I wonder if the Revelation book is responsible, more than any other single piece of WT literature in modern times, for the highest number of people to suddenly sit up and cry "Bulls**T !" ?

Things in the past that show you that your doubts started earlier than you thought
by sabastious ini was just talking to my wife this morning about underlining or highlighting the wt paragraphs.. when i was 13 years old i would fight with my dad because i refused to highlight the answers.. the reason was because i wanted my comment to be genuine.
i felt that highlighting the "answer" made me lean on just using that as a crutch and not truly putting it in my own words.. i still hold that argument now, and i am 26. the only reason you would ever have to highlight something in a study book would be if you needed to remember it, maybe it is fairly complicated or subtle information that could be easily forgotten.. so many times in the wt the "question" has the same phrase that's in the paragraph!
it's literally like playing connect the dots.. so what i would do is not highlight during the family study.

THANK YOU Steven Unthank
by cedars inohiocowboy has just posted this information on the two other threads dealing with the sudden collapse of the unthank cases.. i don't know steven unthank, but i just want to thank him from the bottom of my heart for having the courage against overwhelming odds to try and bring the watch tower society to justice over their deplorable neglect when it comes to protecting children from abuse and molestation.. steven is a man of justice and integrity who i deeply admire.
his actions will never be forgotten, and i only hope he can find it within himself to continue his work in whatever avenue may become available in the future.. they have won this battle, but they can never win the war.. .

May I add my thanks to Steven for his efforts, he did a splendid job, tenaciously sticking to the case and seeing it through as far as he possibly could.
I am sure he has the admiration of thousands around the world for what he has achieved.
It is my hope we can build on his hard work and maybe give this matter more impetus, I await more info before jumping any guns, but I feel we have a short window of time if this really is the end of the road legally, to get the media on board.
Once again, THANK YOU, STEVEN UNTHANK.

The great unanswered question - WHO chose the Governing Body to serve as representatives?
by cedars inwho is the governing body?.
put simply, the governing body purports to be a small group of anointed men (currently numbering 7) who represent a much larger group (numbering the thousands) of anointed individuals living on earth today.
in nearly every reference to their position of oversight over the worldwide brotherhood, the governing body refer to themselves as being representatives.... .

I concur Tornapart, it is a splendidly put question, it more than likely will not have an immediate effect on a JW, it is amazing the capacity we had, and they have, to "put things on the back burner", helped along by the WT false propaganda that it is a good idea to "wait on Jehovah".
(Don't try that, you will still be waiting when the DFS sale really has finished !)
Eventually though, unanswered questions like that mount up and combine with the person's magic bullet and Ping! an epiphany, real lighht, that the WT is not what it says it is.
I remember asking my father, a JW for all his adult life, if "the Holy Spirit played tricks on the brothers" telling them incorrect stuff for a while, I forget his answer, it was not a good one, for the thought still troubled me until my epiphany.
Both the thread title question on this thread, and the "Makeweight scenario" question, cannot be satisfactorily answered by JW's. so getting them to think about them can only help them on their way to seeing the truth.

Talking Points for when Witnesses Come to your Door
by truth_b_known ina few weeks back i came home from work and found the latest copies of the watchtower (armageddon fearmongering) and awake!
(social media site nonsense) lying on the counter.
it was obvious witnesses had stopped by the house.

Good questions Mr Monroe, if you happen to be talking to a Witness who will not just run off screaming "Apostate !"
I think another thing I may try, in an effort to get them to examine their religion, would be to say "I know a lovely little church where only the pure gospel from the bbile is taught, why don't you go and give that try ?"
I know the replies I will get, "Does that church teach the Trinity , Immortal soul etc ?" , but from this point I can then insist they examine their religion, how can they possibly judge between the church I mention and their own if they do not ?

Eastern Religious Practices......Work!
by metatron inhttp://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2103095/once-dismissed-pretentious-brain-scans-prove-eastern-philosophies-effective-treating-mental-illness.html.
and that ain't all.
some brain scans suggest that buddhist monks are objectively the happiest people on earth, not jehovah's witnesses.. metatron.

What do they see when they scan a JW's brain I wonder ? a hugely enlarged zone called the Cognitive Dissonance Zone ?

the Ireland branch--> issues over the years
by WildeLover inhi all.
the irish branch has had lots of drama over the years from john may in the 1980s to the recent removal of practically all the branch committee in the mid noughties to its being closed down quite recently.. i heard on the grapevine that two of the branch committee had actually come to physical blows and there was blood on the carpet.. also many many witnesses spoke of the totalitarian environment there.. does anyone have anything further to corroborate or add to this?.

"Don't mention the War!" good old Cleese in Faulty Towers.
I agree with your assesment of the feeling during WW2 in Ireland, which I can understand. Along with the rest of the world, they did not at the time know the full horror of the Nazi machine.
I agree too, that it will be good when historic wrongs are not affecting people's judgements in the present, after all , how far do you go back ?
"The members of your ancestral Neanderthal tribe clobbered mine ?"
There is a misuse of history within poltics and nationalism very often, the most glaring example being the State of Israel, whose very existence is founded on very suspect history and scant regard for justice.

BBC Chilling Documentary Of Jehovah's Witnesses Child Molestations/Sex Abuse
by mind blown inbbc chilling documentary of the wts and child sexual abuse.....called "suffer the little children" really gave me an upset stomach to see this.... towards the end of part three i noticed ( i think it's theodore jaracz) cocky body language as he walks down the stairs from the stage of a convention and when he's cornered to speak by an interviewer, he sounds like such a loser...doesn't even have a hint of holy spirit.... part one:.

We were at an Assembly that weekend,(or it may have been the one after the screening, the old memory aint so good) the D.O did a good hatchet job, pointing out that a number of ex-JW's were involved in the programme, which put up the anti-apostate protection screen for the Dubs who he spoke to.
I watched it, with WT goggles on, and felt it was wrong to "doorstep" a GB member who was not prepared for an interview.
I have viewed it since, and of course it seems so different to me now.

jwfacts.com
by allyouneedislove ini had a few comments to make regarding paul grundy's jwfact.com website.
these comments are in no way meant to defend jws, but only to point out illogical statements.
i have actually found his website to be quite informative.. .

I wish to second Cedars vote of confidence, I think at present Paul's site is the best resource on the net for anyone, JW or not, wishing to gain knowledge about the WT.
Well done Paul ! keep up the good work, you are saving lives.

I wonder if it is not high time they did a follow up programme to show that nothing has changed ?
