10. I accidently came across information on the internet which peaked my interest to keep looking up more stuff. Nobody in the congregation or in my family had any part at all.

From 1 to 10, how do you rate the value of the Internet in your awakening?
by Hidden-Window inas we all know, the internet is a real game-changer in allowing us to know the truth about the watch tower and its history.
i always had doubts and it was the internet that presented me with the ever-growing number of individuals who were going through a similar struggle.. i give the internet a 9 in my awakening.
what about you?.

Why are the Jesus people so obsessed with spreading their message?
by fulltimestudent inare they fearful that they are mistaken, so they must argue with everyone, and try to prove all otehr religions wrong, but their's right?.
i'm not talking about the well-known jw persistence, in which we all once shared.. i'm talking about nearly all brands of christianity, the witnesses and their other branded counterparts.
here are two incidents to demonstrate.. a week or so back, i read in a chinese newspaper of a complaint by two tibetan buddhist women in the city of xining, qinghai province, in western china.

One of my friends in college was in the dining hall. A cute girl comes over and asks him if he wanted to go to "Basic". She was cute so of course he left with her. She took him to church with a banner that read "B.A.S.I.C - Brothers and sisters in Christ"
At least he got free food. -

The best way to debate JW's without being labeled an apostate
by cookiemaster inhey guys!
here's what i found to be the best way (for me at least) to debate jw's without earning the laber of apostate.
this is mostly valid when debating jw's that don't know you personally, but it could help with those that do too.

I don't argue with JW's anymore. I'm glad they're living their shitty life.

JWs say, "They don't judge"
by skeeter1 inwhat is up with jws?
lately, i've heard this line, "we don't judge .
but, doesn't everyone judge?

They "don't judge" but they always have an incredibly sour face whenever I see them now as oppose to when I was in.

Did you AWAKEN from the JWs by yourself?
by cultBgone ini was thinking about how so many posters here on jwn are frustrated and frantic to help their loved ones get away from the brainwashing of jws, and how much advice is given about how to help family members and loved ones.
i considered my own leaving and that it was internal turmoil based on the teachings getting weirder and child abuse issues, to name just a few, and it made me wonder:.
did you self-awaken or were you assisted by the gentle proddings of a friend or family member?

I woke up by myself. Since I started studying I always said that I'm a jehovah's witness because they teach the truth and everything makes sense. If mormons had truth I would be with them. that was my standard so when I accidently came across some information on the internet, I reminded myself that i couldn't be scared of finding out an ugly truth if it was there. It's an obligation. So I did hours of research from then on. I think from day 3 of heavily researching everything about the organization I realized this was not God's organization.

Stop BREATHING you SINNER!
by stuckinarut2 in(this may offend some sincere 'christians'.
can you, as a human, stop yourself from breathing?.
i have always thought that one of the basic teachings of 'christianity' is the concept that we are "mere sinners"...riddled with guilt and not worthy of god or life...undeserved kindness has been shown to us etc.... but, we have no control over that, just as we have no control over breathing air!.

Sod it, if God is really kind, love and just he would understand that. I remember trying to find religion after the JW's. Then after a while I just thought, if god really is full of love and justice he would understand my situation and why I want no part of any religion anymore. I had so much peace of mind since.
