  Losing Faith in Faith..

  i came across this lecture at 3am not being able to sleep by dan baker.

  it details his transition from christian fundamentalist to atheist and the various shades in-between.

  he realises that every denomination of christian can open the bible and prove to you that they have the right interpretation and everyone else is wrong.

  "Let's be honest here.. there simply is no verifiable testabable evidenece for a God.. if there was someone would have won the nobel prize by now".

  This is a great point. If the bibles claims are true that there are angels manipulating the physical realm, protecting people etc., we would have overwhelming evidence of it by now. Why? We live at a time where practically everyone has a personal video recording device on them at all times. Yet, there are zero, nada, zilch, authentic recordings out there, which prove anything even remotely supernatural has ever occured.

  i am compelled to write a bit about this at this late hour here in the us, because it is keeping me up.. the recent four year old thread on the briggs myers personality type test that was dug up, produced an interesting finding.

  many here, (at least tested informally for), the intj personality type.

  intjs also do not understand irrational behavior particularly well at all.. why does this matter?

  The Pastor of my Old Church Tried to Re-Convert Me Yesterday

  yesterday evening my wife and i were invited to friends house for new year's eve.

  we met them when i was a christian and we have kept in touch.

  they had a few other friends there as well, including the new church pastor and his wife.

  And the fantasy heaven you hope to go to isn't? If this heaven place is so much better than a WT run North Korean like world, then why according to the book that you profess to believe in was it not good enough for 1/3 of all who ever resided there? The god of christianity is a narcissist. Bravo to the mythical beings of the bible fiction, that had the courage to decide to not spent the rest of eternity on their knees in slavery bowing to the petty god jokehova for their existence.

  How much responsibilty are we willing to assume for ourselves and for our neighbors ? How much predictability do you think is going to make you feel both safe and free ?

  All of it. It's time we stop burdening, and confusing future generations, and ourselves, with these damaging and foolish notions that there is an all powerful god out there who is taking sides with true believers (tm), and is somehow going to fix everything, and right every wrong.

  @villagegirl - A key point that you are not factoring into your rebuttal, is that those tribal people had to figure that out on their own through generations of trial and error. How many died through the ages because of this booby trapped world? God certainly did not give these people insight on how to preserve life in the face of such dangers. Since the begininning of time mankind has had to figure it all out on our own anyways (earthquakes, volcanoes, disease etc.), why is this god you have worthy of any worship given there is zero evidence that it has provided a shred of help to mankind?

  Finally learned how to live the REAL real life

  someone suggested i post an introductory thread.

  i am a married, rather young grandma of four precious rugrats, ages 2-9. i guess our only child son and his only child wife didn't want their own kids to be "onlies".

  my other half and i married rather young (18 &22) and will be celebrating 31 years together this summer.. i am sort of add, keep thinking i am still 28, love my husband now more than ever, and am so glad i woke up and left the crazy cult.. my husband and i began studying months after marrying and then decided to take the dunk.

  tootired2care, if SBF "left" posting here because of fears of reprisal from elders in his hall, you didn't do him any favors by letting on that he still lurks here.

  Not sure where you got that from.

  If you look at his opening post on this thread he stated his reason for leaving.

  After some considerable thought I have decided that I will no longer post on this forum because I want to return to Jehovah.

  So are you saying that his statment above is a cover story?
