't seem like a tall order for someone who is supposed to be almighty.
You might say that God will fix everything at some later point; so gods solution is to have them unlearn the suffering they endured . Wouldn't it be more loving and economical to just prevent it in the first place? All of his terrible communication, and lack of involvement shows what little regard he has for human suffering. If god really was there, and is this loving god as the bible and other religious texts purport him to be, than surely he could have set a much better example in love than he has.
Yes yes...he sent his son to die for us and then later on Muhammed to try and keep us on the straight and narrow through Sharia, but really what good has that done for mankind as a whole? Has it stopped suffering, injustice? One could argue that all its done is to inject more confusion and suffering into the equation.

Its not like we don't have the mistakes of countless generations as examples. You would think we could at least learn from those. Sometimes we do. Sometimes man is just led by the same greed, power, ambition, etc, as always.
I think in many ways we are learning from the mistakes of the past generations. People are waking up to the thought that this whole god idea that was dumped on us from our ancestors is completely broken and devoid of all logic and reason, something he supposedly created us with.

the elder knew nothing about the scandal, but he stated that he had no issue with it since when the case was brought to light, the society acted immediately to right their course.
in fact he thought it was a sign that that the organisation was indeed the "truth".

as they were doing the names i was saying to myself, "she don't work", "she supposedly can't work", "he hasn't worked in years", "she gets a check", "she's probably gonna lie about the amount of hours she did" etc.. gotta love it.. i don't know if this happens in your congregation or not, but have you ever heard someone remark about someone else behind their back, "she can show up at every gathering, but she can't show up for field service!

Hmm...I wonder what god would say when he is called out on the untold suffering he has caused because of his confusing and conflicted messages regarding who he is or what he even wants; and how about the banishing the devil to the childrens playpen (as if there wasn't another planet) ? I don't think god would stand a chance in any court of judgement, if you accept any of that as fact. To think of the audacity that the bible says he is going to judge us!
