there has been a number of threads related to evolution in the last month or so.

some posters, like penn, subscribes to a form of creationism, which i for this purpose will define as denial of large scale evolution (sometimes called macro-evolution).. even saner people sometimes alleges that scientists are unnecessarily 'dogmatic' about evolution, and that this is 'just a theory.

' these people may be recent exjws or jws, still believing the watchtower propaganda against evolutionary science, or accepting similar claims from various fundamentalist preachers and groups.

All organisms on Earth share the same base DNA strand. So then, I believe as I stated earlier there is indeed a common link with all things on earth. Birds have legs, seemingly they have arms linked on to there wings etc. So it isn't surprising, yet very interesting, that things like tails, thigh muscles etc can and will appear on Swimming creatures although not seemingly needed, although how do we really know that. Anyways although your idea was well expressed I felt it only weakly supported micro(not even close to macro) evolution
The concept of one ancestor violates the fundamental principles of random process in relation to genetics and mathematic probabilities. 4 Evolution to be true it is required that there be so many different base strands of DNA that we must be able to accuratley place every organism on Earth into a specific genetic family. You saying that some creatures have attributes and/or genes not seemingly needed provides no true agruement that evolution happened. It sounds to me like the old mutation deal that has been so weakly held on to by begging evolutionist.

but really, I like the evolution theories. They are great. I thought your thoughts were great. But to say dogmatically that evolution is a fact is dangerous. And that you feel others are iconoclastic for disagreeing with you is pathetic to the point of sheer absurdity.

JanH, ask yourself, I pray you, what makes you? Do you claim any authorship for your thoughts? What is there that we have that is truly yours? Maybe you are just a clone? Maybe not. I certainly don't know. And I certainly don't know you. But don't even think you know me with your obsequious robotic assertions. You fail in the olympian and you smack mundane.

Really, all things being heard we will believe what we want to. New discoveries into DNA gives both fields reason to argue. Its all in what moves you. So what moves you JanH. Whats your deal?

Howz it going.

I disagree with your presentation.

The fact that Souls on the Earth share DNA stuff has nothing to do with evolution.

The creator simply shared the same stuff when he seperatly created all things.

Most Picasso paintings share the same stuff, similar features etc.
Most Monet paintings share the same stuff, themes, colors, etc.
But yet each painting is created seperatly at different times by the creator, the painter.

So it is with God.

The problem with your arguement and many I have heard in my life similar to that, is rather than proving a point your really only making a point. Your also trying to prove your point by making good points in themselves yet they have no real connection with the subject matter. This is done with the teaching of the year 1914 being the beg. of Christ invisible rule. They make all these correct and true points even using correct math, yet they all have nothing to do with the beg. of christ rule in heaven etc.

there is an interesting panel discussion on revelation 7 on the identity of the 144,000 and the great crowd.

Undeserved kindness vs. Grace

you guys are probably going to think this is silly of me, but i have always wondered why the society, in the nwt and all of their literature always uses the term "undeserved kindness" and never the term "grace.

" is it because the churches of christendom use the term grace, therefore it is bad?.

i know that undeserved kindness is suppose to mean the same as grace, but is it really?

Althogh the word grace has grace or universal appeal, it dosn't fully convey the original greek. The idea in greek is something given as a gift, something undeserved. The word is sometimes contrasted with a word that means ones pay, or wage. Charis, the greek for grace, has a latin equivalant of the word where we derive the word donation, hence charity. They all tie in don't they. Charis=chairty=donating.
Really undeserved kindness is an excellent choice. Willam Barclay one of the most unbiased and well researched greek scholars congrues with the Watchtower group in this regard.

Really what I've found, is that the Watchtower basically sat down and used a bunch of greek dictionarys and commentaries to translate with.

i was just wondering if anyone else here loves alanis and her music.

i really identify with many of her lyrics, especially on her supposed former infatuation junkie cd and her unplugged cd.

i am very excited, her new album will be out in feb. i really love her song these r the thoughts.

She is one of the very few artist who is truly artist. My favorite song of hers is off the unplugged, "breakfast over cappacino".

i just went to a recent concert and they were really moving..they did an acoustic version of please, off of pop.

bono's voice was perfect.. i went to the philly november 2nd show.

I think U2 is the biggest and most important group since the Beatles. bono is the most profound and truthful writer since Hemingway. Anyway, Saw them live at Unforgettable tour and Joshua Tree tour. I can't believe Bonos voice is even better then before. When I saw him in the unforgettable fire tour his voice was giving out, this year his voice was sterling.

Is it getting better, or do you feel the same?

question about Planet of the Apes

if you havn't seen planet of the apes don't read any further.. my question is: was the planet of the apes earth just back in time or was it a different planet?

and at the end did mark wholberg go back to the planet of the apes or was it earth with the history being changed because of the affects he had on it etc.

any ideas would be met with great anticipation!

I enjoyed the greatest bands link. How about the 5 greatest guitarist of all time. Here are mine:

1. Andres Segovia (The guitar might not have been a household name without him. The Beatles may never have been legendary either.
2. Randy Rhoads (played for Ozzy Osbourne. Only two albums but the way he channeled classical influence and scale modes over to Rock music was unforgettable. He was able to give theme to the songs he was playing on. Reminds me of Bach in the perfection yet charm of his work.
3. Elliot Easton (Who? Yeah I know a little obscure but I will never forget the tasty notes of this Cars lead riff maker. The spaces in between were only rivaled by his delicious bends and slides.
4. Jimmy Page (Smooth use of dadgad tuning, who could strum like this guy?)
5. Jimmie Hendrix (what can I say about him that hasn't more eloquently been penned! With or without the drugs creativity on the guitar has never been matched.

Other notables: Yngwie Malmsteen, Micheal Hedges, and Tom Morello.

Did you/Do you actually LIKE Field Service?

god i hated it..every living breathing minute of it.

it was pure hell for me, and based on the pace i see the jws all over the world moving, they aint so fond of it neither.

the persecution that the jws feel they get is from irritated householders who know nothing about their religion except that they hit people over the head with it and then judge them because they dont like being hit over the head with it.

Eye actually, for the most part loved going out in field service. This is even surprising to me being that I am a selfish person and have had problems with stuttering my whole life. The thing I miss the most about being an active Witness was the peace I felt for seemingly doing Gods will. I love being with my friends, I loved the sense of being on the same team working through this difficult work together.

I also learned to enjoy the house to house work. The big thing for me was seeing how you could improve in your kindness and tact and be more like Jesus. But in time I lost conviction, not in Jesus and The Father but in the orginization I was supposed to be representing. This slowed me down and eventually I was inactive.
