"I worked hard as a Ministerial Servant and all I got was this lousy drinking problem!"
by Mr. Falcon ini was driving home the other evening pondering the past couple of turbulant years for me and my family.
i reflected back on my appointment as a ministerial servant and my attitude, beliefs and thinking at the time.
i thought about the subsequent misery that being a servant brings once the the glow wears off and people stop "commending you on your fine spiritual progress.

3.5 years vs. a lifetime of going door to door.
by tootired2care indid it bug you as a witness that jesus only had to go from door to door for 3.5 years, and he was done; while he demanded that you do it for your whole life without preparing for the morrow?
i just remember a few years back reflecting on the daunting prospect of doing it my whole life if the end didn't come - "sooner rather than later".
what are your thoughts?.

Your right Mr Freeze, with all the better methods they have now it is a cruel and absurd thing to force their members to do. But that's what happens when you try to follow past examples too literally.

TEC - none of what you just said refutes that they did go from house to house preaching. Certainly they did go into peoples homes for hospitality too, that is not in dispute. There are also many possibilities for the subjective statment of Jesus Do not move around from house to house, It seems from the context he was referring to lodging protocols with that.

Man this one drifted off topic.
LG - Thanks for staying on topic, I agree it makes me mad that they just didn't care about the cost, and diminished joy on our end having to go in door to door service all those years.

Cornelius was the first gentile Christian, so after he came in, and was accepted, would it make sense that they wouldn't talk to gentiles at their door? Of course not!

Well for Muslim extremists they believe God is sanctioning their actions (and they have the religious texts to prove it), as did the crusaders - so no let's stick to the words RELIGION and God. The worlds history gives ample concrete evidence that God is a worse communicator to all of earths peoples, than a Dell tech support call center in India at 1 AM EST. This evidence is sufficient to say that either God is waiting for a future event or that he isn't interested. It sounds like you don't believe the former.

“Keep on, then, seeking first the kingdom and his righteousness, and all these [other] things will be added to YOU." -- Matt 6:33
“Keep on, then, guessing if your seeking first the kingdom and his righteousness, and all these [other] burdens will be added to YOU, while you figure how to finance it all, and hold your breath for confirmation." -- Matt 6:33

TEC - Consider the context and content of the scripture - teaching and proclaiming the good news. The passage is not talking about gatherings. The evidence is plain - it's in writting in that passage nonetheless. Just because you say it isn't so, doesn't make it so. I think you might do well attending some JW meetings for some better bible education.

We are saying that WE are responsible for what is happening in this world, and we are responsible for doing what we can to help others. Right now. We have to do it. It is on us.
Great so here is a BIG present day problem that is still is festering.
Muslims who closley adhere to the texts in the Quaran (A.K.A Islamic fundamentalists); who are intent to blow the world up. In few words RELIGION and God. Christians have just as much culpability, the've just toned it down the last few hundred years.
It seems to me the only way past this for all mankind; is to grow up, and stop pretending that God is there and using this crutch to justify actions that are unacceptable.

Tammy if we're are arguing the same thing, than what is the point of wasting time worrying about what God wants or does not want if we're on our own anyways? Let's call a spade a spade, and agree that worrying about God is a waste.
