  Was I Truly Baptized?

  i have been running this through my head now and again for decades.

  was i truly baptized as a jw?.

  i ask because although i was dunked at a da in el paso, tx in 1981, i never prayerfully dedicated myself to anyone, including jah.

  TOTH, I totally empathise with the feeling weird bit, it felt that way all the time I was in, I rationalised it by saying to myself "well it would be weird in relation to the rest of the world that does not know jah".

  As to your baptism I don't think it had any real meaning, so it is up to you in the future what you do about that, no hurry though.

  As to the JW's, especially Elders and the WT itself, they will view your baptism as totally valid as you accepted "priviledges" . They do not care if you were a very young person at the time of baptism, with no concept of what you were doing, and really didn't mean what you said, you validated it later in their eyes.

  So any fade will have to be conducted in a most circumspect manner, unless at some stage you decide you do not give a flying f**k and speak out and get DF'd.

  Iran vs Israel and the USA = WW III (Should we be worried?)

  this particular bowl of soup has been bubbling for some time now, with various posturing and toing and froing.

  looking at the media and the subsequent comments from israel regarding iran, it looks clear that something is going to happen soon, very soon..... with iran having the ears of both china and russia, israel having the us and of course we (uk) as the states poodle on the other side.

  i wonder if this could be the beginning of the end?.

  I find the prospect of a further armed engagement worrying, people will die, quite often in modern warfare it is non-combatants who die in large numbers, often close to or even more than the official military.

  The question is this, do we leave it until they actually have the weapons and then risk them using them, with even more lives lost, or do we act now ?

  It is not an easy call, if we act now lives will definately be lost, if we wait there is big potential danger, but not actually quantifiable right now.

  Knowing the mentality of the rulers of Iran, and the rulers of Israel, as the intelligence services do, I would say that they may well advise acting sooner rather than later.

  Of course whatever happens end-time enthusiasts will shout about it. The reality is that the whole idea of a time of the end is based on...............wait for it...................................... Nothing !

  Did the Global Flood of the Bible really happen? Please give evidence

  Ray Franz wrote an article on the flood, I must revisit it, but if I remember he felt a Global flood to be not tenable, but felt that the text did not demand it.

  That theory still leaves many other problems though.

  The Catholic More Righteous Than Almost Any Witness

  last night on "60 minutes",..... they featured the catholic archbishop of dublin.

  he exposed his own church, his own "organization".

  he exposed documents and testimony about how his church covered up child molesting priests throughout ireland.. he went to a school, to remind himself of what an 8 year old boy looked like - because he was aware of one nasty case involving a boy of that age.. when he was talking, he paused..... because he held back tears.. if you are still a "loyal" witness, i have two things to tell you.

  Amen.

  A man of principle, and the tears show compassion too. I wonder if he will have the strength to leave the church, I doubt it, he will put it down to the evil of imperfect men, and not ask "Where was god when the little ones were being buggered ?" Watching ? That makes Him and Jesus filthy perverted voyeurs then.

  i'm 53 years old and not too savvy with things cyberspace.

  how did my stong-willed, outspoken mother, who, since childhood reckoned jws were just a lot of old women running around town with nothing better to do than annoy everyone, become one of them?

  Thanks Bangalore, I am sure that his blog will be joyfully read by the JW's and will assure them that they are open minded enough to consider the views of opposers by the use of his blog as a safe filter.

  Of course none of them, or the blogger himself, has the true conviction that their beliefs are rock solid, if they did they would be willing to come here and debate them. He would not get away, on here, with the tactic he uses on his blog, a form of Ad Hominem attack, he imputes bad motive to the poster rather than addressing the views expressed.

  Because someone does not swallow the JW nonsense anymore it is because "they do not want to put the effort in to being a Witness anymore", of course the reason could never be a problem with WT doctrine, it has to be something else, so the person,although totally unknown by him, is judged by him to be workshy.

  Or he says the person "thinks what they want to think" regardless of what his pearls of wisdom say on his blog, as though that is indicative of a closed mind rather than one which in reality sees the paucity of his arguments.

  Come on blogger, man up and debate with us on here !

  i got into a discussion with a fellow gamer on an online game server the other night and someone told him that he held a job at mcdonald's shoveling manure onto the griddles.

  we had a big laugh but then i said not to be so insulting.

  that anyone working for mcdonald's is the same as any jehovah's witness.

  Amazing what a bad PR job the JW's have done for themselves, a friend of mine works in a large open plan office, and she says whenever the JW's come up in conversation not one person has a good word to say about them !

  I knew they generated a fair amount of animosity, but not one good word ? Well, I suppose it is difficult even if you are a JW to think of something positive to say that actually rings true.

  convincing someone to live

  i was wondering if you could help me out.. tomorrow, i will be visiting a jw and i learned that she has anemia and has been given 4 months to live.

  i really care for this person who i've only seen about 3 times.

  on every visit i've made, she seems to be drunk (probably because of all the stress) and she has mentioned a couple of times that she "wants to die for god".

  How many of these ones that are supposed to be "of the anointed" in the past were supporters of the trinity and immortal soul doctrines ?

  (maybe not Grew and Storrs, but the rest)

  Surely that would mark them as the worst kind of Apostate ?
