I did a search for "Jehovah" on Kazaa just to see what would come up and I found this song by Paul Thorn.
Some of the lyrics:
She goes out witnessing, doing the Lord's work all week
But on the weekend, she's making ends meet
Joanie the Jehovah Witness stripper
Put a dollar in her g-string, and she'll deliver
If her Daddy only knew, he'd probably kill her
It's actually not a terrible song. I wonder what inspired him to use the strange lyrics though. You would think this is like a Weird Al parody or something but it's not.
I get the impression Mr. Thorn was never a JW because "evil" "worldly" people tend to use the term "Jehovah Witnesses." I had a friend who always use to say it like that.

"The Bible's Hope for Mankind"
"Dark days are here, men live in fear, with dire expectation, as to all creation...
"Blindly they grope, having no hope, as the system nears its end"
"But the Bible gives us a reason for cheer, due to all the proofs that the Kingdom is near...."
"Life's darksome night, filled with much fright, None can be denying, for all men are dying."
"None from the grave, his life can save, All man's work is vanity."
"But the Bible holds out a hope for the dead, That a resurrection for these lies ahead."
Hilarious lyrics set the tone for this one, and perfectly convey the witnesses ideology of "we are good, the world is evil." I have to fight back laughter whenever I hear this. But seriously, this song used to scare me when I was little. Some of the lyrics sound like a Metallica song.

What was interesting is that Serena Williams (a witness) was on the show that night.
She didn't say anything during her interview but it could have been an awkward chat if she had brought the joke up.

Name some must have rock records
by Leander ini've spent a lot of time on allmusic.com and it amazes me how much nirvana is mentioned when the reviewers rate other albums.
so its a no brainer that nirvana's work should probably have a place in every rock collection, but what are some other albums every rock fan should listen to if not own.

Dissociated family excluded from funeral services
by Pardus inapparently, disassociated relatives are not allowed to be in the procession lines at kingdom hall services.
they can attend but they cannot be with their relatives to receive condolenses.
this happened recently to someone whose aunt had passed away.

All of your replies have been very interesting. Nic, I am with you, and I would do as I wished in that situation regardless of what the elder's think. I may have used the wrong words when I said "allowed." I don't think the elders would have physically stopped this person from being with her family (I believe that is illegal).
Plmkrzy: I was not at the service, but I do trust the person who told me. I have not seen this happen either, but apparently some elders are more picky about the "rules" than others and choose to enforce this nonsense. They are inconsistent though. At a previous service at the same hall, a disfellowshipped person whose son had passed away was with his family and received condolenses and no one said anything. This is why this person thought there wouldn't be a problem. And couldn't they have called this woman to let her know that they didn't want her in the service line?
For me personally, it just adds more fuel to the fire.

Apparently, disassociated relatives are not allowed to be in the procession lines at Kingdom Hall services. They can attend but they cannot be with their relatives to receive condolenses. This happened recently to someone whose aunt had passed away. She was told by an elder that "it was not appropriate." He had consulted with the society and they said that anyone dissaciated should not be in the line because it could make some people uncomfortable.
Doesn't this strike you as another silly, trivial, and unnecessary extension of the shunning policy? Yes, this woman could have ignored the elder and joined her family, but she was so offended that she ended up leaving. How sad. Has anyone had similar experiences?

I just saw it today. I thought it was excellent, right up there with Batman (1989) and Superman 2 as my favorite comic hero movies. It was nice to see the Macho Man Randy Savage again; i grew up watching him in the WWF. So Dr. Octopus will be in the second one? I can't wait. It would be cool to see Venom too, but he isn't as well known to old-school fans because he debuted in the 1990's.
