  Thanks HTBWC for telling us of your method, and your new findings. I am always pleased to change my mind when proof emerges that an idea I held was wrong, though it is a shock sometimes !

  I have had many such shocks since leaving the JW org well over a decade ago, so I am getting used to it. The fact that you are so willing to rewrite gives me confidence your book will be as accurate as possible, but things move with such speed, even in the seemingly dusty and arcane world of Biblical studies, that your book may need an addendum or two !.

  Good luck with your work, I take it that like me you find Scholars that are more secular or Atheistic in their outlook to be far more credible than the Scholarly "believers" ?

  It seems that many of these reliable Scholars do put the composition of the O.T as very late compared to earlier thinking, the other question is, who were these men that composed the O.T. in terms of Ethnicity, and Education and Religious influence ?

  I know you are still attending, so the phrases and words are drummed in to you, but try not to actually use them on here. "The truth" FFS.

  Strange to think that the JW who was trying to indoctrinate Sutcliffe would have got some Kudos from other JW's for going in to the prison to preach to him, and yet, obviously not a very good job was made of it !

  It is possible of course that the Reporter misunderstood JW Doctrine.

  It strikes me that the Org is on a winner with the "Civil Unrest" warning, if it happens, and there is bound to be some , knowing Trump supporters, the Org seems prescient , and "Jehovah's Spirit guided them " , if, by luck, nothing much happens, then they were " being so loving, making sure we stayed safe, if something had happened".

  The root cause of the Government having lost control of the Virus is their Test and Trace Corruption Scandal. With proper Test and PROPER Tracing and then Isolating put in place, infection is controlled.

  They are rolling out in Liverpool to start with, a mass testing programme, we will see how that goes. And see if proper follow up to Tests is done. I have my doubts, but maybe, just maybe.

  We have a Government that has never, throughout this, really followed " the Science", and as recently, have blatantly ignored the very best Scientific advice. The irony is, that in this ignoring, motivated by trying to keep the Economy going, it is now going to be stalled again by a half-arsed measure, with again, advice that this is not a way forward ,being ignored.

  I can see us being not just the worst affected Nation in Europe, but the very last to come out of this. In a very few weeks, the Brexit fiasco will begin. What a total mess this Government has made of what when they took over was the 5th richest Nation, in a years time we will be lucky to be around 15th.

  They really are just "Full of lies", I lived through all that , the lead up to 1975, the fallout, the non-excuses, blaming the R&F , the half-arsed "apology" in 1981 if memory serves.

I know so many JW's whose future was shot to pieces by their "predictions", one guy would be a Multi-Millionaire today but for them, to give him his due, he is sanguine about it, nice guy.   Well, half a lockdown, the clowns we have in Government are going to leave Schools etc open, where most spreading of Covid19 takes place, and then the little kiddies take it home, to parents and grandparents.

  i did a video on this subject once but feel this is a noteworthy topic.

  to be honest the old nwt has come under sonsiderable attack from fundie morons attacking it's nt which was translated with a few revisals in 1950.the truth is john 1:1 and 8:58 and other texts, though despite being odd, are within the translation rules as are the inclusion of the word {other} since this was stated in the forward as an interpolation.

  jehovah in the nt is odd but certianly lacking as other translations have added more yhwh.. so the ot?

  My thinking exactly HTBWC ! and maybe even Jesus, if we only knew what he really taught, was promoting this view of the Supreme Being, his god, It would certainly explain the antipathy of the religious leaders of his day ! it would really piss them off !

  Certainly Gnostic thought does not seem to be something that did NOT affect the writer of the Gospel of John, and maybe the incipient, or nascent, Gnosticism we see is because it was far from mainstream in his time. The influence of Gnostic thought on the genuine Letters of Paul I shall have to have a look at, but are there perhaps more such thoughts in the Pseudepigraphic Letters ?

  the court of justice of the european union (cjeu) yesterday delivered the judgment (press release) on a request of the supreme court of latvia on whether domestic authorities are obliged to reimburse costs of cross-border medical treatment when the patient's decision to perform it in another european country was based on religious, not medical, grounds.

  the opinion of advocate general (summarized here) is helpful in understanding the case.. the son of the applicant in the main proceedings had to have open heart surgery.

  that operation was available in the latter’s member state of affiliation, latvia, but could not be carried out without a blood transfusion.

  Thanks for the info Corney. of course, this sort of thing is unnecessary, if only the G.B. would have some New Light on Blood Transfusions.

  The JW Doctrine on Blood is thoroughly discredited anyway, the "Scriptural" argument having been demolished by people who actually know how to read and understand the Bible. The G.B. know this, hence their trying to reverse out of the harshness of their application of the Doctrine by bringing in the laughable Blood Fractions teaching.

  They could not totally do a 360 turn on the Blood nonsense, because they would face costly Litigation from families who had lost loved ones unnecessarily. So people still have to die, for something the G.B. could change with the stroke of a pen, oh and some new Light. But as usual with the G.B. $$$$ come first, before lives.

  He was a very good actor, even in a Movie with a doubtful Script or Plot or both ! he gave it Class, and gave it his all. Jusht Shometimes the Accshent would not quite fit the character he was playing, but he was SO good you could ignore that !

  I think too that, not just a great Actor, he was a nice guy too.

  Another bit of my Past has gone.

  R.I.P Sean , the one and only James Bond for me.

  Is it because of Pride or Loyalty?

  in a recent effort to entice me back to meetings, an elder friend gave me the example of his dad.. he said that his pioneer/elder/ex-missionary dad went through the anticipation and disappointment of 1975 and yet, he kept going faithfully for decades afterwards.

  the obvious point was that, if his dad can deal with disappointment, then, surely a nobody like me could do the same in regards to the scrapping of the 1914 generation doctrine, and all the other changes.

  his 'encouragement' was to tell me that it was only me that felt like this, everyone else is fine and have no problems with the changes.

  " Are you loyal to Jehovah and his spiritually directed earthly organization ? " That is the " Loyalty" question you must not answer to Elders when you are found to be waking up !

  When I left I was convinced I could be " Loyal to Jehovah" but still detach from what I now knew was not His Organization. The second part of that question is "Leading language" , a typical mind control technique, it takes as a given that the JW org is god's org, not proven !

  If you are still in the Org and reading this, please get over whatever holds you captive within it, and free yourself ! Freedom of mind and action is just the most wonderful thing !
