  Was you or your family ever a local needs talk subject?

  our family was always a topic on a local needs talk.

  but it was funny when the brothers needed money they would come with their hands out.

  this is when we lived in the states.

  I doubt I ever featured in such a talk, the Elders could not work out why I had left !

  I remember one such talk a good few years back, and because I knew what it was about, and who, due to Elder gossip, I understood it. It concerned a person, never baptised, who only came along a few times, but the Eldubs found out a bit about the person's past, and present living arrangements, but of course could do nothing about it !

  After this pointless Talk, most of the Congo. went around saying, "What on Earth was all that about ? ".

  as some of you know, i'm working toward my master's degree.

  comments from those associated when the elder arrangement was introduced would help me with a research paper.. what was the reaction among adherents?

  Two Elders came to my door, a few years after I had left, the younger of the two, newly appointed, told me the Governing Body had asked them to call on me, as if THAT half-truth would impress me.

  The older of the two got on to the matter of DFing people, somehow, and I said "Well, you can't DF me, I have never been a part of the religion as it is now, you J.W's have changed all the fundamental teachings ! ". I was referring mainly to the laughable overlapping generation nonsense.

  I think if you left before that change, what I said is a good thing to say, telling them they no longer have any power over you.

  I concur with the advice not to D.A. For anyone ! when you first leave it is tempting, to get some closure, but the J.W's do not suffer if you do it, you do.

  Geographical inaccuracies you cant shake

  where your mental image of a place does not match up with where you intellectually know it actually is?

  1. great britain: i always picture it to the west of france.

  if i'm reading about the norman invasion or d-day i always see it in my head as crossing the channel east-west / west-east.

  True, a Flat Map cannot really show the true size of a Country, as that Country sits on the outer surface of a ball, but a flat map gives a quick idea of how many sq. miles a Country has, for some, and Greenland has a good few ! And importantly for some, the actual location of Countries, in relation to each other, and the Equator etc.

  I want to get a really old fashioned Globe, just to see the errors made before Satellites etc ! As to the relative sizes of say the USA, which is, 9.834 million sq.km. and Greenland is , 2.166 million sq.km. It is far easier to appreciate this on a Globe, thanks for pointing that out LUHE ! Perhaps all Geography Classrooms should have a Globe, as in my youth, we had one at home too.

  I remember a guy giving a Talk at what we called a Circuit Assembly in those days, he said "Remember, when you point the finger, there are three fingers pointing back at you !".

  im current elder in one of the congregations in london.

  what i’ve noticed is huge changes since covid .

  a lot of my ex fellow servants must be now in their seventies, what can you do?.

  no children no money no home.

  it is so sad.. so many decided not to have children as the end was right around the corner and that was decades ago.

  When I was a young fella in August 1975, I started my private Pension, thinking the State Pension here in the U.K would not be sufficient. I was right, though being a J.W, I really did not expect to draw any pension from any source.

  Remember, the End of the World, Armageddon and the New Order were all supposed to kick off in October '75.

  As a serving M.S I was criticised by some Elders, lack of faith and all that, but I said "If I do not draw a pension, then great, but if I have to, I have one".

  I realise now I did not have any faith in the words of those men who ruined so many lives with their Bullshit. Thankfully.

  Well worth a listen. Two intelligent ladies, who had similar experiences, as they both left different religions, but both religions are High Control Mind Control Cults.

  I came to the firm conviction,years ago, that most of the Writing Dept. and the Legal Dept. do NOT believe to any extent. Some not at all, it is just a cushy life and Career.

  The Writing Dept, because it has always, and still does, use Mind Control and Loaded language etc.etc. If they believed it was the Truth, they would not have to do this, they are like lying Politicians in this.

  The Legal Dept, if they believed they served a loving God, they would not spend their time trying to help in the cover up and protection of paedophiles, and making sure that the poor Victims suffer again, by limiting any rightful compensation as much as they can, to save the Org. from paying what they should.

  These two Departments, along with the G.B are Disgusting and Evil. But J.W's think it is "the truth" and god's Org.
