I notice they said they will let the Elders know how they can contribute to this, i bet they did not mean with Audio or Visuals contributions, but, as usual with the money grubbing Org, with $$$.

They need MORE $$$$$
by TallTexan ini haven't been to a meeting in years, but i was recently told by a friend of mine that they have really been hammering the 'use of your valuable things in support of the kingdom' in many of the talks and thursday night parts.
i know they used to mention it all the time, but he said it's gotten really bad lately.
i told him that's because the membership in the western (translate that to "richer"...lol) countries has really fallen off and even become negative in many countries and that the 3rd world countries can't contribute enough to support the great publishing empire.

Give us your money "in support of the Kingdom" ? What Kingdom ? The Kingdom based in Warwick, where the G.B and their toadies live in splendour.

Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread
by Simon inthis topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.
latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.
the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

The U.K now has 456 cases, and the NHS, cash starved for over a decade by Tory Austerity, an unnecessary Political choice, that achieved nothing, apart from an understaffed NHS, without enough essential equipment, including basic protective stuff for Staff.
Add to this our decimated Social Services, and the fact that much caring work is done by elderly relatives, and we have a recipe for disaster of huge magnitude. That is not scare-mongering, it is fact.
The U.K is a mere 16 days or so behind Italy in the effects of this virus, the U.S.A about the same behind us.
The sensible measures, basic commonsense, as outlined by Simon, are unlikely to be seen in the U.K, until it is way too late.

Islamophobia & anti-Semitism
by The Fall Guy inthe muslim council of britain and uk jewish organisations want the uk government to enshrine into law their perceptions of what kind of speech constitutes islamophobia or anti-semitism/hate crime.
should british christians follow suit?
in the movies & on tv we constantly hear actors shout out, "jesus christ.

Antisemitism has been defined above by LUHE, as has Islamaphobia. But the latter can descend in to Racism if some people lump all followers of Islam together with the Islamic Extremists who become terrorists, obviously this is wrong.
They do not extend such racism, if you like to call it that, it is really extreme ignorant bigotry, to Christianity, strangely, which has its own extremists who bomb Abortion Clinics etc.
I fully endorse what LUHE said above " Any religion is fair game for questioning, criticising and poking fun at. ".

How many Christians were there in the 1st century?
by yaddayadda injust been reading former long-time brooklyn bethelite tom cabeen's very encouraging article entitled "where is the body of christ?".
(can be found at http://divinetruth.homestead.com/bodyofchrist.pdf) .
in his article, tom says: "when john received the revelation around the end of the first century, there were hundreds of thousands of christians, even by conservative estimates.

They have always claimed that they are going back to the "true Christianity" as practised in the 1st century, so they agree those early followers were true Christians. This of course ignores the proof that there were a good number of Jesus Cults in the Ist century, with wildly differing beliefs.
But quite obviously the number of Jesus followers must have been great enough before the end of the Ist Century, when the Borg says " Apostasy" began, to have more than filled 144,000 places in heaven.
Just another stupid JW Doctrine that does not stand up to scrutiny.

Do you think any of the GB have different beliefs?
by neat blue dog indo you think any higher ups know that much of the doctrine they teach is bunk?
thinking back to the time of raymond franz, how he pointed out specifically numerous teachings that the churches really did have right all along, and really any of the hidden mic apostacy trials you listen to on youtube, you see that even when inconvenient bible teachings are proven, the elders just try to sweep it under the rug and move on.
i think i remember franz saying how one of the gb approached him somewhat sympathetically, but there was nothing he could do.. whether you believe in the bible or not, there are some basic beliefs common among most denominations because they're just so plainly stated, such things as heavenly life for all christians, no central authority structure, minimal use of god's name, etc.

I should guess that all of them have internal doubts about some of the Bulls***, as all of us must have had, even if with us, it was something as almost trivial as the excessive Rules, rather than actual Doctrine.
But it must have been seriously rattling to them as they formulated the various changes over the Generation Doctrine, knowing that they were being simply reactive to the passing of time, and just making it up as they went along.
I think they know quite well how dodgy the whole thing surrounding 1914 is as well, from the time in the '60's when Carl Olof Jonsson wrote to them, and proved 1914 was totally in error, and then published his Book on it, they must have been inundated with letters along the same lines.
They may fool themselves that, regardless, they are still god's org. but they know they are lying about this.

No, I only became aware of the extent of Authoritarianism and Mind Control after I left, as well as other things, the spur for me to leave was the fallacy/downright lie, of the 1914 Doctrine, which simply is nonsense, and therefore the G.B are self appointed Charlatans.
