I don't mean to pounce on our European friends, but in my experience this is especially problematic in Europe. Not to say that here in the US, you don't find smelly people, but in my travels to Europe the stench of B.O. is pretty common.

Dealing With Smelly People
by minimus ini can never understand why some people simply stink.they don’t smell themselves??
i knew of certain jws that had to be counseled many times because they refused to regularly bathe, wash their hair or use deodorant.
and it’s not just witnesses.

I can see that happening at a rented facility, but when it comes to a 'memorial' at the Hall...
Yeah i suspect that most of the niceties seen at the reception were part of the package suggested by the mortuary. These days they offer packages such as day with TV screens, memoirs, picture boards, etc.
If the Org had their way, it would be a bland service with a speech to promote the Watchtower.

Canadians and Europeans, what do you think of your national health care ?
by RubaDub inwe have been in a battle over health care for so long here in the us regarding public, private, gov't subsidized, obama care, medicare for all, and just about every permutation of the above.. we hear the horror stories here that people wait 20 years for a check-up (ok, bit of an exaggeration), but you get the point.
one side tells us that canadians flock across the border when they are sick and need to see a doctor.
the other side says that is simply not the case.. so tell us, if you live under one of the government systems would you replace it?

For government sponsored health care to function properly it has to regulate what medial procedures and drugs cost.
That's correct. Now if the prices were set with the goal of having the patient pay, then the market itself would regulate this. There would be not need for government to do this.
Btw, you even see a similar logic when you have an accident and go to the body shop. As soon as the shop realizes your insurance will pay, they inflate the amount of parts and costs needed to repair, as opposed to being a lot more judicious if they realize the cost will be paid by you.

My parents live in Europe. They have national healthcare. When they need to go to the doctor, they make an appointment, go and pay close to nothing. It does take time to schedule an appointment, sometimes weeks, but this assumes it's not urgent.
if it is urgent, then they can go to the emergency room, or go to an urgent care, or go to a private clinic. Even in a private clinic the prices are very low compared with the prices in the US.
The issue with health care in the US is that prices are set with the expectation that the insurance companies will pay. This is why a hip replacement costs $35,000 +. If the health care providers expected the cost to be paid by the consumer, then it would cost as much as a TV. And this is generally what happens in Europe even outside of national health care.

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is Dead
by cofty inthe so-called caliph, one of the most evil men in human history, has blown himself up along with three of his young children while being pursued by american special forces.. the ambition of isis was to expand the territory of the caliphate under the leadership of al-baghdadi to whom individual jihadists swear allegiance.
now isis have nowhere to call home and no leader.
what a pathetic bunch of losers.. they will of course appoint a new caliph and reprisal attacks will no doubt follow in western capitals by christmas but the more contemptible they appear they less likely it is that young men and women will join their delusional cause.. respect to the elite forces who hunted him down - those on the front line and the many intelligence specialists who made it possible.

No immigration reform.
Where is the wall anyway? Possibly the biggest promise of the Trumpistan regime, remains undelivered, though to be fair it was dead on arrival.
Even as the Left spirals out of control, the fact that Trumphft was not able to deliver the "wall of shame", could well cost him the relection.

What happens to Bethelites?
by rickroll inso if someone puts their life into serving the cult for free at bethel, then say after 25 or 30 years they are not able to for one reason or another such as illness, or family issue or old age, does the cult have any safety net for these people or is it you serve until you can't and when you can't you just go away?

They spend their active years claiming to not be a part of the world, but when necessity strikes will quickly resort to Ceasar's social security system.

Well done to the American commander-in-Chief who will probably Tweet about his success for a long time to come.
No doubt he will, though his involvement was nothing more than nodding as his advisors told him they were planning an operation to capture that animal.

Dont meet with them .what they gonna do ?
Agreed, don't even meet. Do a preemptive strike, and step down. Use the busy, not feeling well reason for lack of preaching hours and that it's better you take some time off. As you do this, you are already preparing the way to stop preaching altogether.

Did you EVER falsify your report card ?
by Chook inevery single watchtower soldier lied to god out of fear of the brooklyn popes..
-
redvip2000
well... doesn't every JW fake their report? Every hour that is reported, is actually only perhaps 5 minutes or less of preaching. The rest is driving, stopping for coffee, waiting in the car while others do return visits, stop in between houses to talk about your weekend, standing in front of a door after you rang the bell 20 times and you know nobody is home.

Another one bites the dust
by stillin ina close-by young brother, actually your basic, garden-variety, sexually-repressed, 40-year old virgin in the congregation has been charged with sexual misconduct with a minor.
i've known this guy since he was a kid and he has always been strange, in a nerdy kind of way.
he always wants to sound knowledgeable and wise when he comments at meetings, but i think he is bi-polar and depressed about who he is in life.

Based on growing up with a pedophile father, I am not so likely to have much empathy for pedophiles. I tend to have empathy only for the victims.
Yeah, but the reality is that we know so little about the brain, that perhaps we really should empathize with those folks. Empathy in the sense that they were perhaps born with a pathological disposition to like certain things that are disgusting.
We still should punish them, but nevertheless it could well be they were dealt a hand by nature that makes conforming to rules a much harder proposition.
