I agree with the analysis of these figures on here, nothing to get overly excited about, and good reasons for poor figures, poor from the Org's perspective , not ours !

They will improve a bit on these figures, as Covid is beaten, and will no doubt put forward as a triumph the more dramatic of seeming improvements.

The fact is that the Org is moribund, it will shrink in size because of a number of factors, but I firmly believe it will be around for many decades yet. Its Business Model is a good one still, if less profitable than in the past.

It will be interesting to see the figures that come out in 2023 to get a better picture of what is really happening.

Talking to a Jehovah`s Witness .Ask the right questions .

what questions should be asked to a jehovah`s witness when confronted with them.. a jw gives his sermon.

"you" immediately ask him by what authority he has from god that you should take notice of him ,seeing their are over 40,000 different christian religions in the world who claim to represent god,.

The question posed in the opening Post is one I asked a number of JW's over the years. I had to add the word "unique" in front of the word Doctrine, or they would simply list things that other Christian groups teach, but it would be necessary for them to have at least one unique Doctrine then, that is still taught as truth today, for Jesus to choose that little band of Rutherfordites over far more suitable groups,

Of course, there is not one such Doctrine. I went through this whole argument with one Elder, and after it all he said " Well I think there is enough proof to satisfy me that Jesus chose the J.W's ( as he called them, a name that came later) in 1919". I asked what that proof was, and I won't bore you with the very weak argument he gave, but in the end I gave up.

I am sure that by asking the question of a good number over the years I have planted seeds, I hope so, but Logic, Reason, Facts and Truth do not matter to those Mind Controlled by the Cult.

So What Religion do You Claim to be when Entering Hospital?

i've had a few medical procedures.

once, i had a massive loss of blood and needed 6 units of blood to replace the loss.

however, i'm curious as to what ex's state to be their religion when filling out the required paperwork when being admitted into a hospital.

It strikes me that the JW Org is doing its usual thing of putting the $$$ before people, having calculated that merely losing Tax breaks is cheaper than paying just compensation, this has been pointed out before as the motive.

This lack of compassion and totally cold-hearted money grab may well come back to bite them badly on the Arse, they will generate far more International bad publicity by not joining the scheme, the idiots.

No wonder they never mention the word, 99% of the time Syllogism is used as a method of reasoning to come to a conclusion that is a Fallacy. And we know who are the Masters of that method, the J.W org !

1: a deductive scheme of a formal argument consisting of a major and a minor premise and a conclusion (as in "every virtue is laudable; kindness is a virtue; therefore kindness is laudable")

Anybody Here That Still Wouldn’t Take or Give Blood?

i would think that the first thing to go for ex jws is the blood ban.

I started to donate Blood as soon as I left in 2008. I also visited my Doctor and informed him I was no longer a JW and if I needed a Transfusion I would willingly accept it, he smiled and said " I bet you would !", he also made sure that on my Patient Records there was no mention of refusing a B.T. or of my being a J.W.

After checking the Records he told me that there never had been any such notes on there ! This surprised me a little, because I know we were urged by the Org to make sure such a thing was on our Record, but I obviously had never mentioned it, I also never carried a Suicide (Blood) Card in later years either.

I can understand some ex JW's being reluctant to either Donate or receive Blood, the fear of it ran deep after years of indoctrination, and all for a Doctrine thought up in the late Forties I believe, by Mad Freddy Franz.

So much Blood is on the hands of the Org, including and especially today's G.B. They could change this murderous, totally discredited Doctrine with the stroke of a pen, and call it New Light, they will not for fear of Litigation, so they allow more JW's, even children, to die, all for $$$.

When I first left the J.W Org I decided I needed to research properly, looking only for facts and evidence that would withstand any scrutiny and any attack, only "truth" of that calibre would suffice.

I started in the reverse order to the one they give in that W.T. number one was the Org, was it " the truth" ? Answer NO !

Number 2 was " The Bible, is it god's word ? " Answer NO!

Number 3 was " Is there a god ?" simple answer NO ! ( certainly all the gods man has made up, even new boy on the block Jehovah, do not exist).

The Org's 3 reasons were demolished completely by proper research that established the Truth of these matters.

A bit of advice to folks who have not done this, start with my Number 3, once you have established that no god invented by man exists, the other things do not matter, apart from perhaps getting rid of the feelings and fears, like Armageddon etc, that the Org embedded in us.

To really " use your power of reason" as the WT says , and use it properly, is to come to the same conclusions as me. If you do not wish to fully use your power of reason, do not want to think rationally, do not want to accept Truth, you remain entrapped in Delusional Belief, a sorry Mental Condition ( Illness).

The Mysterious Missing Islam.....

i've discussed this before but not in this context alone.. i remember being about 14 years old, 1994 and starting a study in the uk with a charming muslim from the congo.

he was a very pleasant middle aged guy with a big family, two wives, always the most hospitable.

at the time the watchtower had a book on many religions, a thick red book called 'mankind's search for god' so i would read and discuss the section on islam with him.. interestingly, but not surprising, many details they had were wrong about islam and he would explain how and correct me.

The Bible writers were only knowledgeable about their own time, and culture, and narrow geographic area. Their knowledge of history was faulty, as seen by the many errors they made, not just the deliberately made up stuff. They certainly had no knowledge of the future, every prediction they ever made did not come true in the terms that they wrote down, NOT ONE !!

Your point is spot on, the things that are missing from the Bible make it plain that it is written by ill educated men, even for their own time they know little that is common knowledge in nearby Cultures. And so the Bible is 90% very poor Fiction.

I had that very experience of teaching the " right thing", and yet being haughtily told that " the Org does not teach that" as though I should shut up.

I was mercifully, and much to my amusement, proved correct when the Org in one of its many U turns, published my point of view in the very next book that came out ! ( the details of this matter are boring, so won't spell them out).

The one I never got an answer to was the one where I pointed out that Jesus own words were contradictory, completely, in another area than the above, and of course the Elder just stuck to the Org's line, even showing me what a Public Talk Outline said on it, rather than the Bible ! but as I said, "You can't have it both ways ". Either one statement was right, or the other was. Of course, the Gospels contain a number of totally contradictory things, I didn't know that at the time , I was a callow youth, but still took on the Elders !
