The latest on blood

so the local elders where i live recently had a big meeting with the hlc elders and i got a brief summary of what was said.

thought i'd share.. it seems the jws aren't capable of making a decision based on their personal conscience.

they are confused by the whole fraction thing and end up refusing the lot 'just in case' or accepting some and refusing others making them look like idiots.

to me this whole blood fraction thing is meaningless... MEANINGLESS!

You can't use fractions for anything except medicinal treatments anyway. No car accident victims or stabbing victims are rushed to a hospital for fractions. at the very least they will require blood compoonents TM (RBC/Platelets, Plasma)

unless you are pregnant and getting an RH injection there is almost no chance you will EVER be questioned about fractions. the allowance of fractions is pointless except to crack the door open on blood components and whole blood transfusions. And in my opinion this is absolutely happening!

My experience with blood was rediculous. Hemoglobin is an acceptable fraction but Red Blood Cells (RBC) are not??? Hemoglobin IS RBC !! all RBC are is Hemoglobin 99% contained within a bag (cell wall) made of a little fat and cholesterol (1%). So Hemo is okay but the little bag isn't? Since when is 99% of something a fraction anyway???

so anyhow, I signed papers for RBC right in from of my family who was convinced the whole time it was just hemoglogin. they were so happy hemoglobin was a conscience matter. Ya right, well I did sign for Hemoglobin, just delivered in little bags of cholesterol and fat :)

on top of the the watchtower says that ANY fraction of the 4 compoonents is acceptable. ANY FRACTION. well the RBC cell wall is a fraction so there

YES! that's it!! this will mean the death of the WTL on CD. They may produce a "limited supply for those unable to access the internet but these will be made available by special request by the COBOE"

I don't doubt for an instant the WTL on CD for general distribution will go the way of the dodo with 2 years

however, they led everyone to believe it was coming in 75'?.

so a young person is what age? 10? Assuming that this article was published for the benefit of 10 year old children, that 10 year old would be 53 years old now and possibly even 2 years from retirement. never grow old? never fulfill a career? how can even the most stubborn JW diminish the falseness of that article? You know, that same argument they use for "millions now living will never die"... "well millions of people back then are STILL ALIVE today! If the new system comes soon it won't be wrong at all!" Millions that will never die are dead children from 1969 are now old and soon to be completed their working years and retiring. Fred Franz was such a shit head. Him and his posse of F&DS robots

after all, this unidentified freind of caleb gives him a toy, which calebs mom finds objectionable , shouldn`t she just have said to caleb ,give it back to your freind ?

and not dump it in the trash can ?

what sort of a message does that send to caleb (or any other children who watch this video ) calebs mom should have acknowledged that his freind gave him a present, and it should be appreciated , not to disrespectfully throw it away in the trash can with no thought to the giver of the present.. smiddy.

please, the WTS knows exactly the message they are sending.

think of it, if your child came home and said that a freind at school whom you just gave a $60 toy had thrown it in the garbage what would you tell your child?

You would tell him that he is not your freind and to leave them alone. That is exactly what the WTS wants! complete isolation of it's future R&F

If you were raised in a home with a JW parent and a non-JW parent: a few questions

if you were raised in a home with a jw parent and a non-jw parent: a few questions.. i am going to be addressing the international cultic studies association (icsa) in july at the conference in montreal.

my focus is on 3 groups.

the third group consists of people people who grew up in homes where one parent was a jw and the other wasn't.

Was your non-JW parent ever a JW? - NO
Who was responsible for your religious upbringing? The JW or the non-JW?JW Parent
Did they argue about it? NO, at least not in front of me. I never sensed it was an issue.
Were you forced to go? Well... I was never given an option NOT to go. EXTREME guilt was imposed on any sibling that expressed any desire to not go to a meeting. So much so that i rarely recall it ever happening. When I was age 12 to say age 18 the last place I wanted to be was in a KH but I wouldnt dare ever say that out loud, the rage and guilt from my JW parent would have been relentless.
Did the non-JW parent have any real say in how the family celebrated holidays? Nope, it was all decided by JW parent. Final.
Over all what impact did this split household have on your childhood and even later in life? As a child I often blamed my lack of interest in the "truth" to the fact I had only one JW parent. This led me not to respect that parent. Later in life when I realized my lack of interest was because of internal dichotemy (knowing inside it was bull shit but suppressing those feelings) I lost all respect for my JW parent. The most difficult part is not being able to ask my unbelieving parent for forgiveness since they have died. Only my JW parent is still around.
What would you want therapists to know about your situation? I remember talking to a therapist when I was at the beginning of my path to understanding. At the time I was unaware that my depression was largely due to this dichotemy coming to light. I was denying it. When my therapist asked me what religion I was I did not provide an answer and said I did not want to make that a part of my discussions. The problem was it was at the very core of my issues. This is why so many JW's have difficulty recovering from depression since they deny themselelves the help they need to recover and compound the problem by seeking advice from elders and from the WTS - often the vary source of the problem.
I would want therapists to know that I am living a life chronically plagued with guilt, a never ending feeling of inadequacy fueled by those whom I look to for guidance. I am looking for someone to TELL me what to do because that is what I have been conditioned to need. I am not capable of confidence in my own decisions. I NEED approval. I NEED someone to pat me on the back and tell me that I am doing what I should be doing. This is the core of my problem as the vary people I seek the approval of are themselves the reason I seek approval.

Any other thoughts? As an adult looking back I actually don't resent my upbringing, I resent that I was not able to emotionally break free at a younger age. I resent that my JW parent used this religion as a way to control me, while at the same time some how pacifying their gult for being a lousy parent - if they force their kids to be good JW's this will somehow be their golden ticket with Jehovah and make all their bad parenting okay.
What being rasied a JW has done for me for the positive is that I am very in touch with my spiritual self now that I am mentally free. I have no fear from an existential perspective. My life has meaning because I give it meaning.
So many people spend their entire lives never being satisfied with any spiritual or existential meaning. While I am still on this journey (as I believe it is life long) I am satisfied that I am not losing out on anything, or that the "truth" is somehow out there and I need to find it. I know that truth is internal, that my happiness is from within and not from some external source or group that I need to search for.
this is my truth.

Have You Ever Gone To Meetings While Under The Influence Of Booze Or Drugs?

i had an italian elder friend that regularly drank his wine (daily) and it was obvious that on some thursday or tuesday evenings, he was clearly under the influence of alcohol.

quite often, we would have a 3:00 sunday afternoon elder's meeting and once again, i could tell he had been drinking.. nobody ever brought it up but i knew him well and he loved his vino and martinis!.

we had a number of people on meds that would either act like zombies at the meetings or cry or get aggressive.

the first time I ever got stoned I was at 33 years old. I ate a major bud brownie and I could barely move my arms after and I laughed my ass off!

The next day I went out in service and I the high was still lingering. I swear the effects of that brownie stuck with me half that day.

I remember walking down the street in disbelief that I was actually out in service stoned.

that was a very encouraging morning in the service with the friends :)

another time I ate a brownie at a District convention at lunch. It made the afternoon much easier. I made sure it was a light weight brownie though.

I can only imagine being completely baked at an assembly and snickering during some 90 year old pioneers experience in Africa in 1947 or something stupid like that
