i have served 20 years as an elder, 5 years as an ms. was on the district committee in 2010, held various positions on the district , circuit, and rbc level.
probably been on more than 100 judicial committees and even an appeals committee.
was the coordinator in our congregation and deleted because adult child was df ( i kicked him out at the time of his wrongdoing, but that wasn't enough for thr brothers).
Welcome James, there's a number of us who are still 'in', it's a difficult place to be when you start to discover things. We have to be 'cautious as serpents and innocent as doves'. Take in as much as you can, go slowly and be careful what you say and who you say it to.

This is a biggie for me... I can't accept that this group of men has inserted itself between Christ and us. How dare they? Jesus said we should call no one our leader except him. He is the ONLY ONE who should be between us and God.
I was watching a documentary about William Tyndale recently and his bug bear was exactly the same. He refused to accept the Catholic Church/Pope as mediator and only accepted Christ as personal mediator/saviour.
now they can mingle inconspicuously with the 'other sheep' without being 'made an example of' (for better or worse)..
So now the GB become the FDS and become the leaders of the whole thing. They can tell everyone what to do/what not to do, including the anointed.
Yet Jesus said in Matt 23:10 "Neither be called 'leaders', for your Leader is one, the Christ."

Also about birthdays. JWs will only mention two, Pharoah and Herod both had someone's head chopped off. They do not mention the children of Job who celebrated their 'own' day. Whether it was a birthday or not, it was a 'special' day for each child. Job 1:4 If Job's children could celebrate their own special day why not us today?

it seems kind of crazy to go to someone's house touting your religion as truth and then not even defend your own beliefs.
why do jws stop the chat if someone just tries to calmly reason/debate with them?
i'm not talking about crazy preachers who start slamming bibles and yelling about how they need jesus or something.
When I was young before I became totally disillusioned I actually used to enjoy having a good debate. It was far more interesting than knocking on empty doors or having it shut in your face. Thing is the ones who really knew their bbles came up with lots of stuff that got me thinking. I especially remember one guy (even remember the house) who made a point of asking why we believed Jesus was Michael the archangel. I didn't know so I said I would think about what he'd said and compare it with our teachings. I went back home and did just that. I never believed it since and it was another brick taken out of the wall.

It's great to read your story Simon! Are there any updates since you posted the last episode? Did you get your citizenship? Have you had any contact with any of your JW relatives in England?
