When JW.org drops 607BCE...
by Nathan Natas inprobably everyone else thought of this long ago, but i, being an "independent thunker" thunk of it just a coupla weeks ago.. we all know that since the year zero (on the fredfranzian calendar) the wtb&ts has defied archaeology and insisted that jerusalem was destroyed in 607 bce, even though the physical evidence shows that 587 bce is a more likely date.
in fact, the book "the gentile times reconsidered: have jehovah's witnesses been wrong all along about 607 bce?
" by carl olof jonsson and rud persson made this conversation public.. it is a difference of 20 years.

" It's almost like Orwell wrote a prophecy about the org."
As I said the Org. is a Totalitarian Regime, and Orwell was writing about how quickly that comes about. And the methods used to establish that Regime.
Another parallel perhaps, if a little subtle maybe, is at the end of "Animal Farm" the Pigs could not be Distinguished from the former enemy , the Men.
As tho org. goes mainstream , surely that will become true ? what they formerly called the enemy, "False religion", will be indistinguishable from them.

Prediction: no more changes for a long while
by slimboyfat ini’ve noticed a pattern where things don’t go the way i expect them to go and/or whenever i realise there is a trend and, i mentally adjust for the idea that the trend will continue, the trend stops in its tracks.
so on that basis, and given many people, including myself, and active jws, have been asking ‘what changes will the governing body make next?’ perhaps the (disappointing) answer is: ‘nothing much for a while to come’.
maybe they’ve made the changes they want for now, and will wait a while and see how it’s received.

" in fact they're clientele base are dropping like flies." True ! which is why I think they will not delay in going more Mainstream for very long. They have a Cash Flow Problem, only by retaining as many R&F JW's in the rich Countries can they begin to solve the problem of $$$ in some measure.
The odd Convert may be possible too, they are certainly hoping so, hence all the pushing of "Bible" Studies, which are really Indoctrination and Mind Control Sessions.
Follow the Money always, to understand their every move.

Not just Archaeology, but a study of the Babylonian Astronomical Tablets establish without doubt that 587 BCE, (or possibly 586 but that is doubtful) IS the date that King Neb. destroyed Jerusalem.
The Stars do not lie ! Confirmed by NASA too.
2034 is vey close, they may give themselves more time by dropping the laughable, and verging on the insane, Eisegetical interpretation of " Daniel " altogether, and just concentrating on "We must be well in to the End Times", "because of the Signs of The Times", again a mad, and ignorant, interpretation of Scripture, but much beloved by Evangelical Christians and others.
The Albatross around their neck of 1914 will be dropped....eventually.
The more pressing thing in their effort to become a bit more mainstream is the Blood Doctrine, they may put that first on their To Do List.

Yes, the Booze could be used against Tony, hypocritically probably.
But whether he did come up with the idea for the "New Windmill" of changes we have seen we will never know I expect.
I think if we keep looking more parallels will occur to us, Comrade Enuffsky !

I read the Book many decades ago, when I was an active J.W, of course then I never drew any parallels with the org. I still have a Copy on my Bookshelves...... somewhere, the house is full of Books !
I read it then for what it was, a satire against the rise of Stalin, and how he changed and ruined the Revolution and established a Totalitarian State.
I can see an immediate parallel with the Rise of Rutherford, who became the Napoleon of Bethel, and changed the Doctrines and Language etc. exactly as was done in the Book. By doing so he changed the thinking of his followers.
He established an "All Pigs are equal, but some are more equal than others" idea with his two "Classes" of J.W's, only the "more equal" would go to Heaven.
I guess there are possibly parallels with the recent goings on at J.W H.Q ?
I wonder if Tony Morris was a "Snowball" and wanted a more pleasant Org. and some "Napoleon" in the G.B has got rid of him, smeared his name, and taken all the credit for the idea himself ?
Maybe that is bit fanciful, but it is not a preposterous idea at all, it kinda fits the recent events.
I expect others will maybe draw more parallels, but well spotted enoughisenough ! "Animal Farm" really does exactly match the Totalitarian Regime that is J.W org !

Former Jehovah's Witness youth lifts the veil on JW mental child abuse. NOT on JW.org.
by Balaamsass2 ini have personally seen witness families kick 15-year-old jw kids out of the home and into the street in california.
interesting read in daily mail.
former jehovah's witness lifts the lid on the brutal isolation he faced as a child being cut off from the real world - revealing how children are regularly shunned by their own families and thrown out of their homes if they 'stop believing'.

Thanks for Posting BA, the more this sort of story gets out the better, maybe it will even reach the eyes of a certain Court in Norway ?
I hope other News outlets in the U.K pick it up, as the Daily Heil is listed by Wiki as " not a reliable source of Information", a justified judgement of course.
But the Daily Fail is mainly read by Old Farts of my age, and as this age group will be grandparents of J.W's, it is one occasion where the Daily Shite's influence may do some good !

What exactly IS 1914 these days?
by Halcon init's no longer a year tying to the present (the old pre-1995 generation belief).
realistically, that's the only reason why it mattered.
and if it doesn't really matter what it is anymore, why would jw not do away with it?.

It, the 1914 rubbish, is still an Albatross around their necks, no doubt the only way they can deal with this is to let the details of their laughable, in fact quite mad, 1914 Doctrine fade, as they did with 1925 and 1975.
But it will still be problematic, they tried to bolster it in quite recent times, and going on about "the "End" is SO near" has no power without any way to "prove" we are living in the "End Times", which of course cannot be backed by Scripture without using Eisegesis and the blatant, quite shameless, taking of Scriptures entirely out of context.

NOT on JW.org.: Author Jodie Chapman on growing up as a Jehovah’s Witness
by Balaamsass2 indoes anything sound familiar?
‘fiction opened my eyes’: author jodie chapman on growing up as a jehovah’s witness.

Jodie is an exceptional and very talented Writer, but one the World would have lost had she remained in the Cult.
I thoroughly recommend reading her first two Books, they are unforgettable and very moving, her first taught me about the intensity and nature of Love ,something I knew and have experienced of course, but her Book made me have a deeper understanding.
Her second makes the characters unforgettable, and likeable, Of course we as XJW's will be familiar with all the travails her characters go through, and the accompanying emotions, but one Reviewer at least seems to think everything she writes is imagined, rather than from her life experience. Which just shows what a weird Cult the J.W org. is!
Her third book is to be published soon.

Norway
by St George of England inso the wt society is going to contest the recent norway ruling.. jehovah’s witnesses to appeal unconstitutional ruling in norway (jw.org).
their true colours are shown in the statement: "the decision to deregister jehovah’s witnesses denies us the financial aid and other benefits that the government provides to over 700 registered religious communities in the country.
additional consequences include losing the right to appoint and authorize ministers of jehovah’s witnesses as officiants for weddings.".

Well, I hope they deservedly FAIL ! a mere cosmetic change does not comply with Human Rights.
