  Do you think “Eventually” the Whole World will become Socialist?

  when i say; “socialist” i don’t mean everyone is equal.

  instead i am referring to “leaders” being rich and powerful, whereas the ordinary citizen being poor, and powerless.. i was surprise that the majority of the world is run by socialist government.

  the last few countries that are not socialist are the united states and parts of europe.

  it was a time bursting with religious ingenuity fueled by desperation and disappointment.

  through extensive exegesis many had formulated detailed predictions of what a jewish messiah would be like and do to demonstrate his credentials.

  You make a good point that the idea of a Messiah is very late, and comes long after the completion of the O.T, and that all "Messianic expectations" and examples of "Messianic Prophecy" are read INTO the Text. I cannot remember the exact point that such ideas began to get traction, but not much before 300 BCE ?

  Therefore all the Messianic stuff in the N.T is based upon intertestamental Rabbinic speculations and formation of new doctrines. JW Org would never acknowledge the truth of this, along with most Christians !

  The practice of Eisegesis is a bad one, reading in to the text that which is not there. But in the case of our Jewish friends their development of a messiah idea probably came from their practice of midrash, adapting Scripture to tell a story and teach a lesson for the time in which they lived, so, not as naughty as the " interpretation" JW's do !

  The Jews really needed badly a leader to free them under Antiochus 1V Epiphanes, hence the book of "Daniel" being written then, about 164 BCE, and Judas Maccabeus popping up as a Messiah to do the job, like a " Hammer" !

  So What Religion do You Claim to be when Entering Hospital?

  i've had a few medical procedures.

  once, i had a massive loss of blood and needed 6 units of blood to replace the loss.

  however, i'm curious as to what ex's state to be their religion when filling out the required paperwork when being admitted into a hospital.

  " I think it was Margaret Thatcher that said..in as many words..."the problem with socialism is..sooner or later you run out of other peoples money ". That is actually an excellent definition of capitalism. LOL

  Democratic Socialism in various forms works well in a number of Countries, often the Government is a Coalition, so not fully Democratic Socialist. But if the U.S were to consider such a Government, or the U.K, or anywhere, to achieve it would mean a system of Proportional Representation, Single Transferable Vote perhaps, but there are other systems.

  Why consider Democratic Socialism ? just look at Portugal, a very poor Country of the E.U. but as soon as they got rid of their Right Wing Austerity wielding Government things have improved immensely, many who had left the Country in disgust at Capitalism unfettered extracting money for the 1%, but investing little in the Country, have started to return. Things are looking up there, just with a change to a weak Democratic Socialism.

  For the US and the U.K to achieve a Government " For The Many, Not The Few", which is what D.S is, both Countries would need a new, real, Green Democratic Socialist Party to emerge, and for P.R to be brought in. In the U.S the Republicans and Democrats must go, in the U.K, the Conservatives and the Labour Party must go.

  "extremism" -- What *specifically* did Russia ban Jehovah's Witnesses for?

  russia's reason for banning jehovah's witnesses is said to be due to extremism.

  but what exactly does that mean, or refer to?

  specifically, what practice (or practices) of jehovah's witnesses does russia consider to be extreme?

  I looked up the specific Russian Law they were prosecuted under, and how it defined an Extremist Organisation. The JW Org TICKED EVERY BOX !

  Without looking at it again, I cannot remember exactly what the criteria were, but I do recall the JW's fulfilled all of them. With our specialist knowledge of the JW Org we would say that the Law was being applied to them when in reality it need not be, but if that is felt to be the case by JW Org, not just "we should be exempt from Caesars Law", which will never wash, but if they feel the Law is wrongly applied, they must campaign for the Law to be more tightly written. I am sure the Law was brought in to catch Terrorist Orgs, and under pressure from the Russian Orthodox Church is being applied to JW's, but the ball is in the JW's Court. ( < nice pun !).

  whilst i have never quite understood whether petra and atlantis are one or multiple entities i recognise the value of their work and web of contacts.

  i think it is fair to say that no-one has consistently contributed more solid gold intelligence to this site.

  no one has reliably passed on more bomb shells and solid news as well as day to day minutiae.

  Many an XJW thinks they are so very clever because they have woken up and left. They then do not work on their Education and their Personality, they often are more openly a big headed arsehole than when they were a JW. Mr O'Donnell seems to have fallen in to that category.

  Atlantis and Petra, please be assured that a huge number of us appreciate all you have done, and hope continue to do, it is important and valuable work you both do.

  They excuse themselves by saying from one side of their mouth that they are not inspired, but from the other side of their mouth that they are Spirit directed and gods channel etc etc

  The principle used by the Beroeans, Test everything is a wonderful one though, if only JW's did it ! Fact Checked everything on reliable Fact checking Sites . JW Facts.com is reliable, thoroughly.

  What useful piece of literature have the JW produced?

  seeing on another post here about former jws throwing away literature.

  i am curious as to the various opinions on there value.. for me i have been inactive for 3 years almost 4. i still have alot of books and of course all their bibles ever produced (except a few from the 1800s.).

  in my opinion i think there are four books the jws produced that are useful:.

  Thanks Petra ! I think I may have the 1990 edition, I will check when I can get to my old JW library, which is small, but my wife has made inaccessible while she "tidies up", I can take it they have not updated or replaced this book then, in which case they should be ashamed !

  If someone could kindly confirm my assumptions, I may do a Thread on all that books faults, and lies etc !

  I also assume it is not used at all in meetings as assigned material then ?

  RIP Diego Armando Maradona (1960-2020)

  diego maradona apparently died yesterday, 11-25-2020, from a heart attack aged 60.. on the football pitch he was a genius, a footballer of outrageous talent.

  btw i'm english, and like many of my compatriots, i remember how disgraceful his cheating was in the quarter finals of the 1986 world cup against england.

  he clearly deliberately punched the football into the net, and that goal should not have been allowed.

  I take nothing away from the total brilliance of Maradona, but that second goal was aided by some piss poor defending !
