have you guys noticed, this year 2023 no more public edition magazines...i wonder how they are gonna spin that fact.
It always comes down to money,$$$,and covering their Corporate arses.
It is expensive to produce and ship magazines, and they do not produce donations or new members.
It is easy to change stuff on-line, in the old days they had to print special, secret Editions of embarrassing Mags. suitably Edited, to bind into the Volumes, and hope the original mags disappeared.
here are some things i never really believed the jw taught...i just didn't really examine it closely.
i shelved it, so to speak, thinking no one is perfect and they know more than me...if i ever thought about it at all.. i never believed that only jws would be spared at armageddon.
i never believed the where in james, you went to the elders to confess being spiritually sick-always thought that referred to a real illness.
I often wonder what my life would have been if I hadn't shelved things, I can remember, but not firmly date, a few times when a question that rocked the teachings occurred to me, and yet I shelved it, shoved it to the back of my mind.
The first big one was when I was at mum's for lunch in around 1981, and she was telling me about some who had left the org. she said "They do not believe in 1914!" as though that would clinch things, but I remember thinking, but not saying of course, "I'm not sure I do". Why Oh Why did I not pursue that thought ?
I could have been free from that time, instead of about 25 years later !

I do not trust the conclusions and arguments of Gertoux, he is especially at odds with a large number of Scholars, from more than one Field, in his contention that the Exodus, and surrounding events, actually took place. I seem to remember reading somewhere that he believes Eve was a real person ???

they should have done that a long time ago with 1975. it's the last of the teachings in the charles taze russell era.. i'm thinking they just will stop talking about it, and it will be out of the mind of the rank and file loyal witnesses .

this afternoon a press release from the jw has been published in major news outlets in norway concerning the withdrawal of registration etc..
They are doing their usual arrogant thing of thinking they are above the Law, and can ignore Human Rights, and thinking they will win in Court because they "have Jehovah's backing".
I sincerely hope they lose, as people's lives are at stake here, and the reverberations of a loss in Court will go throughout Europe and maybe the World.

Mad Freddy was Autistic, and that helped him to disregard the problems with his theology etc. But he was crafty, and wriggled his way around the problems, he knew he was bull-shitting on some level, but he was good at it, he would have made a better politician than Trump, not so openly corrupt and dishonest.
How they now deal with this "dead horse" they are still flogging will be fascinating to see, but their retention rate is already pathetic, their conversion rate of members of the public is equally piss-poor, they need to do SOMETHING, re-branding did nothing much for them.
the theme of the in person convention this year is "exercise patience".
looking at the convention map, they are really using their assembly halls and they are using smaller civic centers or city arena.
no more huge stadiums.. are they not expecting a great crowd?

it would have been quite understandable if those alive during the middle of the 6th century ad believed the "end was nigh.".
I remember giving a Public Talk where in my intro I read a lot of quotes from over those Centuries about being in the Time of the End, the audience nodded along, thinking they were talking about our day, I then revealed when they were from, the latest one had been from the 1700's !
I guess I then had to talk about how we knew we really were in the last days now, I cannot remember the content, but I was not awake then, so probably I gave out a load of shite.
I wonder how long they can keep flogging this dead horse of "any day now" ? It reminds me of the centuries when the Jews used to say the mantra "Next year, in Jerusalem", mind you, that came true for some in 1948 , the J.W thing never will come true !
