Whats the origin of sin-offering?
by Cirkeline indoes anybody know when and where the practice of sin-offering originated?
in israel it was the practice of scape-goating and offering different animals on the alter which led to the sin offer of jesus christ.
was it practised in religions older than judaism and christianity?

Hi Health-worker. So what is your goal with all of this? Do you want to stay a JW, trying to reform it from the inside? Or do you want to make as much damage as possible on your way out?

Well LV101, I do not attend meetings either. Last time i visited kingdomhall was memorial, and before that one meeting in december. My daughters live in other parts of the country so I do not have family here.
Big issue for my youngest that I'm 100% inactive, she understands I'm in just to be able to have contact and she thinks that slanders Jehovas name....... so, long way there. She actually wants me to da my self so she she can go on and be spared all the conflicts inside of her...... Of cours I could tell her that its the war inside her between her natural selv and the cultist that gives her trouble, but I guess I'll rest my case for now and wait with that

Exactely Jgnat, and it is soooo important to have a good connection with the natural personality before even thinking about trying to work with the cultist. Lil sis is confused because she admits that her natural personality loves me and miss me, but the cultist in her denies her the relationship with me. It is very scary to experience this phenomena. So all I can do is doing my best to reach her natural person whenever we are in contact. Fortunately she has a close bond to her older sister, and listens and admires her alot, and therefor is more open to influence from her.

Retro: Oh yes, She knows the importance not to bust with anything, and be carefull what to say to her little sister, or to anyone else for that matter. And she learned this by her father...... because at one stage she was confident that we ofcourse could talk to our brothers and sisters about everything. Things we doubted and did'nt agree with. I told her to be carefull. Then she called me about 4 months ago very upset. It turned out that she had had a long conversation with her elder dad being honest about things she did not like about the org.
What happens.... Dad called her husband behind her back, telling him that he had to study more with his wife, and he then called the branchoffice in our country making an appointment with an elder-bethelite to set up a meeting with him and our daughter to get her back on track! She was shocked. I told her noone could force her to meet with them, and she did'nt. But I have never after that heard her say she have been open about her new findings. So she learned to take care! And yes, she will be the key to help little sister, I am quite sure of that.

Jgnat: Yes, going slowly and carefully is crucial. I would like to compare to a severe starving child. You have to start very gentle with the food.....teaspoons for meals in the start, or it will simply die. That is very important.
Then trying to appeal to common sence and encurraging her to do her own research to be sure of what she stood for. I think that got to her.
And then being patient and take all the rant and scolding that comes without being upset or doing the same back. We e-mailed quite alot while I was out. She was very angry with me, and I let her get it out, everything, taking everything she said/wrote serious, putting myself into her shoes and very slowly I could feel she was ready to listen to my arguments. She felt safe and comfortable. That is maybe the most important part.
And I actually think that the fact that I da'd myself forced her to think alot about the shunning policy and the consequencies of it. Maybe she got "disturbed" enough to get her mind ready to think out of the box. I do not know. I will ask her what made her change her mind about the religion when things get more safe and stable.

Update on my situation:
OMG I am so happy!!!!!! My eldest daughter is definetely wide awake now, and tonight I got a message from her telling me that her husband also is ready to take the blinkers off. He wants to read COC, and I will surly bee happy to hand it over to him. She told me they are now using their "family-study nght" searching websites like freeminds, jwfacts, jwstruggle etc for arguments against the jv-doctrines!!!! It has been the pain worth going back undercover I now dare to think that my youngest will follow. But that lays in the future. She is still happily blinded. 50% success so far!
Thank you Randall Watters, Jwfacts, Cedars and all you beautifull people on this board!

Did any of you know the TATT before you left?
by marriedtoajw ini know that all everyone's experience vary but i ask this because i am under the impression that since jw's are taught to avoid reading material that may be critical of their teachings they just stay away.
yet many of you violated this at some point to come accross information that confirmed or convinced you of "the problems" with the org.
i have also spoken to active jw's online who seem to know the controvercies but still defend the org vigorously.

No.
I was convinced that wts was the thruth, and when I DA myself I knew I had to get back to be forgiven by god. But about 1/2 year out, having the time and space to think and the distance being able to consider my believes, things started to happen. And I began reading books and internet. A lot. Then I got the knowledge that had been hidden from me, and all the questions and doubts I had suppressed during all the years being in the cult came to life, and I found real freedom.
Fantastic experience! And for me it was no problem loosing my religion. I don't need any religion, and I am absolutely confident with not having the answers to al questions. TTATT is truly liberating the mind!

He will not hand him a serpent, will he?
by tootired2care inone of the things jesus related on his famous sermon on the mount, is that if a son asks his father for bread he would not be given a serpent.. .
.keep on asking, and it will be given you; keep on seeking, and you will find; keep on knocking, and it will be opened to you.
8 for everyone asking receives, and everyone seeking finds, and to everyone knocking it will be opened.
