I always found it so odd that the only unforgivable sin in that awful book the bible is to offend something that was never even defined -- Holy Spirit. I suspect it was used as means of control, to keep the sheeple tip toeing around in life, paying their tithes and never daring or having the audacity to question the BS of the charlatans who supposedly were guided by this undefined force.

by Viviane ini've always wondered that.
recently i asked that question on another thread and didn't really get ananswer.
cofty made an excellent point that we often hear what it isn't, but that really isn't useful.. so, what is it?

"Probably You Might be Saved" - Somewhere in Zephaniah As I Recall
by Perry inthe watchtower (and old-timers in the org) love to quote old testament passages that were directed toward israel.
however, the new testament is "a better covenant based upon better promises".. in the following verses, salvation is not described as a possibility, but as a certainty, as a present possession for the original christians:.
justification is a present possession (rom.

Perry, I'm sure that everyone trying to find Jebus/Joke'hova et-all is just like that guy in your pic; on an endless fools errand, wasting their lives away. Meanwhile, people who decided to not believe in bronze aged fantasies have managed to split the atom, cure many diseases, and double our lifespan etc. Why is it that your god can't seem to help our species one iota; furthermore, why is he/it on record in that crappy book called the bible for reflecting the backward thinking of first century palastine?

Why would anyone want to do that? It's 2014! That would be 2,014 years of complete silence, while your lame god does nothing. He can't even be bothered to send a postcard. Where is this promised return of his anyways? I guess he must have went AWOL, because that ransom check to himself obviously didn't clear.

The Spirits of God
by Stephen Levi inrevelation, chapter 1, 4: john to the seven churches which are in asia: grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven spirits which are before his throne;.
revelation, chapter 3, 1: and unto the angel of the church in sardis write; these things saith he that hath the seven spirits of god, and the seven stars; i know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.
revelation, chapter 4, 5: and out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven spirits of god.

Yes, it all makes perfect sense now, the seven spirits will make their way through all the earth. Not quite there yet though, drink more!

Look! It was very good or: Evil in the Animal Kingdom
by TheOldHippie ini have fed a number of birds regularly thru winter, and among the species were some doves.
this spring, two of them took a liking for each other and teamed up.
for a couple of weeks, extensive construction work was jointly done and resulted in a nice little nest, undoubtedly a cosy home for the small family which expected to multiply.

There seems to me too much misery in the world. I cannot persuade myself that a beneficent and omnipotent God would have designedly created the Ichneumonidae with the express intention of their feeding within the living bodies of Caterpillars - Darwin
Chimpanzees kill their neighbors in order to acquire territory, new research shows. http://news.discovery.com/animals/zoo-animals/chimp-war-behavior.htm
After I heard about these two specific cases above, my prior views that everything was designed by a god of love quickly faded. As you observed with the crows, nature is indeed full of suffering without any help from man at all.

Yep, 1.1 billion vs. 350 million people, the only thing that is surprising here is that this didn't already happen much sooner.

Improving your memory
by snare&racket ini have never had teaching on memory, i have never really had any advice given to me on memory, but i think it is something we would all benefit from knowing, even at a young age.
as we know how our brains make connections now, it seems a missed resource that they don't overtly teach memory methods in school to suit our anatomy and physiology.. anyway, for those that are interested in discussing it and have sought out your own methods, i am interested to hear them!!!.
everyone has slightly different memorising techniques, i am a very visual learner and i have a very visual memory.

This is an excellent thread.
It is silly that good memory techniques are still not required school curriculum. In the last few years I've definitely noticed a bit of decline in my memory that I've always taken for granted. I've been wanting to read some more books on this subject, there are just so many out there though, that it's hard to decide which ones are the best ones to start with. In the past, I've read a couple from Kevin Trudeau which were mediocre books at best, and only marginally helped.

The Dogs are Barking-Has Putin got a TRILLION DOLLAR Surprise for the West?
by fulltimestudent instratfor runs this story, as bait for a subscription to their news/intelligence service today.. but, the dogs have been barking about this for weeks now.
actually, the story goes back as far as ten years - but i'll get to that.. stratfor's story today states:.
with tensions still climbing over ukraine, vladimir putin has urged european leaders to negotiate with russia hinting, in an open letter, that moscow could shut off energy exports to eu countries.

Fascinating, thanks for sharing, this very well could be the starting formation of a new set of Axis powers opposed to the west, I don't like where this is headed. It's time for Obama to start being more flexible with people who aren't America's enemies and get the keystone pipeline, and that missle shield in Poland built.

@DJS - I don't attempt rational discussions with chimps.
chimps = those who have a differing point of view from super professor DJS. Yes, that's quite rational, well done!
You really have arrogance perfected, don't you? Ironically, it's clear by your childish behavior that you're actually the hater here who has to resort to name calling in lieu of weak arguments against personal freedom. I feel sorry for your students, it must be a very stifling environment for any who have the audacity to disagree with you. I find it interesting that you constantly make a boast of your credentials, and yet seem to have nothing better to do with your time than hanging out in a cult recovery forum calling people names. This must give you that ego boost you just can't quite attain in your life otherwise. In the future, please feel free to ignore my comments, and I'll gladly continue extending you the same courtesy.
Good day to you.
