Zazu,
Sounds like a good plan! I hope you've been able to travel some. I have one son who seems to think travelling is a mission in his life. He enjoys it a lot.

didn't know where to post this, but i thought it might be fun.
it was in ann landers or some such place years ago.. if you had your life to live over, say from age 16 or 18 onward, what 5 things would you do differently?.
my choices might be:.

i'm having a crisis in my family and really need some advice and even (((())))!.
background:.
daughter is 28-yrs-old.
Hi Enlightened UK,
Thanks for all the good advice.
Actually, as the week transpired (after hellacious moments throughout the week--you'd have to know my daughter), a social worker did get her into a program 1/2 days for mothers. It seems to have gotten her onto a better track . . . we'll see.
Elisabeth, thanks for the note. It's good to hear from you--I've missed you. Hope everything's okay at school and going swell.
Love to all,
Pat
Hi Larc,
Thanks for the nice thoughts. You know it was so ironic about Waiting and me. She had left the Borg about 1.5 yrs ago and I didn't even know it. Just knew she was a bit negative about it.
Then, one weekend in March, I had a 'light-bulb moment' and fast-tracked right out. I called Sis a couple of days later and said 'how do you feel about the WT?' I could sense hesitation, and then said 'I quit meetings 2 weeks ago.' Then she sent me a bunch of books, etc.
But what was ironic is that after decades we both left--independently --within about a year and a half. For different reasons, too.
I'm sorry to say I didn't progress well in the 'true believer.' I've been reading books on evolution more, as that is of such interest to me.
This IS A GREAT PLACE to meet and chat!
'Waiting' also put me onto this place too! I owe a lot to that sister o'mine! As the old song goes: 'hubba, hubba, hubba, ding, ding, ding, my little sister has everything!'

by now most here have read the terrible story of a pregnant witness, theresa giarrano, who was murdered for her unborn child.
the story appeared in vogue magazine shortly after the events took place; it is only now, 10 months later, that the awake (july 22, 2001 issue) has published anything about this tragedy.
though the story is "as told by" theresa's father, james giarrano, it is such a twisted piece of exploitation that i can only believe a ghost writer or collaborator is behind it.
Thanks Dedalus for that summation and opinions. I can't believe the things I didn't notice when 'in' like the similarities in all the 'as-told-by' stories.
Larc, The funerals ARE really a sham and just another occasion for the 'spreading' of WTS doctrine. What a DISservice.
What a sad situation. Thanks for updating those of us who never crack open the pages of the WT and Awake.
Pat
Joel,
What a clever comment: I don't want her in my car group! Thanks for the laugh!

I, for one, am appalled at the cattiness of the supposed JW. When I was an active JW, I would NEVER have associated with so-called apostates. And I did not know one JW of my friends who would have.
So, "Sue" is not here out of any honest desire, but just childish, petty high-school taunts.
What kind of a JW is she? Be what you say you are! If you're a JW, be one. If you have doubts, address them. If you're out of the WTBS, then be honestly out. What kind of a person acts like she does? How bizarre!

i have read many accounts of human tragedy on this board.
i have also read the recovery that people have experienced once they got out from under the oppressive and destructive world that was the watchtower.
i find it amazing that when people receive a modicum of a healthy environment how they are able to heal, sometimes quickly and sometimes more slowly, but the progress is there.
Hi Larc,
Thanks for the perceptive, whole-picture editorial on this board.
I agree completely. The bickering that goes on is part of being human. Maybe it's because everyone had to subdue any tendencies for so long, it's more noticeable here.
This is such a cozy place to visit and share ideas everyday. It's been a HUGE part of my transistion to normal life.
Pat
dear patio, i heard this song while i was getting ready for work this morning and thought of you.
you must be going through hell right now trying to function at work, worrying about the grandchildren and at the same time watching your daughter self destruct.
{{{hugs}}} .
Dear Seven,
Thanks so much for that song and heartening words. This board and all you folks have meant so much thru the travails.
Nomenclature,
I hope your friends are doing okay. That's worse than my situation, I think. Although I did that 2 years ago too!
Waiting,
Thanks for the cheer. The sinus infection has cleared up now!!
I've had more friendly conversations and friends here on the board than I ever did in the Borg!
Thanks from the bottom of my heart.
((((hugs))))))

Tina, Thanks for the tip and the support. I'll be making a bunch of phone calls Friday afternoon when I'm off work.
Somebody, thanks for the good wishes. And especially at the end: 'peace.' That's the outcome I'm looking forward to after this storm.
I did finally take the big step this evening and filed a report to the Protective Services. It's been causing a lot of stress: should I, shouldn't I? But then she made it known she's taking them back tomorrow. So I have no choice for their protection.
On the bright side, maybe by having this agency involved, she'll be more careful. One can always hope! It's not that I want to deprive her of her kids, just that they're safe.
Love to all,
Pat
its strange now how i find such a huge contrast between the words of the gospel accounts of jesus and the interpretation of those words by the wts.
to me it seems there is little of the gospel jesus in the wts attitude to sinning and to sinners.. i recently reread lukes account of when jesus went to the home of the pharisee, simon.
during the meal a woman of the city, a sinner, bathed jesus feet with her tears and dried them with her hair.
Hi Ya, Thirdson,
Haven't seen you in a while! Interesting post and very correct, I think. Except I couldn't, wouldn't read all of the Wt article. I've only been 'free' for about 3.5 months, and I get a stomach churning feeling from their writing. It's completely involuntary.
