I wonder what JW's feel about the cart work, yes the vast majority would rather do that than knock on doors, but I wonder if the genuine ones may deep down think that it is not real witnessing, and not very productive at all for making converts.

Just read that Carl Olof Jonsson died yesterday
by slimboyfat infor newbies, who was carl olof jonsson?
he was a jw in sweden who was challenged by a householder in the 1960s, who pointed out to him that secular history books don’t agree with watchtower that jerusalem was destroyed in 607 bce, but instead place the event 20 years later.
the reason the date is important is because it is the starting date for jw chronology which leads to 1914 as the end of the gentile times, and the beginning of the last days, as jws understand it.

Sad news, a great man. Those letters, thanks Dozy for re-posting ! were a real shock to me when I first came across them shortly after I left the org. I was just at the point of writing to the org myself , about 1914, when I came across them, by which time they were 30 years old.
It shocked me that the GB/org had known 1914 was bollocks for 30 years, but were still sticking with it ! Of course, their behaviour is no surprise now.
The Org. was founded on lies, and is maintained by lies, what Irony, that they call it "the Truth" , it is the polar opposite.

What is Greg Stafford up to these days?
by slimboyfat inyou may have been wondering: what is greg stafford up to these days?
lots of interesting things, is the answer.
exposing the false trinity doctrine, of course, but keeping on top of other issues too.

The Noah Story has been shown to be an Interpolation into Genesis, and to be based on the earlier, much earlier, Epic of Gilgamesh, or a common source.
Stafford is now making an utter twat of himself.

Some thoughts on Faroese
by LoveUniHateExams ini mentioned using faroese as a basis for a pw in answer to fatfreek's op.. so, i got curious about the language and dug further on youtube, looking at a few faroese language channels*.. here's what i found out .... faroese is kinda between icelandic and nynorsk (one of the two norwegian standard languages) in many ways.
which is neat, considering the islands are geographically between iceland and norway.. the way it's written emphasises its connection to old norse, and makes the language look like icelandic.. icelandic has a letter for the voiced sound 'th', as in this.
the letter is called edh and looks like this: ð. but in faroese, it doesn't have a sound of its own.

I seem to remember a lady on You tube speaking Faroese , I remember it sounded lovely, if my old memory serves me well, it may possibly have been one of the Islands closer to Scotland ?
What should not surprise me , but always does, is how these languages are so very different from near neighbours, but of course they would be, what I think of as near is a pretty insurmountable barrier, or one that is pointless to cross, so of course they developed very differently.

The (Shunned) Woman at the Well
by Sea Breeze ini always found the account of the "woman at the well" to be particulary interesting.
this unknown shunned woman of ill-repute was specifically sought out and chosen by jesus.
why?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=el7dzonv3iy&ab_channel=michaelpapale.

" So Jesus felt that women were ( are ) not second class citizens only fit to take a back seat ."
I was always looked on favourably by the "Sisters" in the Congregation as I always championed this point of view. I was brought up by my JW parents to think this way, they were not non-thinking, main stream, grey little J.W's.

He used to be a bit rational sounding, if a bit up his own arse, but it seems he has finally lost the plot.

England v Ukraine
by BoogerMan inso nice to see thousands upon thousands of fighting-age ukrainian men managed to escape the war and reach wembley to support their national football team yesterday.
things must be improving, eh?.

" Whoever did this is a fucking animal ..." true. If confirmed, it will cement support for Ukraine, and if it gets known fairly widely in Russia, will shatter some of the public's illusions, fostered by the relentless propaganda they get.
Now we just have to wait for something to surface from a (very suspect) Russian source showing Ukrainian soldiers in an equally bad light.

Yahweh the Angel
by peacefulpete ina small thread that may be of interest to some.

My 2 Cents, it is thought that Angels, Demons and the satan etc only entered Israelite/Jewish religious thought during the Babylonian Exile, so the references would have been written after 539 BCE, and edited in to any texts used that were earlier.
So, as the new ideas were that, very new, it is perhaps no surprise that "Angel" is used that way of Yahweh , as he was a god alongside other gods for so many Centuries before the Exile, even if at the time assimilating into himself those other gods. But the returnees were only working toward monotheism, and were still monolatrous, so here in these examples you give we see examples of the slow changes in thought taking place.
I guess even in Christianity Angels are really seen as nothing so very different from that early concept, as they are seen as demi-gods, not just messengers, but powerful beings fighting battles alongside Christ.

We went to the Cinema to watch it when it first came out, I thought it was well very done, but what surprised me was the rest of the audience got really involved ! when some really silly J.W stuff was said they laughed loudly, but when the Elders did their bit and shunning was shown in action, there were distinctly heard remarks of "disgusting" from the audience !
Now this was in a posh arty Cinema in the South of England, where the audience is usually very restrained !
I would say the Director achieves a lot with this Movie !
