Since exiting the Witnesses have you Become More " Spiritual " ? - Not ........
by flipper in..... necessarily more religious, but more spiritual in a non-religious way ?
although being religious is one of the definitions os " spiritual " it encompasses much more in the webster's new world dictionary , under the word spiritual it's definition is : " 1. of the spirit or the soul as distinguished from the body or material matters 2. of, from, or concerned with the intellect ; intellectual 3. of or consisting of spirit ; not corporeal 4. characterized by the ascendancy of the spirit ; showing much refinement of thought and feeling 5. of religion or the church ; sacred, devotional, or ecclesiastical ; not lay or temporal 6. spiritualistic or supernatural .
quite a variety of definitions !

I have to say also that I feel far more connected to God lying in the grass in the sunshine listening to the birds sing or watching the stars on a clear night than any time I've ever spent sitting in a KH!!

I have definitely become more spiritual and think much more towards the 'inner person' and how I relate to God and Christ and the world around me. I still go to meetings but they have become meaningless rituals (I go for show). I look far more deeply into the meaning of the Bible message particularly pertaining to Christ and what it means to me personally and prayer is more meaningful to me. The so called 'Sacred Service' as talked about in the WT study tomorrow is nothing more than getting in a hamster wheel and go round and round getting nowhere.

Elders Wives/kids
by exwhyzee inhow many elders wives or kids have looked at the congregation files without their husband/father knowing about it?
anyone here have any knowledge of this.
how foolish anyone is to go to these people if they keep a written record/file on you.

I've been an elder's wife for nearly 30 years and never looked at anything. Well, except a very quick peek at the elder's manual, only after I discovered all the falsehoods about the WTS and even then I felt guilty about it! LOL

Is the Watchtower shy about repeating their new "generation" teaching?
by slimboyfat inas i recall in the 1980s talks and watchtower literature, magazines and books were always talking about the "generation" teaching and how it proved armageddon was going to come any day now.. but am i correct in thinking they have only actually mentioned the new "overlapping generations" teaching once or twice in the literature?
why are they so shy about talking about their great new interpretation?
it's almost enough to make you suspect they are a embarrassed about it.. mention it once or twice, don't dwell on it, hope everyone just accepts it, and don't bring it up again.

And now we're not supposed to ask any more questions. All the answers there are have already been covered..

Wisdom From a Former Elder
by Conan The Barbarian inthere is a brother in our congregation who moved in a few years ago.
i know he had handled many difficult matters, as others had told me this.
when he moved in, i was told that he came with a sterling recommendation, but declined to serve.

Sounds very much to me like he is in the 'conscious class'! Perhaps you put out one or two feelers and see his response? Although he might be very wary if he's been 'burned'.

All the time MsGG! It's very hard because despite knowing how it all works, despite knowing all the falsehoods, all the propaganda, being able to see through it all... there are still some lovely people there. I have friends I love dearly that I've known from my childhood, over 40 years, we grew up together, know each other inside out. (But I can't share this with them!) It would break their hearts because to them, serving the organisation is serving God and leaving the organisation is leaving God! It is black and white. It is a very delicate balancing act but I think once you have discovered everything there is no going back, it's like a Pandora's box, you can't unbelieve what you now know to be true. What we have to do is decide what is best for us and how to move forward in a way that is right for us. Each one has to make their own choice.

Lions eating straw....is this possible?
by highdose ini recall a jw telling me that.... "they" meaning scientists, had done study's on lions in zoo's and discovered that if they gave lions straw and grass to eat that the lions became very passive and no longer showed predator behavior??
now they never explained who "they" were, or were these "study's" had been done or why based on these study's lions are not now fed grass etc
has anyone else heard this for real?

I've heard that about the Lions in a zoo too, I think it had something to do with lack of meat available in WWII. Anyway this argument about a carnivores digestive system is true. Giant Pandas who are considered vegetarian (they almost exclusively eat bamboo) actually have a canivorous digestive system, which means to get the nutrition they need they have to eat all day long with only short naps and they are very sluggish in behaviour. They will eat a carcass if they come across one.
As for the biblical passage I think it refers more symbolically, that the natural order will be kept between wildlife and domestic life. The main reason that there are problems between wild animals and man and his domestic animals is that the two territories encroach on each other. A recent experiment in India of a reintroduction of tigers in a national park showed this. A tiger was poisoned by villagers for being a threat to their livestock. The Indian government paid the villagers to move out of the park so that the reintroduction of tigers would be more successful.
