  ..... necessarily more religious, but more spiritual in a non-religious way ?

  although being religious is one of the definitions os " spiritual " it encompasses much more in the webster's new world dictionary , under the word spiritual it's definition is : " 1. of the spirit or the soul as distinguished from the body or material matters 2. of, from, or concerned with the intellect ; intellectual 3. of or consisting of spirit ; not corporeal 4. characterized by the ascendancy of the spirit ; showing much refinement of thought and feeling 5. of religion or the church ; sacred, devotional, or ecclesiastical ; not lay or temporal 6. spiritualistic or supernatural .

  quite a variety of definitions !

  If Jehovah's Witnesses Were Right...

  if they (or the governing body) were right: (fill in the blank).

  - the bible (even their own) would have lies in it, which would mean the whole bible would be a lie.

  - jesus' blood wouldn't really save anyone (so what would be the point of him dying for us).

  When my folks were first brought into the borg we lived in a VERY small town in Northern NM. The overlords were all related to each other by marriage at least. All were Spanish speakers but the congo was in English. Back then they had an intermission between the Sunday talk and washtowel study so they could all smoke. The overlord who brought my folks in and rented us an apartment with a store front hit my mom with a shovel because she asked why all teh apartments water was being billed through OUR water meter. So we left.

  Moved to Albuquerque in the early 70's and we found a Spanish congo. The overlords were also related. The two main ones were brothers but they also had a couple of cousins in the body and a brother in law. When they needed a vote to break a stalemate they used their DAD as an HONORARY elder to get their way. My folks got tired of their crap especially after 1975 and we moved to an English speaking congo. More crap so we went back to the Spanish then back and forth again until we moved.

  We moved to the SeaTac area and went to an English hall. Never really fit in and we were only there for about 6 months before we moved to CA.

  Here in CA we ran the gauntlet again between English and Spanish. HATED ALL OF THE CONGOS.

  All in all they were backward and controlling people from day one.

  Open Mic Night

  i have been considering signing up for open mic night at a local sports bar here in my little town.

  when i was about 16 years old i started recording some songs i did alone and also with a couple of friends.

  back in 2009 an old girlfriend of mine found a box of my old reel to reel tapes in a box in her mom's garage and she sent them to me.

  consider my own family.

  i have jw relatives who gave up everything, moved to where the need was greater and they have never been happy.. they've been constantly in poor health, suffered with depression and had feuds within their own jw family.

  I know lots of them who SAY they are. But in all honesty the ones I know well are pretty miserable people. Judgmental, hateful, even sad describes them.

  if Google+ takes over from facebook how will the Watchtower react?

  it seems to me it's only a matter of time before google+ takes over from facebook as the most popular social network.. a few jws i know have invited me to their google+ circles, or whatever you call it, in the last few weeks.

  maybe they are more relaxed about using this network because it has not been condemned at the meetings the same way facebook has.. it occurs to me that the watchtower might be less likely to actually name google+ as forbidden fruit purely because they are confused about the name (i'm a bit confused about the name) and it they start condemning google they might sound like they mean to stop people using the search engine and just sound a bit daft.. so is this a social network that jws can take part in with impunity?.

  No doubt in my mind that the wt would intervene to protect the sheep. ANYTHING that a jw uses for enjoyment is verboten. If they don't realize this then they need REMINDERS.

  How Did You View The Elders?

  i know some who truly believed they were "gifts in men".

  they needed their approval and wanted to be well spoken of by them.. i know some who can't stand elders and regard them as pests, always looking for some dirt on somebody.. i know some who liked maybe one or two but regarded the majority as unqualified.. how did you view the elders??

  I was raised to respect them. But after awhile my folks tired of them and let us know it. Once when we had the bookstudy in our home us kids went to our rooms and invited the other kids to hang out. One of the elder's kids brought up playboy magazines. He said he loves to look at it and wondered if we did. I took out my stack of Playboys, Penthouse, OUI, Club, and Hustlers. Well, he borrowed a couple to take home. He rolled them up and tucked them under his sock under his pant leg and left. Later we LOST the priviledge of having the study in our home because of the porno. I still don't know if the little punk outright finked on me or if he got busted and was forced to tell where he got them. ASS HAT! As I grew up I learned about the elders in Albuquerque who went on stake out. They would park in the Safeway parking lot across the street from the Pussycat Theater on Central Ave and wait to see if any of the brothers went in. WTF! I think it's safe to say I find them to be duplicitous and hypocritical judgmental turds.
