Yes, Jehovahs are all about peace on earth. This is their idea of Jesus... by the way, this is from one of their books intended FOR CHILDREN...

Pale.Emperor Meets The Mormons
by pale.emperor inwhen i was a jw i was fascinated with the mormon religion.
i never believed a word of it of course, but i was interested in their religion like most boys were interested in star wars.
i’ve read the book of mormon, doctrine & covenants, pearl of great price, book of abraham, watched their videos, read critical books by ex mormons etc etc… (strange at the time that i never did this with my own religion!

Update:
I came home from work to find a note posted through my letter box. It reads:
Hi [Pale.Emperor]!
We hope you've started reading your copy of the Book of Mormon. As you read, you will come to know of your great potential and understand Gods love for you. Pay attention to your feelings as you read. If you have questions text or call us.
Hope we can meet.

So the Mormon Church is sending me women now? Clearly the Mormon God doesn't know me well enough... or he knows me too well... I'm quite the womanizer.

what is the mormon hook ? do they sell the everlasting life on a paradise earth nonsense too ?
No Stan, if you're a good mormon, you get to be a God with your own planet and a goddess wife to have endless sex with you send your spirit children to your planet to live as humans then return to you.
Makes sense.

When I was a JW I was fascinated with the Mormon religion. I never believed a word of it of course, but I was interested in their religion like most boys were interested in Star Wars. I’ve read the Book Of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, Pearl Of Great Price, Book Of Abraham, watched their videos, read critical books by ex Mormons etc etc… (strange at the time that I never did this with my own religion!).
At this point I’d only ever met Mormons twice. Once when I was about 10yo and they knocked on our door and gave me a little tract and my mum told me off for taking their literature. The second time was in a Park in Widnes. Had a great chat and I refuted their beliefs with JW theology (or so I thought).
So imagine my surprise when there’s a knock on my door at about 8pm. Usually I wouldn’t answer as it could be the TV license people asking to see if I own a TV (long story). But I opened it and there were two very smiley Mormon boys. One was from Colorado, the other from South Africa. I shook their hands and told them I used to be a JW so I know what it’s like knocking on doors and I bet nobody has been interested right? The laughed and said yes.
So I thought, what the heck, I invited them in. (The exMormon reddit people have told me this was my first mistake). I made the schoolboy error of offering them a cup of tea. They, of course, declined. I totally forgot they don’t drink tea/coffee/cola. So instead we had water. (It was either that or beer, wine or milk!).
They shown me a small pamphlet containing a picture of Joseph Smith’s first vision, explained it to me (I already knew about the first vision and the conflicting accounts around it). I told them I’ve just left a high control religion and I have no intention of joining another, and don’t actually believe in God. They bore their testimony about “knowing” that the Mormon church is the one true church and that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. I didn’t want to sound mean so I said that’s nice… but I don’t believe that. I believe he said he was a prophet. But that doesn’t mean he was.
Long story short – they gave me a copy of the Book of Mormon, a few pamphlets and a little card with their phone numbers on it.
Very nice boys. But I wont be inviting them in a second time. The exMormon Reddit members tell me I’ll be hounded now as a return visit. I know the score. But I’ll have to be a little more controversial with the topics I bring up next time at my door step. Blacks in the church maybe? God living on a star called Kolob?

What is the benifits to living forever?
by Jayk incan anyone give me a valid reason for it?
growing old is a drag.
the witnesses idea of ever lasting life, that you will come back to your most youthful state is such a bs answer..

At first it sounds good on paper. But in practice i dont think i'd like to live forever as the Watchtower portrays it.
Eventually the earth would be so full that we'd stop procreating. This would happen within the first 500 years. So does this mean no more sex? Then you may as well shoot me now!
What about those ones who had plural wives? Are they still married to them? WT is now a lot more careful in explaining whether or not the resurrected are still married. Does this mean my dad is not my dad anymore?
So eventually we'd all reach a nice median age like 27, master every instrument, every science, all mathematical concepts, memorize books etc etc.
So now what? Im 500 billion years old an expert at everything... but then so is Bro A and Sister B.
And we still got to go to meetings and be ruled over by Tony Morris and JF Rutherford and co?
I'll take my 80 years now thank you.

Just got a good LOL out of my roommates
by Jayk inmy roommate (j) is sleeping sitting up right on his pc.. my other roommate (c) says "how do you sleep sitting up like that".

Sunglasses. If you want to sleep during the sessions in the convention you must wear sunglasses.
The only problem is only blind people and assholes wear sunglasses indoors, so this works better if it's an outdoor convention.

Are Beards becoming more acceptable due to decline in membership?
by UnshackleTheChains ini noticed a young brother with a beard being given more privelages within our hall.
when he first grew his beard, he lost his privelages.
but more and more recently he has been helping out a lot more.. the cobe is old school and a stickler for rules, but with the hall becoming more empty these days, and the need for young brothers, he seems to have relaxed on this particular watchtower/man made rule.

Imagine if Jesus appeared before them.
Jesus: Behold, the son of man is with you. I have a lifesaving message for you all...
Elder 1: Thanks Jesus but you'll need to shave and put this white shirt on before we can allow you on the platform.
Elder 2:Also, can we have you latest ministry report slip please?
Elder 3: And a letter from your previous congregation confirming that you're a baptised witness in good standing.

Welcome Pom
Let me just say that we all understand. Every one of us have been through the exact same things as you. I've been out about a year and a half. I had little doubts for years that I ignored and just focused on the good things JWs have.
For me it was the rules upon rules, interfering elders, this snitching culture and this idea that we need magazines to study the bible and the governing body to have a relationship with God.
Read up on JWFacts.com and also there's a book by ex Governing Body member Ray Franz. It's absolutely worth the read, it'll open your eyes and make you wise about some things. PM me for a copy of you wish.
Come back and vent. It's good to air your feelings. We'll look after you on here and support you.

Work Christmas functions: Being a Bible Student (unbaptized)
by rulehayl inhi all,i have been studying with the witnesses for more than 6 months and regularly attend both midweek & weekend meetings, and i am nearly at the end of the "bible teach" book.
my boss is adamant i attend team christmas functions.
she knows about my studying and potential baptism next year, and has suggested that i attend and just not participate in activities like kris kringle.

It's worth remembering that the book What Does The Bible Really Teach? has been updated at least once since it was first publish... so the first time they published it it wasn't actually "the truth".
How can we be sure they've got it right this time?

Please explain the Watchtower's "Ransom" for me

The non-JW christian gospel simply ...
A perfectly righteous god cannot overlook sin. Therefore we are alienated from god by our sin.
Sinless Jesus took on himself all of our sins and vicariously received the punishment for them on the cross. "He who did not know sin he made to be sin for us..."
God could then be righteous when he declares sinners to be righteous whose penalty has been paid by Jesus.
Disclaimer - I am not defending this idea as either rational or moral.
I get ya.
Which begs the question: why create hell in the first place? Why not just forgive the sin? Even if you must punish Adam and Eve why punish the children that havent been born yet?
