The irony of 2 Tim 3:16-17
by pseudoxristos inall scripture is inspired of god and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, that the man of god may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.. most scholars don't think paul wrote 2 timothy.. every time i here a witness quote this verse, i will be reminded of the irony.. -undisputed-.

Just as an aside, it is my feeling that the evidence against Paul being the writer of 2 Thess, is much heavier than anything claimed to support his authorship.
As to "all scripture........" it is my thought that Paul would not just have rated the Tanakh, the Hebrew Bible as we call it, as "Inspired" but would more than likely have given equal weight to the thoughts of earlier Rabbis not contained within that "Bible", we are shown in the Gospels that Jesus did just that, his " Golden Rule" being a direct rip off of the words of Rabbi Hillel.
But as pointed out above, these writings were all he would have had, the Gospels being written years after his death, and he certainly did not think of his own writings as "inspired of god".
But of course the " all Scripture......." quote comes from the pen of a writer pretending to be Paul, Prof Bart Ehrmann calls these Letters not just pseudepigraphy, but " Fakes".

Of course the Apostle Paul ignores this bit if the writings of Epicurus, assuming he knew of it, though other Philosophers posited similar ideas.
The accusation attributed to the Athenians that he was " a seed picker", that he chose what he would take on board, and what he would ignore, seems to be true in his case. Pick and Mix Philosophy was his way.
I raised this question of the Paradox with an Elder I met in the street on day, and the thought of why Nature was "red in tooth and claw" that Cofty mentioned above, we talked for a minute or two, and then he literally ran away throwing over his shoulder the comment " But there is no answer !". He must have known that if he had not run off my reply would have been, "yes there is........ that your god does not exist".

An Elder threatened to come round and see why I did not study with my unbaptised kids, because as an M.S I was not "setting an example". I was not going to indoctrinate my kids, even though I was PIMI at the time, so I promptly resigned, to preempt any discussion.
It was funny, 'coz one Elder told me he admired my move, and the BOD asked me to carry on much as before, with various Duties, I was still asked to Pray before the Meetings at times too. I don't quite know how they explained my resignation to the C.O , but I bet they didn't tell him it was because I would not be bullied !
I concur with the advice not to get baptized.

G.B of JW`s trusting in Jehovah ? or Trusting in Men When It Comes To A Crunch !
by smiddy3 injehovah`s witnesses have taken it upon themselves that they have been chosen by god to be his witnesses in what they believe to be the last days ,the time of the end spoken of by the prophets of old.. they are on record as stating in their publications that it is their calling and duty to preach this message of announcing jehovah`s kingdom loud and clear publicly and from house to house even when under ban.. which they have done on many occasions in the past putting their trust in jehovah .. taking to heart acts ch.5 : 17- 32 which states in a nutshell ," we must obey god as ruler rather than men " .
they are also on record that the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one satan the devil to mislead all mankind.. this includes all governments ,religious leaders ,economic, and social systems ,they have even stated that the united nations was a counterfeit kingdom in opposition to the kingdom of god for the benefit of mankind.. so what do we see today ?
true , we have a pandemic with this covid-19 virus that is wreaking havoc in the worlds health systems causing death to many people on a scale not seen since the spanish flu pandemic a century ago.. now i`m just speaking from a jehovah`s witness mindset here,to put there money where their mouth is.

If they really were " God's Spirit directed Organisation " surely Jehoober would have done as they claimed he does, and prepared them for this ?
They had that thing about " Go bags" some time ago, no bloody use in this situation, unless there is a bit of Hand Sanitizer in there, but again, when this thing struck, the G.B were way behind, and only came out with Instructions that mirrored what the Government etc were saying. Reactive instead of Proactive as usual.
" Spirit Directed" ? $$$ directed more like.

Remember the Revelation book?
by wozza ini recall when it was released ,that's when i was a drone, how excited i felt at the prospect of reading it and formulating ways to sell it at the homes in my area.. i thought, finally a book to explain the last book in the bible and indeed one that the churches seemed to want to leave alone!.
i sold quite a few probably because of my enthusiasm and can still remember clearly the first day when i went knocking on doors with it ,and it's been decades since.. but over time it lost it's shine and my mind started to question the explanations in it due to the scene of other things being changed in the jw beliefs.. do you remember they flogged that book so many times in the book studies even when it was found to have "newer light " eclipsing it!.
who else remembers the printed pages with the official corrections to insert into the book ,so many that the book collapsed to be of no relevance anymore really.....what an embarrassment!.

LMSA, it fascinated me once to have a look at what actually happened at the Conventions they claimed were the fulfilment of a great Bible prophecy.
One I looked at, which had obviously been chosen because it was roughly the required number of days before another such Convention, which did have a Proclamation if memory serves, but the first one, NOTHING ! There was a reference to it later in a Magazine, that claimed something about it, like a Talk that was given there being significant, but that was on the wrong day ! if you counted the 1235 or 1260 days or whatever it was, they did not compute.
I guess they rely upon no JW actually analysing their claims to that obsessive degree, I don't know now why I spent so much time debunking the claims back then, it is all so obviously totally contrived nonsense.

Why doesn't the wt discuss the real reason many partake?
by nowwhat? init has nothing to do about feeling chosen or ruling in heaven, but rather many feel it's a command for all christians, that by partaking you are accepting christ as their saviour!

Further to the Topic Title, the Org never discusses the real reason that many, perhaps the majority, leave. Namely, they can see the whole body of JW Org Doctrine is wrong. They do not have the courage to say something like " some disagree with the G.B's explanation of Scripture", because if they said that , even the thickest JW might think " Why don't you soundly refute them, and prove your Doctrine is the Truth then ?"

Active JW's - Do you see a CONTRADICTION here?
by The Fall Guy inthe bible says this - acts 17:11 “...for they [the beroeans] accepted the word with the greatest eagerness of mind, carefully examining the scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.”.
km 9/07 p. 3 question box - does “the faithful and discreet slave” endorse independent groups of witnesses who meet together to engage in scriptural research...?.
and yet, in various parts of the world, a few associates of our organization have formed groups to do independent research on bible-related subjects... some have pursued an independent group study...so as to analyze the accuracy* of the new world translation... for those who wish to do extra bible study and research, we recommend that they explore insight on the scriptures, “all scripture is inspired of god and beneficial,” and our other publications...” .

"In defence of the Watchtower, the real problem and contradictions lie on the bible itself. Religion compounds the bullshit found in the bible."
Just using the Bible, reading it without WT Org specs on, anyone can easily see that the JW interpretation is wrong.
It was that K.M Q Box that began my awakening properly, I loudly said in the K.Hall " Nobody does my thinking for ME !" . My wife told me to be quiet, I refused, and repeated what I had said. A few months later, I left for good. At that time I was still a Bible believer, but could see the JW Org was WRONG through and through, and the fact that they had to use Mind Control proved it to me.

I think this particular Revelation book woke a lot of people up. I know that when it very first came out I loudly proclaimed by utter disbelief in the "fulfillments" that were centred on Rutherford and gang.
I am surprised now, though times were different, that I was not censured by the Elders, I actually laughed at those bits, all the Elders did was smile as though they too couldn't quite swallow it.
I guess that was the start of my slow waking process, what a shame it wasn't immediate for me ! I remained in until we were going through that bloody rubbish for the Third ! time.
