Have I Drifted Too Far?

i was shocked, really shocked.

what i am doing now is so acceptable to the friends around me.. my friends are all doing it.

it is so normal in the society,.

" if he has read my post properly " that is a problem with a lot of idiots on-line, they half read something, and then get typing and vent their spleen over something you did NOT say, or do, it is their laziness to blame.

Do not berate yourself for your fling with the young lady, these things happen at that age. You were a boy, not an Adult. O.K , at that age we still know it is very ill-advised to have sex, but in the heat of the moment, it happens.

I advise you to thoroughly examine the teachings and practices of the J.W's, and then any guilt will leave you, they do not have, or teach, Truth.

I did that, and successfully expunged my JW personality, and thoughts, and fears, and now I am 100% "worldly", it is as though that young man I was as a J.W was someone else !

Which is true, as you found, when we are "in" to any degree, we cannot be who we really are.

I am now the Real Me, and a Happy Humanist Atheist.

All the very best for a bright, fulfilling future, free of any Evil J.W influence !

The New Busy Work

that avenue is drying up.

and policy is changing.. the wt needs new busy work to keep the sheep engaged without thinking.. the wt fancies itself as an up and coming movie studio.

The Org. DOES have to come up with a new "Busy Work" though doesn't it ? for the same reasons as the earlier iterations of "busy works", i/e to stop the "faithful" from having time to think, and then, Heaven Forfend ! Research.

If you read the Articles WC I think his murderer was a relative, I may have gleaned that from a news Report on the TV though.

But apparently neighbours heard raised voices, so I guess it was an argument, not necessarily just one the "went wrong", the guy stabbed Derek many times. sounds pre-meditated to me, but we shall have to wait for the Court Case.

Conversation with old friend

i recently had a conversation with an old acquaintance from the congregation i used to attend.

we talked about the recent changes in the 2023 annual meeting.

i especially pointed out the one about getting rid of hourly reporting on monthly time slips.

I was similar to you in not swallowing the B.S. It was all supposed to be over in 1975, I was 25 at the time. The actual month they pinpointed was Oct. '75.

In August '75 I started my Private Pension, to supplement what I knew would be a paltry Sate Pension when I reached age 65. Of course I got criticism for my lack of faith , but this was AFTER the '75 stuff had failed !!

One guy said to me "But you will pay all that money in, and never collect your Pension, Armageddon must be very near now", so I replied "Well fine, if Armageddon comes, I won't need the money will I ? ".

I wonder if he ever did anything about his old age ? If I hadn't, my wife and I would be in dire straits now. I have been collecting my private Pension for a decade now.

Waiting On Jehovah First Mentioned?

yes, waiting on jehovah for him to handle a problem/ doctrine etc.. when did the jw's first start saying that?

they've been saying it as long as i can remember.. what scriptures do they trot out to back that teaching up?

That expression goes back a long way I guess, I think probably used by the Org. itself in a WT Mag ??

That always sounded weird to my English ear, I had a mental picture of me carrying a tray with a Drink on to Jehovah ! With me in a Waiter's Uniform ! But I have heard many English J.W's come out with that one !

I am sure it was started as a Mind Control phrase, for all those who were saying, to quote the Buybull : "But where is this promised presence of his ?".

I think we need take no notice of what is a mere opinion, from someone whom is not an accredited Scholar of O.T texts , with qualifications from a real University and well respected in that Field of Study.

left 4 years ago and have heard rumours of many new ones.

Many of those DO's and C.O's and their wives spent most of their lives in working for the Org. When they reached retirement, the Org. left them entirely to the "tender mercies" of the Congregation they ended up in.

I don't know if that has improved over the last decade or so ?

I expect a good number that I knew in my decades in have died, and a number more are not far off. A huge number of sad , wasted lives we are mentioning on this Thread.

Thank you both for your contributions to this Site, PP has for many years made excellent Thread subjects, adding to my knowledge and sending me on quests for more !

P.S, welcome (belatedly) to this rather unique place, and you as well have kindly added to my knowledge and given me impetus to research further, thanks. Long may you both grace these Pages !

By writing for us a correct understanding of Scripture, based upon real, honest, Exegesis and Hermeneutics you expose the paucity of knowledge that the JW Org. writers have, how wrong ( and in my view, Infantile) their approach to understanding the Scriptures is. This is all a tremendous help to those leaving the Org. Thanks again.
