so i was poking around jw.org a lil recently...... noticed this advertisement was still present in the 'privileged' section (ie you gotta have login access).

this was posted on jw.org a little over a year ago (as shown in pic) but since it is still viewable......figured it is fair-game for jwn fodder.

thoughts?????.

as books go, it is tiny, but it is immeasurably great in its essence.

it can be carried in ones pocket,but if it were found in a library of 90,000 different books, it would probably turn out to be the most important one of them all.. wow a strong endorsement of the bible?

Befreinding the freindless and then dumping them

unashamedly borrowed from a post from morbizbaby on another thread because i thought it was a point that deserved greater disscuion.. in the 20+ years i was in my home cong the only people who got converted from a knock on the door to a dunk in the baptisum pool were the "freindless" those people who were loners, odd bods, misfits in the comunity.

the ones who were on some kind of social service register.

who aged 50 still lived with their parents, never went out and had only imaginary freinds.. don't get me wrong these are people who often do get missed off the radar by the community and who could do with help and freinds.... and they would get freinds from the jw's.

I remember in my congregation we would get new people and be super friendly but once they got baptized all the excitement would end unless they were given privileges you didn't notice them much after.

How did you change after you left?

i have been pondering how destructive cults tend to try to model a personality type for their members as described in combatting cult mind control.

i know i have a few personality traits that seem to be a direct result of this.

i was a born-in member, and now that i have been faded for a little while i am starting to see these personality traits that need to be corrected such as keeping quiet so as not to offend others and also not putting much weight in my own opinion.

I finally felt I could be myself, my true self. I'm still working on changing the habit of being 'the head' of of my wife. I'd rather be whipped by her than be a control freak.

i was just reading on another thread--and came across the idea that the wt soc is dying.

oh--i wish--but lets be realistic--not very likely.. .

then the thought occurrs--if the wt soc did collapse--died--just became part of history----.

once you realized the organization is simply a religious corporation, how did you leave?.

did you fade?.

were you forced out?.

I gave the elders a DA letter and my wife got d'fed. I feel better now though, don't regret it at all!
