here's where i grew up. my house is pretty much smack dab in the middle of this pic. see where the paved road heading n/s comes to a "t", well all those trees north of that t are torn out now. my house is west of those trees, soon it will be torn down too. progress for ya.

I've been shunned from my sister's wedding

same thing happened to me when my brother got married. except i didn't even get a personal invitation to the wedding, he sent a message thru my mom. i went, sat in the front with my boyfriend and didn't talk to a single jw there. taking family pictures was a real trip....hard to smile genuinely standing in the midst of your jw dysfunctional family, while your worldly family looks on and later wonders why you didn't show up at the reception.

go to the ceremony if that's what you want to do. i don't know your family dynamics but for me i felt i had a right to be there and didn't want to miss my bro's wedding. although, after the ceremony i broke down and cried my eyes out. my poor boyfriend didn't know what to do with me. anyways, wishing you well whatever you decide.

my pre-med students sponsored a blood drive yesterday and asked me to donate.

my pre-med students sponsored a blood drive yesterday and asked me to donate.

so, i donated blood for the first time.

unfortunately for me, i can't donate for awhile because of some piercings i've had done but as soon as i can i will again.

hi xander, well, i don't think i would ever have qualified as a good jw but while i was one, i did keep my blood card with me. a few months after i left, a friend of mine saw my card and said she was doing me a favor and burned it for me :)

Would you let your kids bf/gf sleep-over?

at what age would you be happy with your kid's boyfriend and girlfriend 'sleeping over'?.

would the rules be different for boys vs. girls?.

personally, i think given a choice between 'it' happening anyway god-knows-where and giving a suitably mature kid some privacy, i go for the privacy option.. what do you think?

well, i don't have kids yet so i know i won't have to deal with this issue for a long time. but i was a sexually active teen so i wanted to comment. i knew because of my 'rents being jws that my b/f could never spend the night at our house. so i would spend nights at his house with his mom and stepdad just downstairs. this was when i was 17 and a senior in highschool. my b/f and i had a serious relationship, his family treated me like one of their own (i was being shunned by some of my family members, freshly da'd.) i think at 17 i was old enough for sex. i got myself on the pill because i knew i couldn't talk to my mom about it. thank god for teen clinics!!!

anyways, that's how it worked for me :)
