How Would You Console A Witness Who Has Lost A Loved One?

let’s say that you haven’t been around a kingdom hall in years and everyone knows you are not a “true believer “ anymore.

yet a tragedy strikes and you want to give a real heartfelt expression of your feelings— what would you say?

would you acknowledge the resurrection hope that the witnesses entertain or say something very different?.

I wouldn't mention the resurrection. If they do i'd say something along the lines of "yes, that's a comforting thought".

Personally i'd let them know im there for them and highlight some good qualities of the deceased.

i know it could be a sensitive subject however we were all once firm believers and could have very well let one of our loved ones die due to what we once believed.. and not to be judgemental on what we would have done or did do in the past ,i sometime wonder if any of the parents or even one parent of the children of the may 22nd 1994 magazine of "youths who put god first " have now regretted their decision to let their children make this decision on their own.. after all these years i find it hard to believe that not one of them have no regrets to what happened to their child.. i can also accept that it would be extremely hard to admit that you allowed your child to make a decision to die on a belief you instilled in them that you no longer now believe in.

i think that would be very hard to live with and come to terms with.. if any of you are here my heart goes out to you because you have gone through hell and my thoughts/vibes are with you..

I think this could be a major reason such parents would stay in. To leave and accept the fact that you'd let a child die because you were following the interpretation of scripture of a bumbling idiot in New York who you've never even met would drive one to major depression or even worse.

One Jonestown survivor reckoned that Jim Jones ordered the children to drink the cool aid first because after you've seen your child die in your arms what are you gonna want to do even if you dont believe it?

This is one dinner table i'd rather shoot myself in the face than sit around. The Morriss family.

You can just feel the "clique-i-ness" oozing right out of them. Tony's having a good laugh there because no other bethelites are allowed to use that table and eat lovely pizza with flowers on the table. They're getting rice and beans again. "And tomorrow we're flying out to Tahiti to give "talk" to the brothers. Might as well enjoy the scenery while im there too mwhahahahaha"

Pioneer Elder Still in Jail (follow up report)

confirmed by a family friend and elder who lives in the area!

he was a pioneer elder in a port st lucie (river view congregation) fl, convention and assembly speaker, a"shining star" of the circuit and had served at bethel for several years.

was sexually abusing his step daughter from age 8 to 12. his wife has divorced him and moved back to tennessee.

How does he even get up on the platform and give talks? Knowing that, accord to his own beliefs, he's smoke at Armageddon. Unless he doesn't really believe it and is just carrying on being a JW because it's all he knows.

how would you guys react if or when you were told this phrase by a jw while having a conversation?

another phrase is “this world...” or “this system, like gum will chew you up and when it’s done with you, spit you right back out.”.

one i’ve been personally told was from a convert that had told me “whenever i speak to young ones that want to know if the grass is greener on the other side, i tell them i was a part of it.

"I hope you'll see that the world has nothing to offer you"

or

"I hope you get yourself sorted and return to Jehovah"

but my all time favorite has to be:

"we as a family are suffering because you've left Jehovah!"

This really does make me shake my head and roll my eyes. Only today i read about a poor 4yo boy that was killed in an accident while on holiday with his family. There's JWs IN PRISON in South Korea. And JWs in Russia being targeted by Putins regime. Meanwhile, Jehovah is sorting 18 plane tickets. He doesn't even get them to the USA. Just out of Moscow. Even i could have done a better job than that.

Very few converts, lukewarm members, and the old members dying off. Yes, it wont be long before this it fizzles out or becomes a very minority religion like the Christadelphians.
