Who pioneered with the promise of having 'Jehovah provide' and ended up dirt poor anyway?

i ask this because the wt always bangs on about if you trust in jehovah and make that leap into pioneering, you will always be provided for.

Well, if Jehovah provides, and the society is God's representative on earth, then why doesn't the society have a retirement program for Jdubs who have been regular pioneers ? Sure they have generated enough revenue to justify it.

Instead, these have to resort to the "evil" organizations such as the Red Cross and the Salvation Army to receive some assistance.

As we know, the Org only gives a sausage to whoever gives them a pig, so unless there is a financial return, the Org will absolutely not give a dime to anybody.

Is there a 'third' way to leave?

once baptised, apart from death there are really just two ways to leave the congregation: df or da.. but notice this quote:.

Another way of fading is to do a congregation change. Go to a new congo and tell them you are moving there. They will ask the old congo for the J-pub card, etc.

Once the transfer is completed, immediately start fading from the new congo. Since you are really not known by anybody, there is very little chance that anybody will follow up on your absense. You will also be out of the old congo's radar as you are not part of that flock either.

When i got married i told them i was going to attend my wife's congo. She had already faded, but they didn't know that. I was never bothered about why i wasn't going to meetings on either congregation, even though now everybody realizes are i'm not attending at all.

The key as others have said is to not show any anymosity towards the cult to anybody that is outside of your close friends and family.

Is claiming your baptism null and void an exit plan?

i have read some of you talking about baptism not being a legaly binding contract as, for most it was undertaken as a minor.

has anyone successfuly nulled their baptism and exited free of consequence?.

There are no legal avenues to do this. Baptism of a minor is simply an intent of association with a religious organization in the same manner that babies are baptized as catholics. It is not a binding contract.

It's association into a private club. And the owners of the private club are free to kick you out if you don't follow their rules. It's religous law and the state does not regulate religious law. Even when the two conflict, civil law prevails at a civil level, while religions law is ignored but not forced to be changed.

It's the same issue with trying to make the case that when you got baptized, you were pledging allegiance to God and not the Watchtower society. There were several lawsuits after the "Bethel purge", and none of them was successful in convincing a court that the Org did not have the right to disfellowship based on those baptisms.

Instead, the only result was for the Org to adjust the baptism question to make them more in line with the concept of subjection to God through the organization.

So, forget it.

I take confort in the fact that the Watchtower society had to resort to a robotics expert in order to get support from someone in the field of science.

Certainly, this person is no dummy, but likely he knows as much about biology as i know about robotics.

Why did the organization stop providing food during conventions?

i'm sure many of us still remember these times when the organization used to sell food at conventions.. i also remember that when this was stopped, the official reason was that the "brothers" were missing some of the program because of all the preparations.

typical watchtower "pretend we care" excuse.. i've wondered if there is another reason behind it, tied to perhaps finances or logistics that was the real deciding factor.

history and typical "modus operandi" of the society tells me that if there was some money to be made that way, they would not have stopped.. wonder if anybody has more info on this..

Ahh yes, i didn't think of the "Tax issue". I guess they would have to pay taxes on that as well, so it went away along with litter-a-trash sales.

i know this is an odd idea.

maybe it is even silly.. but, i do daydream..... .

what if you were informed that you are disfellowshipped and you flashed a huge smile and said, "nah.".

Certainly, this course of action brings debatable value. We all know that for the majority of JWs, something like this would cause them to think that "Satan is more active than ever" - even sending apostates to disrupt their meetings. This would, yet again, support the idea that world is out of get them, and would probably benefit their cause.

The real value here, is purely for entertainment. To make a parody of the obnoxious and unchristian Watchtower rules and treat them for what they really are....a joke. Mature?...probably not Appropriate? ...doubtful. Entertaining? ....Hella ya

Just thought of something to bring the charade to the next level. I would try to also bring one or two friends along, so that at the end of the meeting, although nobody would talk to you, you could stand in the back with your friends, in view of everybody, socializing and laughing away just like everybody else.

If someone call pull that off for a few months, they should be given an Oscar.

If you didn't disturb the meeting, i don't see how they could block entrance to the KH. However, it would be hard to deal with the elders asking you every meeting to please "don't do this and that", and calling you to the back after every meeting to threaten and remind you that you shouldn't be doing this.

Nobody would talk to you, and would probably mock you on top of it. Still it would be brilliant to do that, and then create a blog to report back on how each meeting went, i know i would read it.

My advice is actually to meet with the CO. You already mentioned doubts you have, so at this point they already probably have enough to call you to a JC meeting.

If I were you, I would play the system at this point. Meet with him, tell him that you still believe in the Borg, but that you are burned out because of personal issues and work and, that this is leading to some emotional issues at every level. Most likely he will think that you are just stressed out and will think it's reasonable for you to step down. Then, simply never show up again.
