  What is the goal of the silentlambs organization?

  i have followed the silentlambs issue for awhile now.

  i saw the special on dateline, and read a few things on newspapers and online links.

  i have a question though and wonder if someone could answer it for me, as this was asked to me by someone "outside of the organization" and i did not know.. .

  This was something that has bothered me for a long while as well. Having reflected on the issue for a while I would think their objectives would be for the Society to realize the limitations of their untrained elders.

  Child abuse is a crime and along with many other issues such as marriage counselling, substance abuse etc. they are simply not qualified professions and need to refer these individuals to those who are. In cases of criminal matters, the elders need to contact the authorities personally.

  After years of commenting on things they have no clue about, the Society should realize that they are way out of their league in so many areas. People have put their trust in these men, only to realize that so much guidance and advice was bad. And after having given such bad guidance they always beg off from accepting any responsibility for what they have strongly "encouraged" people to do.

  I don't believe the existance of the WT Society is consistent with the ultimate objectives of Silentlambs. This is a religion that by what defines it ultimately harms people and creates victims. No matter what changes it makes, it will never be enough to make it stop hurting people.

  i've been lurking about, checking out some of the evidence against the wtbs.

  i am currently inactive but still an approved/baptized member.

  i have seen all the 1914/607bce evidence; the blood transfusion quandry evidence; the current child abuse problem evidence and several other things that are damning to the wt doctrines.

  I think you are on the right track. The pieces will fall into place in time.

  Sometimes I kick myself for not seeing what seems so obvious now. But really, I saw it all along and just dismissed things and made excuses for things because I was afraid of the alternative - that it wasn't "the truth".

  You already know it's not the truth but are at the point of trying to justify the good u feel you see in it. "Maybe God is still using this organization". "It all can't be bad. I know lots of good people in it".

  There is a fear of what you will become or where you will end up when all of this is through. I assure you that however painful the present is and however uncertain the future is, you won't regret this journey.

  From a nonJW perspective this will probably be a non-event. From Brooklyn's perspective this is something very disturbing. Headquarters will probably be dead with the usual JW answer to confrontation... garbage bags over the windows (lol).

  There is an increasing amount of organizing (i know we hate that word) in opposition to them. People are coming together from all over, making connections and are united in a common cause against them. Any JW in a position of authority in this organization cannot help but be concerned over these things.

  Success is measured in many ways and sometimes success is not appreciated until long after the event occurs.

  I would suspect that this quote is a primary reference to what is taking place in Russia. Their references to Korah's rebellion lately would fit the Silentlambs scenarios more accurately imo.

  Very Bad News Re: Post Yesterday

  i'm not sure how to put this news gently to the community here, but regarding my post yesterday regarding chantelle.. thankyou for all of your kind messages and warmth displayed on your parts.. chantelle was only 16 when disfellowshipped.

  only 18 years old with her whole life in front of her.

  she took her own life this morning at 0400hrs.. i am so sorry not to have been in a better position to get your letters to her in time.. take care all of you & kindest regards.

  I think Vicki will be awarded a judgement in her favor but not to the extent she could have with better legal representation. It would appear the judge is inclined to accept her complaint that being forced to attend the confrontations with her abuser was damaging but seems likely to reject her claim that she was prevented from getting professional help.

  I think this is a shame because I believe both allegations could have been proven with a more competent lawyer.

  But the verdict isn't in and no matter what happens, the case has been very damaging to the WT. Much probably has been learned for future cases and I'm sure the WT is very concerned for what lies on the horizon.

  Vicki deserves alot of credit for seeing this through.

  I'll let the others fill in the details.. There were some interesting moments.

  hiya!!

  hope you all had a super marvellous weekend just gone, spent some of my time saturday and sunday, just floating quietly on my boat on the quiet and serenely beautiful waters of the helford river's creeks, stunningly beautiful it was, wow!!

  came into work this morning, monday, as bright as a button, though straightaway received some bad news about a young lady from a fellow co-worker enabler at self direction community project.

  imo this is the time to ditch those not having confidence in you and embrace those that do. This is not the time to roll over and die but the time to pull yourself together and rise up to show your parents that you will go the distance with or without them.

  My parents also destroyed my baby pictures and while the sadness of that is long gone, to this day people are still shocked and horrified over such behavior of so-called respected Witnesses. My parents have shunned me as well.

  I simply have no use for that kind of behavior and have no intention of pining away for some pitiful excuse of a relationship with them. They made the decision to shun me just as your parents made it clear to you how they feel. You just have to move on and replace them with people that truly appreciate you and who care about you.

  It sounds much more difficult and colder than it really is. It is certainly better than maintaining these awkward and strained relationships where everyone is always upset, on edge and phoney.
