  I have to agree. You have every right to say NO to your child going anywhere near a Kingdom Hall. Another thing to think about,,,. Your son is two years old. How is he going to act at a Kingdom Hall? If he puts up a fuss at having to be quiet for so long, what kind of discipline will he recieve? Is that discipline sanctioned by you, his mother? I know time alone sounds great, but think of what your son would have to sit thru. He won't know or care what is going on, unless he makes too much noise. I don't know how your mother is with your son, but I have seen too many children beaten for goo gooing to loud during a meeting.

  i talked at length with ray franz this afternoon regarding the following comments by bill bowen: ray franz supports the wt policy on child abuse.

  he is the author of the two eye witness rule as well as the slander issue that prevents anyone from warning another of child abuse in the congregation.

  it is interesting that wt is willing to fight to the last man standing for a policy that in large part was founded by their biggest apostate.

  I will chime in here with my own thoughts. I think the Silentlamb cause is very important. I think Bill stuck his foot in his mouth worse than I've seen in a long time. I would hope TO GOD he is really ashamed of what he has started. And hopefully when he comes back into the country (whenever that is) he will extract that foot as cleanly as is humanly possible.
  My only worry is,,, I just got one of those great bumper stickers from freeminds. ( I wanted to make an outward statement supporting Silentlambs) I just put it on my front door for all the Jehovah's Witnesses to see when they come a knockin'. What if he has screwed up so bad that the site goes under? Well, I know it is sorta selfish, but I'd hate to be sayin' na na na and thumbin' my nose at them, and the site isn't even there anymore. You know what I mean?? That would really make them feel superior and I can't stand the thought of that at all. You know their first thought would be "Hum, I guess Jehovah took care of THAT one!! HAHA!!!"
  For that reason (as selfish a reason as it is) I'm a little peeved, and I sure hope that BB can clean up this mess when he gets back.

  What TV shows couldn't you watch as a JW Kid?

  we had a whole list of shows we were not allowed to watch including 'speed racer', you'll never guess why.

  it was beacuse in the theme song it says "he's a demon on wheels" but then my mother was a jw fanatic lol.

  My mom would allow us to watch Scooby-Doo because it wasn't REALLY supernatural. Everytime, they proved that it was just some person trying to scam someone.

  BUT, she decided that she couldn't take my neice and nephew to see the recent movie, because evidently the movie has REAL ghosts in it. She also mentioned a lesbian scene, and said something about the fact that that didn't bother her so much. I don't get that woman!

  i would like to stress that although i have good reason to be angry and bitter, nothing i say here is said in anger but only in sadness.

  i write this to say that if i could take back many of my words i said in that experience , i would.

  I don't want to be insensitive or anything, but I can not always be on this site and someone mentioned the story of ELON's son is here. I do not know of it. Could someone point me in the right direction so that I may understand his plight better.

  first off, let me express that bill bowen would not know me from any stranger on the street.

  i have never spoken with him, or have i ever corresponded with him.

  the only information that i have of him is what i have read of him on this forum and on silentlambs.org.

  Great post Andee.
  Wish the thread hadn't gone so far off topic. It seems to have turned into the "Is there, or isn't there, a god" topic.

  Your post was quite well thought out and seemed very balanced. Hopefully the right persons will read it and move forward in a way that will help the cause and not hurt it.

  There was one post that mentioned emailing Bill. That might be a good idea. You have some experience, it seems, and he may be receptive to any help he can get. Although I know it can be hard to stick your neck out there with an idea that may not be recieved well.

  I will keep my fingers crossed that should you decide not to email, he will see it anyway and think seriously about what you had to say.

  you want to leave the jws, but you are told you are free to leave, but you will be announced as da and you will loose all contact with your family, because they will believe you have done something very very bad.

  No - I doubt that would work. Only because the word 'apostate' disqualifies you from having a legitimate opinion. Therefore, you couldn't be the 'worst' apostate, because they don't know how bad an apostate is. They are just apostates, and by that ranking they are no longer viewed as someone to listen to. They are completely disqualified from the human race as they know it.
  At least that is what the rank and file would see you as.

  Besides that, someone, earlier, was talking about a lawsuit of some kind against the WTBTS. I have a question. If the reason no lawsuits can be brought against them is because everyone has a choice to be in or not, even if they regret it later. (Maybe the 'full disclosure' issue could be brought up-Maybe they don't have to fully disclose anything. Sorry, just an interesting thought) Ok, so back to the reason no lawsuits can be brought against them. What of those who were born into it and had no choice? Do they have a cause of action? They didn't choose to be in the "truth". And when they try to get out, they are punished. It is not their fault. It wasn't their decision.
  How far off am I? Please enlighten me.

  It breaks my heart to know that they killed another child. And that it was yours tears me to pieces. I hope the future gets brighter for you and you win any court case you bring against the Borg. I tell your story to everyone who will listen. I want the whole world to know how awful they are.

  How to get personal file from WT???

  i would like to know, if it is possible, for someone, who leaves jw's (or is df) to get his personal file, stored in kingdom .

  hall and in bethel...i mean the judical commitee hearing notes, s77 form (or a copy of it), publisher record card and all.

  other documents...what kind of request must one do an to whom?

  Even with a court order, I think they just tell you that your record has been destroyed. But there is no way to know if that really is the case or not.
  I think _ Franz tried to get some record from them. And they just told him that they destroyed it. Can't remember if he went to court over it or not.
