  do you think in view that they now have wt production videos.. (a costly endevour) that they might in addition to the www, local and literature donation boxes start a wt video productions box with special guilt laid on parents with small children to donate ?.

  it does seem to be all about the money so it wouldn't suprise me...how about you.

  Would You Listen To A Prayer From A JW And Say Amen If They Said A Prayer In Your Presence?

  my mom has had visits from various jws and they have asked her if they could say a prayer before they left.

  i respectfully listened to the prayers while i was visiting and might silently say amen if i felt the prayer was appropriate for my mom.. i'm just curious, how would you handle this type of situation?.

  Nope. I will silently agree with points I find agreeable during the prayer at meeting and suppose I would do the same if it was done in a more private setting. But I won't give them the satisfaction of verbally agreeing with their load of crap.

  Awkward, but kinda funny encounter with JWs today

  i live in a majority-minority neighborhood, so i get the double witness whammy of my street being worked by both spanish- and english-speaking congregations.

  jws come to my door about four times a year, but i stopped answering years ago.

  what's interesting is that about two years ago, they stopped knocking on my door or ringing the doorbell.

  That is pretty funny. Just shows that in general most witnesses don't really care about people. They care about carrying out the duty that the org has placed upon then. Since they believe that they have the truth and want to save "deserving ones" their message should be like a fire within them that cannot be contained. But really out of the hearts abundence they DON'T speak unless under obligation. That's why the org is pushing informal witnessing so hard these days. Cuz no one will say anything unless they are specifically out on orders to speak.

  "Dress Code" for JW Funeral / Memorial Service

  so, i'm attending a funeral for someone that was in the local congregation today.. i told my mom what i planned on wearing- a cute, dark grey blouse and some nicely tailored black pants.

  she just about lost it.. mom- "you can't wear pants, it's at the kingdom hall!!!".

  mom- "well, i guess you could, but you would feel so awkward and uncomfortable.

  We all know women wearing pants is frowned upon. The reasoning and "scriptural support" is ridiculous. Women should wear whatever they choose that is respectful of the occasion. I personally find some women that wears a pant suit well very sexy. Preferably with heels. Pants don't make you manly. They are just pants. I know elders wives that wear shirts that are completely sheer on the back and you can see their bra straps thru it. Again...kinda sexy but much more disrespectful than pants could ever be.

  i found an article today that discusses the new batman movie.

  growing up, i remember the batman and robin tv show from the 1960's, and i assumed that the dark knight movies would be along the same lines.

  Just to be clear, I was referencing The Dark Knight, not The Dark Knight Rises. Dark knight Rises is pretty crazy. Still not bloody but non stop violence from beginning to end.

  i'm a big science nerd and i remember when we were going over the creator book, that the big bang doesn't necessarily prove there is no god.. i said this comment during book study and the conductor's jaw dropped.

  everyone was pretty uncomfortable and it didn't help that he ct me off as i was explaining the red shift and mom wasn't too happy about all that.

  i had to do a lot of bible research and write some nonsense about how the big bang was not reality or some sort...ugh.. .

  I used to run the stage at our hall. We had this uber elder and his hard on was for dress and grooming. One Tuesday day night my shoes had a couple scuffs on them. Mind you that at that time I fully fit into the orgs dress and grooming standard. Always nicely pressed suit, usually French cuffs with cuff links, metal collar stay inserts and shiny shoes. So after meeting he comes up and asks if I think it's an appropriate example to have on dirty unkept attire at meeting? I of course say no, not realizing he was talking about me. Immediatly after my response he says," make sure your shoes are in proper order before trying to set an example for the congregation" and walks off. Douche. A
