He is referring to John 1:1; when really that passage means that Jesus is the spokes person for god, his ambassador if you will. I really don't want to get into a trinity debate though , those are so boring.

Personal attacks aside...I thought you might say that. Sab, The last time I checked Christ isn't here, and he's not doing anything by way of practical instruction or help, and there is no proof to the contrary. If it weren't for the bible you probably would not even know who Christ is...think about it. It's interesting to see how your willing to dismiss the bible though.

I didn't say he was a spokeshole, but to be fair you have to ask yourself the question; what teachings from the bible led him to take such a position? He is an example of what happens when someoene tries to follow the confusing teachings of the bible to make this country as you put it "a more spiritual nation". Who really is the arbiter, enforcer and authority of the correct version of Christianity today?
Do you see how slippery of a slope this really is? This same tired pattern has gone on, in circles for the last 2,000 years.

The only way to interface with the east is to become a more spiritual nation, not less.
Sab - I don't think the crusades worked out so well, when the west thought God to be on their side was at its zenith. And please don't insult our intelligence by thanking Christianity for women in bikini's and freedom. Christianity does not equate to freedom, and hasn't over the last two mellenia. As an example of what modern day Christianity would impose - Rick Santorum (a Christian) wanted to censor the internet. Christianity when followed to the letter, leaves just a moderate margin of freedom more than Islam does.
You can attribute freedom to those pilgrims/free masons who escaped the church of England, and wisely decided to have separation of church and state. That is the primary reason we are permitted these freedoms in this day and age.
In the final analysis God does not want freedom for his subjects, he wants them to choose to do things his way or die.

a major cme or flare could wipe out civilization by destroying power grids everywhere.. this is why i get so angry about global warming hysteria - there are far more serious threats that could emerge in months, not decades ahead.. i also understand that a small asteroid is scheduled to come breathtakingly close to hitting earth in two years.

What I think of is just the sheer arogance of it all! You have a group of men who admit they are not inspired, yet they feel they have the end times trademarked, when nothing else has happened the last 2,000 thousand frickin years! I think in the next few years they are going to have a complete revolt on their hands over their education policy and many other things.

What if Adam knew his wife, before the sin?
by Nambo ini sometimes wonder how things would have been if adam and eve had procreated before eating from the tree of knowledge, and the ramifications of such.. if any children didnt also eat of the tree, would we now have two groups of humans on earth, one perfect and living forever, and us.. would god have split the two classes of human, putting eden on another planet or dimension or such?.
does this indicate that its all deliberate, that god knew satans plan so let the play unfold before letting adam and eve know each other?.
or does it just mean that satan was allready corrupted and wanted to get his deed done at the very beggining to ensuer he had everyone?.

The other thing that you need to factor into mainstream theology, is that much of it was interpreted a certain way to unite the masses, a political scheme if you will. Case in point, if you read up on Constantine The Great and the Council of Nicea, you can see how they twisted things to get Pagan's and Christians under one unbrella.
For me, someone who does not trust much in this world, I will lean towards taking the viewpoint of the bible texts in context (compared with other bible texts), to draw my conclusions about God, over the interpretation of those whose agenda was to control people similair to the what the WTS does today with all their silly pharisiac rules.
