I've noticed it too recently at our KH... some mention is always made of the F&DS and how wonderful they are... Jesus gets stuck on at the end as an afterthought. I can never say amen to a prayer like that.

I had to control my laughter...
by ILoveTTATT intoday at the meeting, during the prayer (to which i did not say "amen" to) the brother said "thank you for everything the faithful and discreet slave do for us.
we know it is because they love us...".
to which i had to really control my laughter cause i was about to burst out laughing... i just smiled, thankfully everyone else had their eyes closed and head down.... .

Did a google search for the name and came up with a teenager from Evesham who's into cooking and calls herself smoochiepuss..... of course it could be several different names and not the same person at all but just thought it was amusing.
How can anyone write stuff like that and expect to be taken seriously?

7/15 WT- Insane, Far Fetched, Narcissistic "New Light " about the FDS
by flipper ini know this article has been discussed, re-hashed upside down in past threads.
but there were at least 2 points i discovered in here that i felt were pertinent and important to bring out concerning the total control and narcissistic tendencies that these wt leaders possess on the governing body, i.e.
alleged " faithful slave " .

"I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me."... says Jesus..... John 14:6

What was Jesus real attitude toward wrongdoers? His parable of the prodigal son was quite clear. The father in the parable didn't wait to find out his son's change of heart... whether he was 'repentant' or not. He didn't wait for his religious leader to tell him whether he could talk to his son or not. The father made his own choice and rushed out to meet his son and gathered him in his arms and laid on a feast for him. The opposite was true of the elder son who wanted nothing to do with his brother. Jesus condemned that self righteous attitude.
They make Jesus say what he DIDN'T say... they put words in his mouth.

When the urge to hit back is stronger than the instruction not to
by steve2 inclearly, any jw apologist or jw friendly person who posts on this forum knows full well they are breaking their own organization's policies.
everything else is mere detail.
even before the send button is struck, the jw knows they are doing something the organization has told them not to do.

I still think they should actually be encouraged to post though. I've been watching a guy's youtube channel. It's very interesting as he started out like all JW apologists, refuting all the arguements thrown at them by ex JWs. His arguements came across as though he knew what he was talking about. He had a good handle on the bible. After a couple of years of this he suddenly had an epiphany and in his next video he's outside the KH with his letter of resignation. He becomes a full blown apostate now argueing on the other side of the fence.

Someone should only ever get baptised if it's what they really want! (In any religion). If it's not what you want then DON'T do it! Don't allow yourself to be coerced or emotionally blackmailed into something this serious, something you don't want to do. The repercussions will be far reaching. If you leave without being baptised then your parents will still feel they are able to have a relationship with you. If you leave after baptism then they will feel they have to cut you off. Please think seriously about this.

Is Richard Dawkins an ostentatious acrimonious supercilious pusillanimous calumnious censorious vituperative querulous embittered obsessive and bombastic bully?
by slimboyfat inrichard dawkins closes down his free-thinking/free-thought site (www.richarddawkins.net) for 30 days to reconfigure it 'because too many morons were contributing drivel' (he doesn't put it quite like that!
) he is then surprised because those self-same contributors call him everything under the sun (i won't repeat the names flung at him on our ultra -refined boards).
he now wants the site more or less 'peer-reviewed' (by analogy with papers to learned/scientific journals having to be vetted by vips).

I've watched some of his videos and whether he's right or wrong in what he believes he came across to me as being condescending, patronising and supercilious... put me right off. Just my 2 pennyworth.

SloppyJoe, I do pretty much the same as you although my FS is Rvs that have had the mags for years and I just pass the time of day knowing they'll never progress to anything else. At the same time no one else will bother them as they will say I call on them. I don't do first call. I go to maybe 3 or 4 meetings a month, don't sing, don't comment, don't do talks. I don't like it but same as you I have family that I don't want cut off from me.
